@europeanblade Thats nice, Ottawa had the same line this year WITH kovalev during the season and still played just as bad as Montreal pretty much. Not to mention Ottawa lost in the first round of the post-season while Montreal made it to the conference finals while beating the capitals (1st in the east) and the deffending stanley cup champs Pittsburgh (team who eliminated Ottawa in first round in 5 games...)
have you heard of the salary cap you fucking idiot? the senators are WAY over the cap because the only reason they got kovalev was because they planned on trading heatley. god, you're stupid.
show me the news report that the sens are keeping heatley? fucking shit talker.
its not about point but hart, the thing that ottawa doesn't have and that explain why habs finished 1st and why sens always choked and never win the stanley cup
Kovalev is the originator of both of those plays.. He's the one that created space for Pleks and Kostitsyn by attracting the Ottawa players towards him.. All the other 2 had to do was a simple pass and a one-timer tap-in goal. Kovalev was the source and creator of both of those plays.
Smolinsky is long gone.Out with the trash and in with a bash. The young guns and good players that are worthy to stay with the team will turn the tide for the years to come.Ottawa better be prepared, their time is coming to a hault.Detroit 2 by the way. What goes up must come down.
ummmm they do not suck. Considering the trio has a lot of goals. Ottawa might have a better trio i will agree there...but as a team... for the moment the Habs are better. check the stats for confirmation. (though i know the first 5 teams are like all withing 3 points apart and this will probably chan alot during the next month)
I would say that they are about equal because Andrei Kostitsyn started having good stats when his brother Sergei came in the team. If you compare the teams since like mid-december, I would say they are about equal or the sens' trio a little better, but not by a lot.
That is true...and it makes sense considering points are distributed amongst so many players on Montreal..I think the team has the most players with 42+ points or something.
You're right, the Ottawa line is a powerhouse, but the Plekanec line is still like 80% as good as them. On top of that, the rest of Montreal's lines are dishing out the goals, giving the team way more depth than Ottawa.
"I think that line has killed us every time that we've played them," said Canadiens center Bryan Smolinski, who played parts of three seasons in Ottawa. "They're an unbelievable trio."
wow, so I looked into it, and when you get rid of Ottawa's and Montreal's two top lines (out of which Ottawa has the advantage), the goal output from the rest of each team's forwards are very similar. The only difference, what apparently makes up for Ottawa's alfy line on the Montreal side are the defensemen Andrei Markov and Mark Streit, both of whom have more than 51 points.
Sure do miss Kovalev

2007/2008 was probably the best hockey I have and will ever see from the Habs. That line was magic. Especially Kovalev

alfie- 37g 42a 1.32p/g
spezza- 27g 50a 1.24p/g
heatley- 31g 38a 1.21p/g
kovie- 29g 40a 1.03p/g
kost.- 20g 23a .68p/g
plek.- 26g 35a .91p/g
you cant argue the numbers.

The numbers tell the facts, people on here dont use their brains. Facts are useless to them

They are more bang for the buck. ;)
Spezza alone makes a year as much as Kovalev, Kostitsyn, and Plekanec make in a year. :D
corunguneee 3 years ago
but the fact of the matter is that they give more bang. but you are right, cant argue with you there.
