I love the fact that Somova dances with castanets. Not many companies that I know of use them, except for the Mariinsky and the Paris Opera, and it's a pity because I think it adds an extra flamenco-like touch to the already magnificent Spanish flare of Minkus's music.
My fave part @34:48 - Alina's amazing pas ballonné while a sleepy-looking Anton watches :)
Why didn't YT send me notice of this significant uploading? Sorry for the belated wishes. Happy birthday to your beloved mother and I wish your mother and father to be very happy together everyday. Also wish you will become a permanent resident in SPb one day. Thank you for this beautiful tribute!
This video and a wonderful gift for me. In 2011 I turned 80 years old and I see these girls as my grandchildren. I celebrate with his MOM this wonderful family show. G r a z i e!!!!!!
Questo video e un bellissimo regalo anche per me. Nel 2011 ho compiuto 80 anni e vedo queste ragazze come mie nipoti. Festeggio con la sua Mamma questo bellissimo spettacolo in Famiglia. G r a z i e !!!!!!
Yulia reminds me of Irina Golob who is the 1st soloist at the Mariinsky. Her body type is not what one would call ballerina-perfect, but look at the amazing things she does with that body of hers!!!
I remember I was doing Kitri at the time Alina´s rehearsal was uploaded. It was so helpful to see her and one of my favorite ballerinas working together. Thank you.
Aw, thank you so much for sharing your tribute with us! Unlike most people here, I have never seen this video before. So far I only had time to watch Somova's rehearsal, but I'm dying to see Stepanova in "The Fountain" also. Again, thank you!
Happy birthday to your mother! Both dancers are outstanding artists. I was especially impressed by Yulia. Her upper body is so beautiful and pure; the apex of what Vaganova training can produce. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for all the videos that continue to amaze, inspire and teach so many people around the world. I can't help but make a observation. There are those, like Natalia Nabatova and Helene Kaplan who spread hate around them. And there are those who spread happiness - that's you!
What a surprise treat! I remember this so well from Ketinoa and have been wishing to see it again! What a special tribute to your mother. Many thanks and Best to you!
I send you my thoughts and prayers and best wishes as you honour the birth-day of your beloved mother. This is a beautiful tribute - thank you so much - and I will greatly enjoy watching it over the next few days. I very much hope Yulia Stepanova will given more roles this year as she so richly deserves them.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video!!!! I remember it from Ketinoa. Alina and Yulia re both gorgeous dancers!! Happy Birthday to your Mother. It is my birthday, too!!!! :)

Alexandra Goronskaya is a very attractive woman. She reached what level at Mariinsky? 2nd Soloist?
palubob 3 months ago
@palubob She is now listed as principal character dancer, but might have been a 2nd soloist earlier.

I am curious: where was the Somova-Terekhova session held? Signs in English, basketball goals, etc.

I could watch Somova for hours. Some dancers just have that sort of presence, others don't. Thank you for this highly interesting upload.
