It was my experience that owners of GT's, Monaros, Torana XI-1, and kick-arse Valiants used to be able to buy Mobil Racing fuel (100 octane) from a vast number of ordinary Mobil servos. This was a solution to the problem that XXXXShelts talked about. It wasn't much more expensive than normal Super fuel.
Murray is an old trooper who often saved the bacon for Ford when the chips were down. His name is inscribed on the Role Of Honour in the collective memories of all those loyal Ford fans.
wonder if this is murray carter who had a brother michael carter who was my friend in the 80's. murray was into bhp but at the time drove a 402 big block chev impala
I've read about phase 3's that were sold and blew up when they went on the road because the 'race' motors didnt like 'road' fuel at all!! They detonated to death!!
thats an absolute load of shit they ran normal leaded petrol just like every car did in them days.. and running the tuffest and most relieble enjine around
Yes, but this car has been restored to '72 racing spec.
In 1972 the Ford works team (Moffat & Gibson) removed the front and rear spoilers as they were found to be providing no useful downforce what-so-ever. The front spoiler was actually bending back underneath the front of the car @ 150+mph on Conrod.

It depends on how old your mate is nonfictionone. This Murray Carter started racing speedway bikes in Melbourne, Australia in 1948.
