I hope Artie has conquered his demons and can move on and live a happy life we do not need another great comedian and generally nice guy to leave us too early.
Given the choice between Artie 100% cleaning up and staying off Stern and 95% clean and going on I (and Stern) would rather do the former. He's still goddam funny though.
Is something wrong with Artie's teeth? Strange. Artie will always be funny. Most of you likely got introduced to him from Howard, and that is how you know him. Admittedly he does seem different now. I think he is still funny, though.
@salieri2020 that's why is so entertaining and interesting. i thought so too man until he shared his hooker story. youtube it. he killed it on this interview. classic artie. A+
wow was that painful to watch... slow and forced stories and Dave is terrible as well... zero chemistry between them and Dave never asked him about trying to kill himself...
Sometimes I think of the young artie...slipping cavalier notes to bank tellers, and holding his dying father's hand, and being easygoing on the Stern show, all ambitious and shit. Then I see this Artie and I think: man you really drank the kool-aid. It was just showbizness artie. You werent supposed to actually believe you were worthless. I don't think the good Artie's ever comin' back.
@TheMrplayitsafe What do you mean the good Artie? He shows here he still doesn't think anything is taboo, he's still self deprecating, you think he's less funny because he's not on heroin?
I thought this was a good interview, Arties the best!
He is a little shaky. And Dave seems cold towards Artie...Artie probably urinated on Dave's dressing room door knob on his last late night appearance in his pre sober days
Artie looks so much better since he's off of the STERN SHOW...more relaxed, happy and great...being away from that self-centered King Of All Retards STERN!
So glad to see Artie back!! Seems like he's still getting his legs but damn, after what he's been through its to be expected. He's a brilliantly funny witty man.
His last comedy special Jack and Coke is one of my favs ever. Give him a little while and he'll be on his A game again.
Artie your fucking awesome and sorely missed on stern. I still listen but not as much. The show drags without you there. It is missing its edge and fuck the haters. It took guts to go on tv and Letterman is trying his hardest but failing to have a funny show and your smart enough to know people aren't gonna laugh listening to a suicide attempt.
Big Howard fan, Big Artie fan - but this was sad. Artie, shaking like a Parkinson's patient - every sentence is Uh..Uh...Uh...he has truly destroyed himself.
"Crystal Meth is a great drug to do if you want to walk to St. Louis one weekend." Yes Artie, we know, this is the 4th time you've told that joke on Letterman. Enough of the fat jokes and drug jokes, seriously. This is disturbing to watch. It looks like he's aged 15 years. He's shaky & awkward and Letterman is clearly uncomfortable and tired of same self-degrading drug humor. God, just get the fuck out of show business.
First of all, was a big fan of Artie on Stern and read his book. What I noticed: 1) He looks like he aged 10 years in the past 2 years since the disaster. 2) His hands and even head shake uncontrollably, look closely. 3) His eyes seem like he is kinda gone...I mean he is still sharp and funny, but not the same happy-go-lucky guy. Dunno if he needs money but this appearance was a huge step. Owen Wilson tried to commit suicide and made a comeback, but it was the WAY artie tried to that's so crazy.
what do you think he's guna come out and do cartwheels and shoot grapes out his ass? the fuckin guy tried to committ suicide 2yrs ago and everyone knows it, so just think what he's goin through coming on live TV for the first time? Just be happy the guy didnt fuckin die, jesus christ you fuckin nitpicking fuckin stern fans. Be happy for the guy, he's getting his life back in order, ya think its easy? Fuckn A already u people, idk just be grateful for artie the guy went thru alot
I do miss Artie terribly. The Stern show is still great, but at times it seems quiet and slow and it misses that comedian edge that Artie brought. I don't know if I want him back because I see the same out-of-control behavior redeveloping, but I do want someone in the Chair and I want Artie to be successful again.
I think the stabbing incident is one of the few things Artie is genuinely embarrassed about. He can joke about all the other past mistakes. I love this guy, still listen to Stern some but it's not nearly as good without him.
@smith45acp Yea the stabbing thing was so crazy, I can't imagine him facing his fans and ever really doing major standup again. Those fans are insane, especially given Artie's controversial material. They would be too harsh about the stabbing incident, I can imagine them already, "I stabbed myself, WAA" I hate to say it but looking at this appearance, while still funny, he is too FAR GONE i think to re-establish a stand-up career and the Stern Show. That is why he picked the sports show- safer.
Artie looks like shit and he didn't come clean about REAL drug use. Heroin is a bitch but he should have fessed up. Anyone that knows him knows all about it. I'm very disappointed with this interview.
I saw Artie on Letterman last week … and he looks BAD. He doesn't look like he's gonna make it. Even though he says he's clean, just mentally, he's washed.
@Vanrocco66 I could not disagree more, the Stern Show is so unbelievably boring they need something over there. read what most listeners have to say his new clips. The show SUCKS!!! and I was a HUGE FAN
Oh quit with the criticism. Can you imagine the balls it took to walk out on that stage? No, you can't. Great to see you again Artie! Your fans love you.
@TheGouch68 you got that right buddy, stern fans for the most part are cool but alot are idiots, never satisfied at any end of the spectrum.. bitch bitch bitch thats all they do. be glad the fuckin guy didnt die, jesus christ
@TheGouch68 The balls? C'mon the guy is a stone cold hack who doesn't know "kah-madee". His suicide is suspect, and his drug use is BS - dude is all about creating this fake image.
Artie is sorely missed on the Stern Show. Howard is beig his normal OCD self and avoiding the Artie issue. Soem o the best radio ever was with Artie Lange. Howard needs to man-up and invite Artie back into the studio. Stern is such a baby when it comes to real life situations. his way of avoiding issues. It's sad to see Artie on an internet radio show.
Too bad the Jew Stern won't take him back. That Jew used him, sucked him dry for his "reality," and when he finally popped he kicked him to the curb. Now that Artie is receiving real help, he is no use to the Jew Stern since he is no longer the "street guy" that Stern could use for his shtick. So filthy.
@Knowyerfacts LOL...that's right. A full Jew playing a crypto-Jew to get dopes like you to follow him while he rapes his goy wife each night and shits on your culture. He NEVER says anything bad about his Jew, in fact he promotes it whenever he can. Insults your Christianity, your Western culture, promotes interracial sex, but LOVES the criminal Israeli state.Filthy.
Artie, you were awesome, and it's so good to see you again! You were best part of Howard. You will always be my favorite.
Remember when you had to land in the hillbillies' yard before performing at Foxwoods because the helipad lights weren't on? You should tell that story once in a while. Love you, Artie.
Artie Lange was the only reason I listened to the Howard "asshole" Stern show. Have listened several times since artie left and its not the same. Howard is not funny. Actually, Howard is a piece of shit. He wont even allow artie back on the show as a guest. I hope Howard gets mugged when he's out jogging and the mugger beats him into a coma that he never awakens from. Artie rules
Looks a Little nerves first few minutes ?? boy i miss him on Howard,s,,thank GOD artie, still with us..pretty short, dushbag Dave,L gives him,#12,minutes,,that's all??.boy artie didn't want to just come out & say he was a junkie,on dope,??? Love that fin guy,!!!GO ARTIE,,,,,,,,,
@nickypeeps Its just a matter of having to get comfortable doing his material 'straight'. It will take a little time for him to get past this stage and he'll probably be better than ever ! He has experience behind him so its not quite like starting over - he just needs to find his groove w/o intoxicants in his system. This was a step toward that end. Once he gets past this 'nervous' period and is comfortable in his new skin, anything is possible and more probable then ever he'll be successful.
I know Stern gave him opportunity that changed his life... but Stern's a real asshole of a human being. I mean he craps on Billy, Jackie, Artie... anyone he's used to help himslef acquire his wealth. Then he turns around adn shittalks them or says "gee I don't know what happened". Then he's said multiple times 'I don't need anyone on this show, everyone goes to Sirius or Krock and negotiates contracts I wont ever employ anyone... I can hold this place down on my own if I have to'. Cheater.
I love Artie and am very happy to see him back in action for my own selfish reasons (i.e. I'm a huge fan and enjoy his comedy, etc) But I question if this is the right move. He simply appears to be in good spirits; he's in his element, on his idol's show, in front of the camera. Take away all that and all that remains is Artie and his thoughts, which are no doubt still pretty fucked up. I just hope all this/his own radio show isn't too much at once. I hope it works out for him, he's a good dude.
@PinStripes41 I totally agree with that. I know people pine away for him and talk about how Howard hasn't been funny since he left and bla bla bla. Artie was great on the show, but his time with Howard is over. I worry about him coming back cuz he could go down that awful path again. I wish him the best though because he is such a good dude and hopefully he will have a successful rest of his career
You know, you are right dummys he IS different! Now he is sober AND funny. I adore you Artie - I'm a broad as you would say so cut me some slack for saying this but you have literally made me laugh through my tears and I'll always be grateful to you for that. I am a die hard Stern fan for 16, 17 yrs now and I hate to admit this but it's just not the same without you. That said, this is a new chapter in your life which your real fans will follow. So great to see you do your thing again.XXXXXX
I would assume after what went down it would be very difficult to get back on the horse.I thought he did fine.Wishing Artie the BEST.The Stern show is really lacking without him.3 days a week i barely listen 1.
Just saw Artie on Conan. He looked and acted like his usual annoying / douche bag self, only 200 pounds heavier than he is here.

I hope Howard gets mugged when he's out jogging and the mugger beats him into a coma that he never awakens from. Artie rules

@hottuna12341 do you know how long 12 minutes is on a late night talk show, dumb dumb?
nickypeeps 4 months ago

Cheater.

I love Artie. I can tell that he's been through SO VERY MUCH because it has aged him.
I wish him nothing but happiness, love and success for the rest of his life.

PinStripes41 4 months ago
@PinStripes41 I totally agree with that. I know people pine away for him and talk about how Howard hasn't been funny since he left and bla bla bla. Artie was great on the show, but his time with Howard is over. I worry about him coming back cuz he could go down that awful path again. I wish him the best though because he is such a good dude and hopefully he will have a successful rest of his career

@BrianDMorton Maybe you're right. Or maybe it's a side effect of the shit they prescribed in the psych ward?

I missed Artie. Glad he is back.

Artie sounds great, and he is funny as usual. The shaking and odd expression on his face suggests he is not ready to be back working though.

Poor Artie. Drugs ruined his career. He looks half asleep. I hope he doesn't fall off the wagon again. Odd there wasn't one Stern mention.

@ohjtbehaaave
Stern finally mentions Artie's appearance either yesterday or the day before. I really hope Stern will let him back as a guest Soon!

Def not himself. He should probably stay out of the public eye if he wants to successfully beat his disease.
