@rudygetsplenty (cont) As far as the justices go, Sotomayor's stance on guns doesn't seem to be in contention, although I have seen a few arguments claiming she is not anti-gun. Elena Kagan is a bit more unknown. From what I have been able to find, she seems to dodge any questions regarding her views on the 2nd Amendment. We can really only wait and see, and hope these new Justices do their duty, put personal opinions aside, and be fair and partial Supreme Court Justices.

Since the 1993 assault weapons ban, not one candidate has run with an 'anti-gun' stance. It's not worth it, because there are 90 million gun owners out there (~39% of voting population). And as a senator, Obama's voting record clearly shows he is no friend to the 2nd Amendment (500% ammunition tax, 1 gun/mo, FFL < 5mi of school,...).

It can be difficult to determine a politicians views based on his voting record, simply because so many bills often include *other stuff*. A politician may agree with one part of a bill, but be adamantly opposed to another part and thus be compelled to vote against it (or vice versa).

@rudygetsplenty I don't think we will ever have them taken away... that will basically require the 2nd Amendment to be ratified somehow. Furthermore, the NRA would likely become very strong...stronger than it is now, if any serious changes or legislation was made. The biggest problems are the subtle ones... a change here, a change there, and then the next generation thinks it's normal. Gun rights are on the rise, but the Supreme Court could open doors to LOTS of gun control legislation.

You know if you look at death rates proportionaly in countries that have gun control and similar violent crime rates UK/Canada. The US is losing about ~8000 additional people a year because there are these guns out there. Elena Kagan is a bit more unknown. From what I have been able to find, she seems to dodge any questions regarding her views on the 2nd Amendment. We can really only wait and see, and hope these new Justices do their duty, put personal opinions aside, and be fair and partial Supreme Court Justices.

Since the 1993 assault weapons ban, not one candidate has run with an 'anti-gun' stance. It's not worth it, because there are 90 million gun owners out there (~39% of voting population). And as a senator, Obama's voting record clearly shows he is no friend to the 2nd Amendment (500% ammunition tax, 1 gun/mo, FFL < 5mi of school,...).

It can be difficult to determine a politicians views based on his voting record, simply because so many bills often include *other stuff*. A politician may agree with one part of a bill, but be adamantly opposed to another part and thus be compelled to vote against it (or vice versa).

Furthermore, the NRA would likely become very strong...stronger than it is now, if any serious changes or legislation was made. The biggest problems are the subtle ones... a change here, a change there, and then the next generation thinks it's normal. Gun rights are on the rise, but the Supreme Court could open doors to LOTS of gun control legislation.

You know if you look at death rates proportionaly in countries that have gun control and similar violent crime rates UK/Canada. The US is losing about ~8000 additional people a year because there are these guns out there. @ForNowKing I haven't kept up with politics like I should so don't know alot about rand. I agree with you on conservative big boys playing footsy with big business. Any more it is getting to be not who is good or who is bad. it is who is going to %^^& me the least.. All my inlaws are scattered. wife is 5 of 13 and only 2 in MT. 3 in wy and rest are all over. I have been in worland area quite a bit and spent time in buffalo and gillette area in oil and gas field. I manage a ranch now tho

@wgnwheel1 this is my sons acccount and he does play I'm retired military and a member of the JBS (funny when you mention the new american) I spent 22 years in the US Army and fought wars For Democrat and Republican presidents and supported all of them 100% as they are elected I'm a gun toting Democrat but support our elected officals even if my side loses I just wish we could inform people with good info so they can elect with some facts and not alot of BS
