Her comments are righteous. It is so important to have someone older, an elder, to affirm you--especially when you are a person of color, a woman, or a person w/ same sex preference, or nontraditional gender presentation. These groups often have little visibility/or positive representation. So, to have a person thats been down that rode or taken that journey before give advice and love to somene coming up is imperative and disperately needed.

hanifah is such an inspiring being. she's got a beautiful spirit too and i haven't even met her :-D she's basically said what i've been feeling for most of last and this year. connecting with elder black women is essential at this moment.

As an older womyn I thank you for reconizing the fact that one day you too will sit where I am sitting. I believe that it is important to share the love with our counter parts(young bloods) hoping that they teach others as well as learn that life is about afirming, sharing and loveing and giving to one self as well as giving back to others in word or in deeds.
