It was either a Enryx or TOW missile but most likely a shoulder fired SAM like a old SA-7 . RPG's don't curve and like that nor would the pilot need to fire a flare from the chopper for counter measures. Im 100% sure it wasnt a RPG at least

I dont agree with what the taliban/insurgents are doing and i agree with the war in Afghanistan and iraq. However i have respect for someone who is willing to stand up for what they believe in and fight to the death for it even if we think they are wrong. And i must say, these guys have balls if they actually fire a airburst rpg round at an apache...

@joscof The Javelin is fired by a gunner who places a cursor over the selected target. The targets do not have to be armor or even vehicles. Javelines have been used against reinforced positions such as bunkers and buildings.

Javelins have two fire modes: Direct line-of-sight attack mode, in which the missile travels directly from the launcher in a more-or-less straight line to the target, and top attack mode, where the missile first climbs into the air and then comes down to attack the top armor on a vehicle, which is typically weaker.
In direct fire mode, a Javelin can be used against helicopters, though it was designed primarily as an ATGM as opposed to a SAM.

no it didnt curve from what i saw. plus rpg's do bend when they become unstable at long distance. but i dont think it was an rpg either... firing one up at that angle would give you backblast issues.the smoke discharge didnt seem rpg like either.

It's bacuse 'insurgents' are poor as shit and they have not MANPAD anti-air missiles. So they trying for lucky shot with RPG7... it's almost useless to attack fast moving helicopter with RPG.
But it should be effective to ambush with RPG low/slow flying Apache, or Apache during take-off of landing

That wasnt a RPG!!!!
It was either a Enryx or TOW missile but most likely a shoulder fired SAM like a old SA-7 . RPG's don't curve and like that nor would the pilot need to fire a flare from the chopper for counter measures. Im 100% sure it wasnt a RPG at least
