Didn't the Egyptians believe Ra was the Sun god? So they would have used the circle and point to represent god as well.

The symbol of God is also known as the point within the circle, thus representing the individual and the limits of their passions. Thus we can learn that through restraint we ourselves might be divine. As well as learn our place relative to that of God's power.
