  • god i miss them

  • Crying for my lack of talent....

  • goosebumps....

  • Love this song! I miss this band. Saw them a few times in concert when I was in High School. They are great! I always loved, in live versions, how he sings Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues in the middle of this song. Awesome!

  • 3:40 to the end.... You're welcome

  • This is what I grew up listening to...my parents were huge fans. I decided to revisit their music and im more in love... Why did they have to break up?

  • @L0wD0wnPhX this is a fantastic song. i love it. the sound quality is whats awful

  • play three tabs with the same song its crazy

  • This is sex.

  • 240p....... blah blah its just awful

  • @AtlasFreak75 you have absolutely no taste in music your a retard this is the best song in the history music

  • love ya sarah!

  • Respect for the one who can give me the lyrics of the entire song INCLUDING the part you (and me) couldnt find online...

  • i soooo whanna be there!

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • This is an awesome song

    Fuck yeah

  • Hard to believe this is Sara Watkins in this video. Saw her in another video filmed at the Grand Ole Opry as part of a group performing with Vasser Clements and she really looked frumpy. Here she is a real cutie!

  • awesome song

  • justen biber watch this and got owned

  • WHAT ARE THE LYRICS TO THIS SONG?!

  • "OH" face

  • This is AMERICAN music!

  • Dude i love this song foxs are my fav animals ever

  • The greatest conceivable crime against humanity would be chopping off Chris Thile's fingers.

  • 10 people must be grey goose fans

  • You hit the nail on the head with that one. Too mucho beero

  • This is American Music

  • I envy the people who got to catch that performance live. Sick mandolin solo!

  • I now believe in the paranormal..

  • Sorry, but that is humanly impossible. Did they do it with smoke and mirrors?

  • Dear Ke$ha, Bieber, Katy Perry, etc.

This is musical talent, nice try. You've all missed the mark.

  • @AnInklingSR Pop music has little to do with musical talent and that's not a bad thing. Plus, not a lot of people like bluegrass anymore. Get off your high horse.

  • @AnInklingSR I agree.

Good luck trying to convince the majority though.. sad...

  • @DavidKing1894

    i know right

  • @AnInklingSR Bieber sounds like a chick so yea but Ke$ha and Katy Perry do have talent. This band is good but sounds like it was met for an Irish festival.

  • That was dumber than shit. Whats wrong with this world?!! Very immature. Keep trying ... your getting warmer. Where did music go? I guess they are to busy to be artists ... I'm sooo cool and different ... really ... I don't know what to play except for my 3 jazz licks and my pent jam ... hey, hand me my beer. Yooohoooo!!!!!!

  • @bennyblanko3 You would be much more convincing if you improved your spelling and grammar skills...Apparently your instructors taught music at the same time they were teaching proper use of the apostrophe in contractions, and you missed out on both...or maybe it's the beer. Party on Wayne!!!!!!

  • chris thile is god.

  • Everybody knows how awesome Nickel Creek sounds live!

SO... when the hell are they going to make up their mind and release some proper live footage on DVD? There must be some way!

  • amazing mandolin solo

  • Funny - that Dylan reference. In my version, I've appropriated Dylan's voice for the voice of the fox. Wonder why this song led us both to Dylan.

  • AMAZING!

  • I think one dislike is an insult to this band.. and theres freakin nine.... wth!!!

  • Subterranean Homesick Blues - Dylan

  • Anyone know the lyrics to the little bit about Jonny in the basement?

  • My foot goes crazy of this song!!

  • Now I know why Nickel Creek is no more...none of them can keep up with Thile, he's untouchable. He's way better off with Punch Brothers.

  • Its in A.

  • @metalmandoman thanks

  • does any one know what key this song is in

  • fantastic jam

  • awesome....... freaking awesome...

  • @addyr100: No, that's a good thing. It means the radio stations won't find this song and play it to death...

  • @sosafan509 ha noone would like it anyway because it dousnt have a really prominant backbeat and it wasnt made with a mac so i think were ok

  • one day, that mandolin solo will be mine...

  • that is the most ridiculous mandolin solo Ive ever heard

  • Wow... are there even words. They take this song to places my chromatic mind never dared to go.

  • justin bieber has sixty million views on one video and this has a hundred thousand its really sad for everyone else

  • Chris Thile should get both the best mandolin and best drummer award.

  • Man, I will forever thank my old Music teacher for introducing this group to me. <3

  • i havent heard this in forever still 5 star

  • i havent heard this in forever

  • Everybody seems to be trying to match each musician with a certain genre for some reason...

Scrap that, and just listen and enjoy!

  • Oh i feel so delightfully white trash.

  • love the mandolin it rocks, but the peter, paul & mary rendition of this song is much better. (which unfortunately seems to have been removed from YouTube)

  • MY FAVORITE SONG EVA!!

  • im pretty sure the lead singer is Edward Cullen...

  • I'm rediscovering folk and other real music. Nickel creek has always been in the family. Mumford and sons are something special. The corrs are lovely. I love it all. <3

  • @safarichick101 Mumford and Sons is not folk music, its pop music with an acoustic guitar.

  • @darkfledgling im sorry you feel that way, but your wrong, in no way can Mumford be considered pop. I think your eardrums have popped

  • Alison Krauss has got to be the best! I saw her in concert in Knoxville Tenn. and she sounded just as good on stage as she was in her cds, not a common thing for live performances.

  • They are so freaking talented. It's so refreshing to see a band that has so much musical talent who harvest it like they do!

  • Their fiddlist is " The Fox!"

  • Those solos are so sick, they're demented, particularly the guitar and mandolin ones! I love the way they go so far from clichés, and even tonality, before working their way back to solid ground, as it were. The whole band is amazing.

  • I can't remember the last time I saw a bluegrass fiddler using a shoulder rest.

  • They're having so much fun! It's so happy. Love it

  • star power at 4:07

  • Nickel Creek is awesome!!! Just love their music.

  • I love Nickel Creek. I think my tongue would be tied in a giant knot if I tried to sing some of the parts of the song at the speed Chris sings them though. lol

  • My favorite Nickel Creek song!

  • Nickle Creek reunion @ Delfest 2011

  • I couldn't help but notice the Merlefest sign. Yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa! Wilkes CC represent.

  • unbelievable......enough said...

  • love the random Bob line :)

  • damn i love the last solo this one of my fav songs

  • Reminds me of my great grandma Elsie. Thanks!

  • The Subterranean Homesick Blues part in this is absolutely incredible. Just spectacular.

  • That's SICK!

  • Obscenely talented. I loathe them...

  • aww ^-^ me and my lil sis used to love this song :)

  • It;s a shame... I saw them in Wilkesboro NC when they were a young band and again In Boone NC great band...I think "stardom" made them get attitudes.... They were an unbelievable band TOGETHER....good luck .......

  • Whole tone, Diminished, and Super-Locrian licks. Bluegrass for people who like jazz. Love it.

  • What a tongue twister. lol at 5:32-5:36

  • Dude sure can talk fast, 0_0.

  • This era of the band was amazing, but Chris's head looked like french fries

  • @instereovideos hahahahaha

  • i sang this in choir at school.

  • jimmy hendrix on the mandolin, i love this band

  • Wow, amazing! never heard this long version before.... These guys are incredible

  • Thile solo insane. How do you even remember that many notes????

  • soooo great

  • Love this song! It's freakin' awesome!

  • OMFG! Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Just so good.

  • i like this version better than the alubum version its much faster and i like the solos and new verse

  • someone told me the guy playing the bass is one of the kids dad. is this true?

  • @bd1655 The bass player on this set was a very talented Nashville musician named Byron House. He's also on some of the Andy Leftwich videos.

  • thanks for thr info. I'll check out byron house.

  • @AcousticBoxOffice And he was the bass player for Sam Bush's band until this past summer. Awesome musician in his own right.

  • @AcousticBoxOffice And he was the bass player for Sam Bush's band until this past summer.

  • @AcousticBoxOffice The guy who used 2 play with them in the past ever since they were kids he was chris's father the mandolin player

  • @AcousticBoxOffice The guy who used 2 play with them in the past ever since they were kids he was chris's father the mandolin player the most talented of the 3

  • @bd1655 Not in this set, but in earlier Nickel Creek sessions, I think Scott Thile actually was the bass player. That´s Chris´ dad.

  • @HelenMClyde thanks for the info!!

  • @bd1655 The madolon player, Chris Thile, his dad use to tour and play bass with them.

  • @bd1655 Chris (the lead singer on this one)'s dad bass played on the Nickel Creek album that this song was included on. He also played live with them up to that point. The guy on stage with them here is someone else though.

  • @bd1655 for a while chris thile's dad was the bass player then they started touring around the world and he didnt want to continue to much stress for him.

  • @bd1655

i know the bass player USED to be their friend then the dad took over and in this song idk

  • @bd1655 yeah he is one of there dads, watch 'a veeeeeeery young nickel creek' on youtube

  • @bd1655 He Plays with Sam Bush Band now.

  • @bd1655 The Bass player used to be Chris's dad but he did not want to travel the world with them

  • @bd1655 Not on this video. Back when they were a little younger Chris Thile's Dad played bass for them for a long time.

  • @bd1655 When they started out as kids, Chris Thile's father, Scott, would play bass with them, but he'd stopped that in 2000.

  • @bd1655 I heard that too but I'm not sure.

  • I love this song!!! I've been listening to this music since i was a little girl and i still love it at 16 :) Chris is my HERO!!!

  • These guys fuckin rock!

  • sara watkins is so pretty.

  • these guys are beyond amazing. i'm a guitar player, and after watching this several times - i've even played THE guitar used to record the album version - i hate to say it kind of stalls while the guitarist is taking his lead. everyone else is just smoking, and it surely is a great track.

  • It's all done with mirrors, ya know :)

  • awesome

  • WOW!!!!

  • It's their song. I suppose they can do what they want with it.

  • @yoyomaw16

It's a traditional song that they covered actually.

  • don't know it kinda sounds like it but the lyrics r supposed to be the old grey woman jumped outta bed

  • Love it, but does he say mother f-er at 1:11? chris thile rules

  • nope its just how he is singing the song

  • this is great i have loved nickel creek for years and i was there for that preformence and i went crazy that is my fav song of theirs and they also covered britney spears toxic it was great

  • I hate it when people lump country-western music in with bluegrass. This is so much better than all the wannabee "I shaved my legs for this" garbage they continuously crank out of the radio.

  • @desertsabertooth Well, you're exactly right, except "country-western" is really the wrong thing to say. What you mean is "pop country," a.k.a. that thing that Travis Tritt started, and Shania Twain and Faith Hill took to the point of no return, and represents the worst things about American culture, and has lyrics about nothing that redneck idiots live their meaningless lives by. Country-western, on the other hand, can mean a lot of good things.

  • amazing! makes my feet stomping on the ground ;)

  • Finally....raw real musical talent!!! Nice...:)' Guitar Hero can't teach you this!!!!!

  • :( the goose died

  • and the little ones chewed on the bones.

  • That is the most insane mandolin solo ever. Chris is such an incredible player. Gosh....

  • 'Bout time pv! lol...I ben a 'fan' ov brewgrazz sinze the mid-70'z!

  • I caught the so-called "bluegrass bug" while listening to Nickel Creek. I purged my ipod of most of my rap/hip-hop crap and added more bluegrass and folk music, such Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss, and the The Duhks.

  • @phoenixvalley check out Stan Rogers too... bit more folk than Bluegrass, but he's got one heck of a voice.

  • @phoenixvalley appreciating music means that nothing is "crap". All music has a place. /argument

  • @phanCAbe Well yeah, maybe I shouldn't have used that word.

  • @phanCAbe Actually the crap of the music world is Rap, Rap and crap ryme its just science

  • @phoenixvalley Listen to the Punch Brothers. Chris Thile is amazing!

  • @phoenixvalley The Duhks and Nickel Creek are amazing! lol! they are the only Folk Music groups ill listen to! We went to Folk Fest and I got to meet the lead singer for The Duhks!

  • @phoenixvalley Also check out The Decemberists. Wonderful.

  • @phoenixvalley I just recently caught the bug too. Now 90% of my ipod is either Chris Thile's solo project (How to Grow a Woman From The Ground), Nickel Creek, or his newest project Punch Brothers. I find they pair well with the new bluegrass-folk infused, yet more mainstream Mumford and Sons. I seriously can't get enough of this stuff.

  • @incardinesky If you like his stuff, try Stealing Second, second album recorded when he was about 16. I have most all of his recordings and have seen him live since he was like 8 years old and that is probably the last CD I would give up. Seeing him and Grisman meet in probably 89 when he was 8 or 9 was something I'll never forget.

  • @incardinesky you can never go wrong with Bluegrass and Mumford & Sons! I've also added Crosby, Stills, & Nash and Gordon Lightfoot to that list :]

  • holy crap. in a good way.

  • Fantastic!!!

  • Not a big country/bluegrass person, but Nickel Creek is amazing. lol

  • Ahh simply amazing really. :3

    Lovin' this <3~

  • FABULOUS and Fantastic. Heard of them on another site, looked them up and am hooked to their music righth away.

Da Vinci's notebook used the music for their song "The Gates" (and that is such a funny song).

  • Unbelievable. Could watch that over and over again. His playing is really something else

  • any idea about 4:48-4:56?

  • anybody know whats goin on theory wise on seans ascending run thing at 2:59? is that a particular mode? anyone know?

  • It's an A whole-tone scale.

  • sweet man thanks, it sounds crazy
