First of all, it was a 4th round pick. It only becomes a 3rd rounder if Favre takes at least 50% of the snaps this year (and I'll admit he has a very good chance to do so, but still, I like to hold myself to accuracy).

Secondly, I think the Jets paid a 4th rounder more to make sure the Packers weren't lured by Tampa, Chicago, or anyone else. They overpaid to make the deal happen fast.

Third, glancing back at GB's draft history, not a lot of 3-4 round picks turned out all that great.

I found the article. Interesting. It's nice that Favre is trying to soften the PR blunder that made GB's $20 million offer to be a merchandise guy sound like a flat out bribe. But I think that's all it is. Favre's a stubborn dude, and I'm convince he wants to play. If any team with a legitimate shot at winning will have him, he'll go.
