Really good question! that's the million dollar question for the series. I think it shows how much Edward loves Bella the way he's so desperate to keep her human. It brings up that whole question of what happens to a person after they die? do they go to heaven? do they wake up in paradise? Whatever you believe Edward does not want to deny Bella that chance although he doesn't have it as a vampire. He wants only the best for her.

because he thinks being a vampire is l ike being a monster and i would of loved it if u said the part when edward tells bella "your not here and i love you and i have always loved you" llol that part made me cry :')

Edward is very in love with her, but, if you recale, he says all vampires have no souls, including him, and he doesn't want that to happen to Bella, or at least to have her experience all the human things before she does turn into a vampire.

I believe it is because he knows what that life is like. He does not want that for her. He believes that this life is entirety damnation. And what if something happens? There is no going back from this life. He loves her too much. It is impossible for him to want to do something to her, to cause her the pain and suffering that comes with that life.

because Edward is beyond being in love with Bella, she is his life, and he thinks that making her a vamipire means taking her soul, and he can't live with himself thinking that he has ruined her chance of an afterlife.

it's because he wanted her to experience life. to have kids. to just live the normal life that she was having before he came.
he feels as if he'll be stripping her of her mortality.
he feels like monster being a vampire.
and he doesnt want bella to be a monster.

I just saw New Moon and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
They deleted a scene from the book, which I was looking forward to see :-( ( the part where Edward tells Bella "Before you, Bella, my life was a moonless night..."
And the way it finished!!!...I screamed!!!!!!( not because of jοy!)

he wants her to keep her soul because he doesn't believe that vampires have one and thus will be damned (for lack of a better term) and he only ever wants the best for her. if he thought like Carlisle did, that vampires do have souls, then he probably would have changed her already.
