Amazing how you managed to make Loomer sound like a song written by an amateur songwriter. A for effort and you seem like a nice guy but there's no way that's the right tab and you're not the best singer..
@Zerrith at least he tries and is passionate about the music instead of being a total dick and harping on others for what they think isn't "up to their standards"..
WOW :) i love my bloody valentine and people rarely do their songs justice- because it's so hard to get the sound right but made it your own and it was cool. GOOD JOB! :)
i have never commented on anything before on youtube, but your covers are absolutely incredible! fellow MBV junkie here, and it's really unbelievable just how well these songs stand up without the overwhelming sheen of noise. thanks for making me discover even MORE about the band who made me listen to music differently in the first place.
Fucking great. I really like how you arrange the songs into these covers. You take the furious loudness out of those songs and replace them with an enjoyable softness. Good job.
taking the loudness out of it removes alot of the magic.... skilled player here, but MBV was so maverick because they combined loudness without resorting to abrassiveness. the overwhelming emotional WASH of sound is part of the whole experience.
I dunno about that, I think his interpretation is just a nice alternative to the definitive recordings. These covers have an almost Nick Drake-esque quality to them
couldn't disagree more. falsetto and able to maintain notes without variance or cracking, or and intended fluctuation at all is pretty fucking good. you might not like his style, but he's executed his style flawlessly. I want him to make an entire album of MBV covers so i could listen to it when im not sitting at youtube. the guitar is more than okay. his translation of MBV into acoustic guitar is miles beyond impressive. your comment is the equiv. of an ignorant person screaming "duh you suck"
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's not really his "translation" though... he's just playing the chords that were worked out by other people years ago. If you find that impressive then "duh you suck".
actually i changed the voicings slightly for my version. for example i use the 9th on top every now and then. aside from that i play a 5th in the bass every other IV chord of the chorus, therefore it is slightly different than the way kevin shields arranged it.
very impressive... What MBV need to do now they're back together is release Loveless again but this time strip it of all of the fuzz (not that there's a single tiny thing wrong with the fuzz on loveless) and strip it to acoustic instruments. It would be interesting to see how all of the blurred elements of that album come together...
dude, this is awesome!!! i love the way you stripped away all the layers of MBV guitar fuzz (not that i don't absolutely love it) to reveal this beautiful tender tune that is at the core. thank you for sharing this, thank you, thank you! now i go to watch more of your covers.
got to admit never impressed with covers on youtube but this s SUPERB!!!! have not seen MBV since Rollercoaster tour, got tickets for 2 gigs - this has made me even more excited... you've broken down the fuzz to unearth something pure and beautiful...
dude, GTFO MY INTERBUTTZ! NAO! loser. why are you here? if you like a cover, how do you despise the band? play this and When You Sleep, and Soon on repeat. call me when you get your head out of your ass and your foot out of your mouth. i appreciate your honesty, but dont be so blunt!
you to drop d on string one instead of 6? nice! i love MBV so much. im 13 years old, and am lucky i grew up with my grandma and all the amazing seventies/eighties groups. being born in 1994, i eventually discovered The Smashing Pumpkins and alternative rock, leading to shoegaze, leading to MBV. so, yeah, i plan to try and cover this song one day. wish me luck!
that's exactly how I got into MBV. At about your age too. I remember listening to the thirty second sample of only shallow over and over again until I finally found a copy of loveless at sam goody. Then listening to the song in all its full glory for the first time on the car ride back. My mom thought they were weird. I'm 19 now.
Incredible job. It's ironic that you are playing MBV songs acoustic, in the same way that MBV plays these gentle pop songs at obnoxiously loud volumes. Do some more!
i guess it was the wrong word, i should have said extremely loud. I've already found the beauty, it exposes itself through the gorgeous, gauzy, molten noise more and more every time i hear it.
i think its amazing that you were able to find out or at least guess the notes of that song...hell all i can really hear is abunch of beautiful noise and some singing in the background
I suggest you work out a set worth of these songs and have a my bloody valentine tribute concert, could generate some nice buzz. I for one would explode if i saw that poster on the street.
i shall work on it. as for the tabs i will try but i would suggest going to to here knows web and checking those tabs because what i am playing originated from those
For the record, Spektix is playing "Loomer" from Loveless. While it's probably not too hard to mess up, (It's one of the album's less dense songs), I say he does it justice.
Marvelous! Thank you so much for giving justice to a song from my all-time favorite pop-rock act, My Bloody Valentine! It's understandable that Kevin Shields and company are extremely tough to duplicate or much less surpass, but being able to belt out a version of the song especially your own is to me already enough of a tribute to such a true legendary band.=)
kevin sheilds is shittin in his pants right about now..thinking yeah this fuckin guy has got it! ! ! ! ! !! ! ! ! ! ! ! it's like some unreleased tracs of the songs stripped of the distortion...who the hell is this guy..
Very nice interpretation, proving there really is a nice song under all their lovely noise. I uploaded a noiseless marychain cover I did, but unlike you I can't play guitar.
your mbv covers are excellent. your interpretations make me recall the style of mark kozelek. i've once recorded an acoustic cover of mbv's Cupid Come, but you've done a much better job with these songs here, than i did with that one.
