Incredibly talented man! Just read his book Le Freak. Very interesting stories in that book including how the drama he and Bernard had to deal with after Diana's album was completed.
@driven64...we all know what P. Diddy sampled. EVERYBODY knows what he sampled. This is about the creation, not who used it. rappers play no role in this kind of vid.
@afrosensuou - Exactly. But, believe it or not, there are some who think that some of his stuff is his original work! I'm really not hating on Diddy, because, if he didn't do it, trust me, someone else would have. I just don't like the way he acts as if he is this creative genius in the music world. Nile Rodgers (and Bernard Edwards - RIP) is in a class of their own...
COOLER THAN COOL! he conceives the idea as a kinda gay thing and sells it to diana ross as something else entirely and gets a massive hit record!!! RESPECT TO MR NILE RODGERS
Fricking Amazing. Nile is the epitome of guitar. Can't NOBODY play next to this cat. Ask Bowie, Ross, Sis Sledge, Duran Duran. I'm a Nile Rodgers fanatic. Crazy how the song was inspired. But it was a smash. Puffy sampled this song on the Notorius B.I.G. 'Life after Death' cd.
@mhbass rappers are not a part of this subject matter. i agrre wwith all you said, but mentioning what a raggedy assed rapper sampled kinda kills the whole things hearing this man's account of such a great hit.
@afrosensuous Who died and made you moderator of this forum..clown. I posted the biggest praise for a man I think is one THEE BEST Guitar players that ever will live, and the best you can do is try to front on me because I also iterated the fact that Puffy knew this was a smash and sampled it on the B.I.G. album...how ludicrous do you sound. Sounds like you have nothing better to say. People like you need to be shipped off to Mars and left to fend for yourself. What a loser comment you made
@mhbass,...first, this is not a forum, it's a comment section...slight difference. Also, when you allow comments, you're embracing htose you agree and disagree with. I agreed with you and added my comments regarding rappers in the same sentence as a great ax man like Nile. If you don't like that, then I'm so sorry you feel that way. Nile is way about any rapper. We all know who the fuck samples Chic. it ain't ne secrret. If you wanna honor thee brotha, do it right.
I could go into details later but the jist is Cm7, Gm7, Fm7, Eb, Ab, Eb, Ab, Gm7. There's a lot of little pinky hammer ons but those should be decipherable. Btw I just played along to the record and the original key is in Dm7 so transpose everything a whole step higher if you want to match it.

This never gets old. I saw Diana last week and, of course, she sang "I'm Coming Out." Incredible story.

@closertotheheart: You're right. And the pinky hammer on the Ab is technically called a Abadd9. Nile uses it all the time in his songs.
