  • is it riskie to change the spring?? im planning to change my cvt spring to a 1500rpm spring, but some said its kinda riskie???

  • CVT = Continuously Variable Transaxle !

  • I can sense the massive loss of power through friction.

  • Its leave you idiot, make like a tree and leave, you sound like a fool when you say it wrong, from Back to the Future2 lolololol

  • красиво

  • dose honda civic has cvt??

  • @vinceperez158 Only the hybrid.

  • Why aren't more cars available with CVT transmission?

  • @Seattlecarnut NOBODY LIKES CVT AND IT STILL ISNT PERFECTED!!! im sorry i'll stick to my 6,5 and 4speed autos

  • @sexyboi142 Is screaming necessary? I can read just fine, thank you.

  • @Seattlecarnut casue the man wants your automatic tranny to FAIL!

company wouldnt make much money if a car lasted forever =/ no one would buy a new car if they werent afraid of the old one taking a shit :]

  • @NASTYTHEBOY Perhaps someone should spend the money to perfect the thing. I like the idea of single or 2 sp. automatic transmission.

  • @Seattlecarnut because presently cvt transmission don't allow cars, to coast/freewheel down hills, this ruins mileage

  • @Wheelin98 Ruins mileage? How does that ruin mileage?

  • @Seattlecarnut because the car slows alot more then a normal automatic when you let of the gas. I drove a new outback with a cvt trans. and getting off the gas was the equivalent of braking lightly. It would not coast at all. if you don't understand how not being able to coast would ruin fuel economy/ mileage then I can't help you.

I also have a quad with a cvt trans and it will not coast, when i'm off the throttle, It has tremendous engine braking but is not very good with mpg.

  • @Wheelin98 Isn't that what neutral is for? If available, you put the transmission in neutral and it coasts?

  • @Seattlecarnut your an idiot

  • @Wheelin98 When the vehicle go down hill u r not giving throttle, normally. Then how comes the gas get wasted? Again, when you are going down hill, it will be better if your car won't coast as when there is no coasting, your car is at safe speed down hill, as engine restricts the speed so you can avoid long braking, saving the brake components from getting overheated. But according to my knowledge, cars with cvt coasts when the engine rpm goes down beyond the limit.

  • kein problem, wir kunnen immer in deutch weiter reden...

  • do the sides of the pulleys move because of the speed of the shaft or do they move because some kind of electric programming?

  • my cvt does not work on my 49 cc pocket bike

the engine revs but the cvt dosnt turn it just jerks

do u have any idea on whats goin on here

  • @brooksyjake Did you try giving it gas?

  • do these transmissions always have a toothed belt?

  • @enfielddnepr Yes, so there is no possibility for it to twist and it has a better grip at the variator and the clutch ;)

I apologize for my bad english, I am from Germany ;)

  • @ThayQiGER your english isn't baad fur a gurmanic type.

  • Yes, this is an automatic CVT (continuously variable transmission) which uses a variator on the front with rollers inside and a clutch on the rear with pads and springs. The rollers and springs are changable so you can get either more torque or more top end. The powerband in completely customizable.

  • This kind of transmission is not new. I had a golf cart that had it, however, CVT is new to street cars

  • interesting fact is that it was invented by da vinci

  • What?? =O I din't know that. I knew it was old, but not that old

  • oh so a CVT trans is pretty much using centrifugical force and ratio changing on the pulley but i do like it

  • Comment removed

  • it is CVT..most of scooters using CVT as their transmission..maybe you work on them for the living, but you never went to any proper training to use the correct technical terms

and by the way, there are a lot type of CVT such as variable pulley, cone systems, and also sphere CVT..

  • then your boss should fire you mate...

  • sure, I'm not a huge fan, but it still works.

  • Yes, it is actually a true CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). There are no pulleys or chains... there is a variator and clutch.

This is a 250cc touring scooter.

  • Thats how they make them automatic! I think I finally got that. but for some reason I have heard street bikes that make the same if not then similar noise. Is this due to the clutch? or do they have an artificial CVT as well with programed gears?

  • thats not true cvt cvt is when thay use chanes adn pulleys. thats called a torq converter.

  • I have to disagree; it is a true CVT.

Gearboxes' job is to change the ratio of input vs output speed, and there's this convenient side effect of multiplying / dividing the amount of torque, choose 1st gear for hills.

Conventionally, the phrase torque convertor is used to denote the fluid coupling in a conventional automatic gearbox. It helps the transition from standstill to moving, and between fixed gears. This system does away with that, and uses a centrifugal clutch and a CVT.

  • @badmanners411

There are two variables, the clutch and the size of the springs as well as the variator and the rollers inside. The rollers in the variator determine how quickly the scooter gets off the line, the lighter they are, the faster the takeoff.

  • that is soooo cool on a bike. that should be more publically spread

  • They are, a lot of scooters and now cars are using the CVT, pretty sound product.

  • It is. Most scooters now days use the CVT system for their transmission

  • cvt on a motorcycle or scooter? cool!

  • good sound

  • what scootoer is that?

  • not a fan...

  • CTV's are good and easy :)

good to make projects with aslong as theres a higher rpb motor, like electric motor if one wants to keep the low torque feeling of a car or for any other reason... lol

  • Just like snowmobiles way back in the day. This has been around for a long time.

  • Does that part actually stop spinning or is it matching the framerate of the camera?

  • it stops

  • Looks like it actually stopped, but I can't say for sure.

  • Varibelt drive.

  • its just a cintrifical clutch

  • This is the same principal as a variable speed drive in some wood work lathes with variable cones with a belt attached. If you look closer you can see the belt ride up and down the valley when the cones move closer or further apart.

  • Cool. CVT is awesome then

  • ahahah I see, the cvt transmission works just like the bike chane on the 10 speed biycicle

  • @sideslide23 No it doesn't. You're wrong. ...And you can't spell.

Too many damn kids on YouTube.

  • @Masowai now why don't you make look like a tree, and get out of here.

  • @sideslide23 thats a horrible analogy.

The bike chain on a bicycle changes gears. a CVT does not.

this is more like a belt clutch system, not a bicycle with gears.
