Im so glad I got to see CFTPA in WDC in 2010, Owen (Ashworth) is a real artist, approachable, knowledgable,& all around nice fellow, I wonder what new endeavor(s) he will embark on since the demise on CFTPA....Im looking forward to it actually..
stop bitrching about the vocals. they sound great. their simple, and go great w the beat. just because hes not screaming at you in autotune doesn't make it bad.
This guy is the antithesis of the current music pumped out over the airwaves, I love it! and shows a lot of courage sharing and expressing himself through his own experiences. That is true art my friends..........exposing yourself and putting yourself out there.
The only part of the performance that is actually... a performance is the vocals, the rest is all automated. I guess he does play a chord or two that one time. But the vocals are awful. It doesn't sound like he's trying. There are so many keyboards there... and he doesn't even use them... it's possible I'm not getting it.
i totally agree. i like his music just to listen to, but i probably wouldn't see him live. all he does is play an mp3 or something....and i love cftpa too. kinda sucks.
I got to play a show with this dude about a year ago. He's a real nice down to earth cool go. I'm so glad he's had so much success as of late. He deserves it.
i'm quite sure the majority of the people on here insulting this guys vocals are the same breed of person who would have said "nirvana are too loud, Leonard Cohen is too depressing, sonic youth are out of tune" if they'd seen them on here like this. not that im comparing this guy to any of those but id much rather hear about what this guys has to say than any current "in" band. for me it's not about simon cowell approved, so called talent.
Ohh... don't confuse the artist with the material - you don't have to lack self confidence or have a lot of issues in your past to write or sing about it .. you just have to be able to do that well enough to make people think you have
Actually I agree with a lot of people here, the beats are alright. But if you think he can sing or make a live performance, you literally have two large penises shoved in both your ears, that cause your shitty singing sensors to be completely blocked off. Please, I don't care if he's indie, you're probably on weed if you like this guys singing.
crap. I hope he isn't becoming popular. I've been a fan for awhile now. But seriously, I'm glad he is doing well. My bro got to hang with him at a bar in ATL before a show once.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
R U SERIOUS???...Is this a performance? Are people are actually watching this live? This is ridiculus, but I will give it to the artist he's toatally INDIE which is worth admoration. Other than that id rather watch paint dry.
Being inde has nothing to do with it. Good music is good music, no matter who gets the royalties. If you were really a music lover, someone who genuinely enjoyed music for music's sake, you wouldn't give a damn. So, take your faux non-conformist bullcrap elsewhere because nobody who has any sense knows what a fake little prick you are.
Wow, you must really be in love with this dude to insult me in this way over a simple comment, and horrible "beats n heavy breathing". Never the less its fine , but this dudes stuff is still mediocre at best and there is nothing you can do to change that. So keep loving him and his crap. I mean i did'nt want to toally discredit this dude for what he thinks he is doing...but I should have kept is real like spumon666, and taiyed311fan.
He needs more melody in his vocals. Seems like all these bands are doing the same thing. I can almost picture it in my head it would sound real catchy. This beat would suit a female with vibrato or a guy who can sing using his falsetto in other words bring it up an octave I love it otherwise.
Funny how the audio sounds better in this recording than it did in the tent where he was playing. The band in the next room was almost drowning him out. And it smelled like port-a-potties.
But he did a good job. I wish youtube would put up the rest of the set (I know they filmed it...)
i don't think a lot of the users who have commented here so far understand what owen is going for... everybody thinks the vocals could be better, but that's the point. maybe it's just the way i see it, but i think it's great the way it is.
as a muscian with limited ability i can appreciate good talent and ability. and i appreciate everone displaying their own talents to the world. but damm i went thru all these sxsw videos and not a one of these people had enogh talent to appear publicly. what is music comeing to. sxsw used to reall have some great up and comeing talent in the alternative country scene. i aint great, but i been holding back putting my stuff on here because i didnt think the world was ready for my music. l o
There you go. This is how to properly display your dissatisfaction with a band, courteously. This sounds much nicer than "thiz band sux i shuld die in a fir"
This decade has been plagued with bands lacking any creativity (who the hell brain farts that much to write "my life would SUCK without you?" I mean, how did she settle for that with a clear conscious?) or lacking quality of some area. CftPA is a good band with meaningful stuff, but I agree, a new singer is probably required.
I really liked the lyrics from the song. They had a deep meaning to them. I can relate. On the other hand, I don't know about all that electronic stuff on stage; it scares me.
All in all, after viewing several other featured music videos, by which I was mostly disappointed, I would say, keep up the good lyrics.
Hey man, just because something has a synthesizer in it doesn't mean it sounds or is trying to sound anything like the 'electro 80s'. But maybe perpetual listening to the Dave Clark Five has smoked out your music knowledge.
I'm not even a huge fan of CotPA but this is an impressively stupid comment.
Thanks Owen!
