Its because Apple hasnt got the intel code optimized as much as the PPC code. they havent had as much time working on intel code as they have with PPC code. there is allot of improvements to be had on the intel code yet.

the snow mac won because of how long osx 10.5 takes to load. i have a mac mini [2.26ghz, 2gb] with 10.6 starts up super fast and the hard drive is filled worse than new york, where my school has 24" imacs [2.53ghz, 4gb] with 10.5 take FOREVER to start up.

@logan637 a G3 iMac will run OS X without a issue only if you upgrade the Ram. they will run up to panther (X 10.3.9) without any helper programs (xpostfacto). and it can use tiger with the help of xpostfacto. heck i had a Beige G3 AIO that ran Tiger with the help of xpostfacto and it ran good.

I have a 450MHz iMac G3 that boots Tiger a lot quicker than than my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro (which I ended up re-installing Tiger on).

If Apple is telling us the truth, Snow Leopard will fix all the inexcusable Leopard problems.

the reason the imac beat the macbook is because it has an older os which is less powerful. if you boot raced 2 powerbooks, i with leopard, and one with tiger, the one running tiger would win.
