You're right, many or most did consider Nancy to be irrelevant, and I think a small number of her songs defined her, like Something Stupid, Boots, & Jackson. But I'm discovering her other songs and I'm just sorry I didn't pay closer attention back then. Who cares if Frank got her started? The songs made by Nancy, Lee, Billy, Duane, and a host of top tier musicians and engineers are, in my opinion, holding up to time very well. And her more recent songs like Burning Down the Spark are perfection.

She could get away with this kind of thing because no one took her seriously. If Nirvana or the Foo Fighters had covered this song, no one would have thought it was dumb, and they probably would have made the brilliant chord progressions a little easier to hear as well.
