  • Wow, and to think that question was for me such a long time ago (different youtube account)...........

  • *from*, not for

  • If I get rich, I'll buy your house and you can live in it. How's that? Meanwhile, you just keep plugging away. If you lose this election, run again next election. Keep doing it. Make predictions about what's going to happen in the future now, and next campaign, pull that video back up and say, look, I was right. Then keep plugging away. Eventually, you'll get to the president's seat. People just need to see for themselves, and it may take some of them awhile, that you are right.

  • I like Mike!

  • Vote Gravel!!!

  • MASS DONATION DAY for Mike Gravel is TODAY!!! Why donate? Mike ended the draft & exposed the lies of Vietnam w/ the Pentagon Papers. As president he will: Put the citizens in power w/ the National Initiative Bring peace in the middle east Bring the troops home in 120 days Eliminate the IRS & Income Tax End the war on drugs Bring equality for gay rights Universal healthcare for all Mike doesn't take money from Lobbyist & Special Interest Groups! Visit: gravel08DOTus
  • Credit card = Responsibility. You are the one spending the money, not the credit card company. The health issue is a big problem but credit card company shouldn't accounted for that.

  • Mass Donation Day for Mike Gravel on 11/11 - please help a veteran on Veterans Day!!!

We have to make an strong impact by the 15th, don't let corporate censorship win this battle!!!

    For information please go here:

youtube(dot)com/gravel2008 (please subscribe to keep up with Mike's campaign!)

  • The fact is, Mike Gravel angered powerful people when he confronted Senator Clinton over Iran during last month's debate. Up to that moment the Clinton juggernaut was rolling over everyone. Now Mike is paying the price for speaking truth to power.

  • bingo

  • They wouldn't want people to actually vote for someone they believe in! Instead they want to herd us into supporting their pre-selected, corrupt, corporate-backed choices.

Fresh on the heels of MSNBC's exclusion of Senator Mike Gravel from last week's Philadelphia debate, we now hear that CNN has cut the Senator from its November 15 debate in Las Vegas. Like MSNBC, CNN's justification comes down to one ugly factor: MONEY.

  • CNN has cut Mike Gravel from the November 17 debate in Las Vegas

    Call: (212) 275 7800

  • Gravel's BK is irrelevant.

  • Mike Gravel...... FOR A BEST WORLD !

  • i cant believe russert attacked mike on this issue typical media crap screw tim russert

  • Thanks for the answer Mike!

  • Re: Obamafor2008, "He stands on stage and says that his creditors deserve to keep him alive."

There's a difference between a garden-variety creditor and the great leeches of society, commercial bankers (who include the executives of the credit-card companies as well as many banks that issue bank cards).

  • You seem to take offence at the proposition that commercial bankers might not have come by all their wealth through completely wholesome methods. Perhaps, then, it is no surprise that you support a candidate who has raised obscene levels of funding from Wall Street, which, for the time being, is still Commercial Banking Central for the world.

  • Obama says basically "It's a necessary evil". You know what I think? I think he secretly approves of this process.

People's beliefs are not as opaque as they would have us believe.

  • His point at the debate was not that he decided "Let me see how I can stick it to the bankers", but simply that the bankers got a little taste of their own medicine that day. That's called sweet irony. It's the first cousin of this rumored thing called a "metaphor" that we've all been hearing about. The version I heard says that those crazies back in the 60's used to use them on a regular basis.

  • Barnroad,

Ditto what JakiiRSM said; furthermore, the senator has clearly stated that the BANKRUPTCY was due to unexpected medical bills, NOT that the credit-card MONEY was spent on medical bills. His main point about this issue was NOT that he decided in advance to charge up debt and then skip out on it (which he's never stated), but the opposite -- that unexpected expenses forced him to choose between bankruptcy and exposing his wife to unnecessary suffering.

  • When you reach your $2300 limit "spamming" Ron Paul with donations, you can then spam Mike Gravel with donations!

  • as an outside spectator, it honestly seems as though the only two candidates with any honest principles and integrity are gravel and paul. it depends on what principles you agree with; gravel's responsible social policy that protects people who need it, or paul's, which involves throwing these people to the lions

  • Senator Gravel: It seems as though you contradicted yourself: first you claimed the money was for you wife's medical bills, and then you said it was for your foundation. Also, I'm curious: since we don't know much about you, what have you been doing for a living over the past 30 years since you left the Senate? Thank you.

  • Remember to ask you boy Paul who contradicts himself by saying he defends the const, and not sign on to art of impeachment. Or does not show up to vote against the FISA revision bill. Whats you answer for that.

  • barnroad Try listening to this again, he never said it was for his wifes medical bills.

  • Digg apparently blocks Gravels name in their 2008 elections category, but promotes Paul. Similarly, if you search Mike on Youtube, the main video that comes up is 'rock'. I think these internet media companies are afraid of Mike and see him as a threat to Ron Paul. They are so similar on most issues that I don't see much difference between the two. Only that Paul may not have the guts....

  • Well said.

  • You seem like a real man of the people. It's too bad you and Ron Paul can't run on the same ticket.

  • Mr. Gravel, I respect your taking the time to answer this question, but I don't think I would have done the same.

What I care about are your policies, and for those I thank you. I believe you are bringing some important questions to the attention of American citizens.

It is too bad that yourself and Ron Paul don't get more media attention.

  • You know, he didn't need to answer the question but as a transparent person who respects 'The People", he wanted to answer and be accountable. This is the mark of a real individual that can be trusted. These other excuses for human beings (except for Kucinich) that are Politics As Usual politicians are even in the same field as Gravel. Lets help Mike get elected.

  • AGREED. I am a Ron Paul supporter, but nothing would be greater than RP/Gravel ticket.

  • Ron Paul gets lots of media...

    Mike Gravel needs more.

  • Personally, I don't see why (politician or otherwise) Mike Gravel should have to answer this question. It seems personally intrusive and irrelevant to his public record.

  • A politician's morals matter.

  • Obamafor2008:

I see. So you think Obama should have to explain that he's not Muslim, and why he is a Christian.

One's morals are better expressed through one's deeds, not words.

  • He has.

Sure, you're right. He stands on stage and says that his creditors deserve to keep him alive.

He simply says what he did and explained his view on what he did: they deserved it.

I naively thought that he might have gaffed and that he really didn't mean it. That's why I asked the question. But...I was wrong. Corporate America deserves to give MG credit; and keep him alive.

  • good response!

  • "Let me assert the malice of one major mindset which we must break both in ourselves and in others in order to carry out yet another offensive. We MUST obliterate intellectual apathy. We must destroy ALL apathy of course, but the greatest advantage that Modernism sports is that, by and large, its practitioners are too lazy to even know what is at stake.

  • They do not question the party line they have been given by the academy, and so fail to realize that they support it. This apathy takes the form of a slavish docility in the face of critical and historical authority." - Olchar E. Lindsann

  • the fact that you actually responded to a user's question directly is amazing.

you're the guy for job, mike.

  • He did the right thing! No need to justify here.

  • With very very liberal credit card policies now to new customers and with zero interest rate introductory offers, Do you think when these credit card bills are all due with interest, do you think we will have a similar debacle as the home mortgages now and back when they had the SAVINGS AND LOAN problem?

  • Give us RON PAUL, MIKE GRAVEL, and DENNIS KUCINICH all in power and working together as co-president. I'm serious. This would be a fantastic team for America and its role in the world.

(but what we will get instead, is more of the same evil shit in power)

  • I'll second that. Media needs to stop favoring candidates with the most money and let real, honest politicians who talk straight to the public play on an even field with the so-called "front runners."

  • Front runners aka "blue bloods."

  • Thank you, Sen. Gravel.

  • Your morality and your credit rating are two separate things. Only the credit card companies want you to think otherwise.

I support Mike Gravel for president, because he's a real American, in touch with real American problems.

  • This is History being made. It is the first time a Presidential Candidate has responded Directly to a youtube Video.

Way to go Mike. A real American patriot, supporting free speech in a Presidential election...now that is news worthy.

  • Good points, Mike. No one should be shedding any tears for the exploitative and predatory credit card companies anyway. These firms make their living convincing people to take loans they can't afford in order to profit from exorbitant interest rates. By doing this, they accept the risk of default. Americans are indoctrinated by media and culture to worry about "fairness" toward rich exploiters while disregarding fairness toward themselves. It's sad.

  • Mike Gravel is exactly right. The political class needs to be gotten rid of and ordinary people should become legislators.

Bankruptcy is a consequence of the horrific monetary system we have that is based on debt instead of one based on producing things of value.

  • Heath cost are the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. Well put Sen. Gravel. Take care of Health Care, and bankruptcies will be few and far between.

  • I love Mike Gravel, but after listening to Ron Paul, I'm a Ron Paul fan. Switching to Republican just to vote for him. Learn about America's monetary system and you'll be for Ron Paul to. Ron Paul 08 vs Mike Gravel

  • Gravel is Awesome!

  • Mike + Ron

  • I dont know why update redstate and gravel vids dont work :/ ITS DRIVING ME NUTS HERE!!

  • they work, trust me.

  • Direct and honest Mr. Gravel! THIS is why you have my vote. Keep up the good fight Mr. Gravel and Gravel supporters, He needs our help just as much as we need his!

    Mike Gravel 2008!

  • "follow your bliss".

guys... we might just get a president with this motto.

  • I hope you are the Dem runner!

  • hope is useless without action.

  • Sir, you remind me of Thomas Jefferson who put the people and his country above his own debt. Thank you for running for president. We need more people like you sitting in the Oval Office!

  • Keep up the good fight Mike!!! Thank you sir for your service to our beloved country.

  • truth, they're better used on Gravel (who I think Republicans might actually vote for) than to waste votes of H.Clinton or B.Obama.

  • I love you so much I could cry PLEASE AMERICA WAKE UP THIS GUY IS 100% better than ANY ONE who is running!

  • And that is exactly what I respect about you Mr. Gravel, you live and talk in the REALITY of this country, not from an ivory tower, and further you're a man of principle. You said before you did it to protect your wife and that said a mouthful about the kind of honesty and integrity you have. GRAVEL 2008.

  • I would have had to ask her why she thinks it's ok for the credit card companies to charge 30% and keep people in debt...LOL I know...the answer will be, "you shouldn't use credit cards". Getting sick in this country is a devastating financial situation even WITH insurance.

  • i know, credit card companies make complicated contracts that some contract law experts have been unable to fully understand, they do what they can to exploit every subtlety human thinking, they often make little to no effort to work with the customers who are neck deep in debt

  • If you or I were to extend credit at 30+%, we would go to jail for "loan sharking"!! I just don't get it! And you are right, they will NOT help you to get out of the mess. They WANT ALL your money! It's the great money exchange from your hands to theirs and keep the people enslaved with the debt! Big Central banking makes me sick!

  • I swear if I asked Obama such a question, he would never ever answer....

    GO GRAVEL!!!!

  • Hey mike, do you know Dennis Shank?

  • yay

  • MIKE GRAVEL / DEEK JACKSON '08

  • lets go Gravel!!!

  • With ya all the way Gravel 08!

  • Dang it all to heck. Look at this candor and honesty. This should be a baseline measure in american politics of civic efficacy. How can a man serve the American public's interest without at least this much honesty. Political savvy and financial know-how can only be positive characteristics for a politician if they at least have this kind of honesty. Gravel doesn't look out for his own neck, he looks out for everybody else's and it costs him big. This guy deserves votes.

  • you can help us spread the word and hopefully that wil be enough to nominate him and eventually elect him.

  • this is why this man needs to be president. If you want to show your feelow peers any video this is it.

Congress is moving ahead with the plans to attack Iran. Mike Gravel's success means everything now.

  • GRAVEL 08!!!!!!!

  • I guess it's save to say Mike Gravel never took a bribe from Lobbyist, which is more important, yet Billary the Witch that is turning into to the Devil has killed people for money and taken donation money from criminals, yet Billary laughed whith such glee when Mike was asked the quesiton.

  • You're a good man, you have my support.

  • You answered a question without wearing your Q&A shirt! OK since this isn't an official Live Q&A you're off the hook ;)

  • thank you for being an honest man

  • mike went down with his corporation, usually someone running a corporation chooses to escape with their golden parachute

  • Go Mike.

  • I LOVE YOU MIKE! MIKE GRAVEL IN 08!

  • 5 stars
