  • What a coup by ZVEX! Using "crossover distortion" to make The Machine unlike any other pedal, while simultaneously ensuring nobody else will build one like it, because of how bad it sounds. Consider yourself cornered, market!

  • not crazy about the zvex stuff, none of it has a commercially profitable sound, IMO.

  • @userboy6 isnt that the point in them?

  • @userboy6 tell that to jack white :P

  • This from what I understand is meant to be driven/ fucked up by another pedal....ahhh he just said it. Its supposed to fuck up the other effects and add a crazy texture.

  • this is what it must sound like to crank a 100 watter, feed the speaker out to another 100watter on 10, then play them through computer speakers

  • MR MOUSTACHE!

  • GNARLY MACHINE!

  • If you like this pedal, then get yourself a new pair of ears

  • @236987451 yeah really, i dont get why these are so much money.

  • @ganjaking187 because its the first pedal in the world to mess around with your mid frequencies maybe?

this is one of the best pedals out there, could make any other pedal get a completly different sound.

  • sorry, but this sounds like shit, lol

  • This pedal sounds like crap, as most of the zvex stuff does.

  • If you like this pedal, check out the WMD Geiger Counter.

  • mr moustache is the best nirvana song ever

    andy is GOD

  • haha mr. moustache by nirvana 0:13 :)

  • WoW

    thats heavy...

  • I like hearing the clean sound in the background

  • Well, I'll agree that it sounds different than anything else out there. But I think there's a good reason nobody's done cross-over distortion before... Pairing it with another pedal, it still sounds just as terrible to me as it does with just the machine. Sure, it's different than usual, but in a bad and completely un-useable way, IMHO.

  • running several distortion boxes into each other is not an issue. it actually works well. i usually have at least 2 but somrtimes up to 4 going on.

  • Sounds a bit like Pete Townsend on 'Trick of the Lite'.

  • it reminds me of an ampeg scrambler.

    maybe it's just me.

  • very very cool!

  • I love the smashing intro then the calm voice daaaaaaaaaaaaa duuuuuuunnnnnnnn "welcome to proguitar shop.com" hahaha

  • me likey

  • and the point of this is??

  • it sucks srry

  • These ZVex pedals look like they were made by a 5 yr old lol

  • mr mustache :)

  • ive used the machine for years, there are more subtle fuzz tones in there, but no much. i used this in some major things i did, its quite useful pedal esp when its stacked with another one.

  • I love ZVex. :)

  • i'd love to see this thing combined with a chorus/flange or phaser. it outta make some crazy expiremental shit!

  • Awful 'clean' tone, wow..muddy

  • Pretty interesting pedal. I'd like to hear it in conjunction with a Moogerfooger Murf or something uncommon like that.

It really livens up fuzzes, but it has this Ring Mod-esque tendency to highlight certain frequencies and have them drone a bit over the progressions...

  • "Well that is certainly unlike any other fuzztone you may have heard" yes, it is, because every bit of the monster's tone is something I usually avoid. But hey, some people love bit crushers, so somebody will love this monster.

  • his clean tones are never clean

  • Low-wattage tube amps are that way.

  • Does this or Fuzz Factory have a place for A/C adapter?

  • all zvex pedals do!

  • yep

  • you mean DC im guessing.

  • yessireebob.

  • the new model zvex pedals all come with an LED and a DC jack for 9v supply.

Judging by the LED on this one im guessing it does yes.

  • idc what anyone says, this pedal is fucking brilliant.

  • this pedal is fuckin gnarly

  • Mr. Moustache!

  • this tone makes me wanna punch someone in the face and i love it!

  • if one fuzz pedal wasn't already enough...

  • Mr Mustache!!!

  • also, i think this sounds similar to ampeg scrambler!

  • lol i agree somewhat but the ampeg scrambler is unique in it's own right dude lol

    nothing sounds that tripped out

  • Is he in an easy chair? Mr. Moustache!!!!

  • Hope no one moves next door to me with one of these!

  • honestly,.. I adore Zvex pedals, but I just don't see how the Machine is useful.

I not only don't see, I own one and I don't get it. Like the Lo-fi looper, this one's an acquired taste...

  • put it in front of a fuzzbox and when the fuzz will start away you will hear it's distortion kick in more and more, making the overall distortion scream sustaining

  • sorry I meant after the fuzz

  • I think he idea is so it cuts through the band mix.

  • would u sell the machine?

  • Can I haz?

  • NIRVANA!!!!

  • Z.Vex pedals are so dope

  • It's sweet that the first song played is Mr. Moustache by Nirvana!

  • wow, that is truly a unique pedal

  • They should've named this thing the Little Monster. What a beast of tones, it kinda cool how you hear the dry signal in the background. Hey Andy, why is the Retro Sonic your favorite comp pedal? I'm very curious, I'm in need of a comp myself.

  • Nice video, but I've been reading about how it sounds running into a drum machine for years now, and I have yet to see that demoed. Anyone?

  • damn i need to see that

  • damn, that is a CRAZY distortion! ZVex makes some insane pedals...

  • wow were can i get one

  • ProGuitarShop,com

  • it sounds to much like hissing in my opinion

  • It sounds like a crappy version of the Beatles' "Revolution"

  • right at the end of the video - awesome!

  • Welocme the machine

  • Sounds DIRTY. I like. Awesome choice playing Mr. Moustache btw.

  • i agree completely haha. I think the guitar part to that song is great
