  • She's beautiful :)

  • thanks for the reply they are just feeder fish they are tiny No i dont keep any other fish in the tank just the cutie pie axolotls maybe you can help me i wanted to know if they are male and female i checked out info but i just can not tell plz help thanks :)

  • what a amazing tank and cute axolotl

  • I cant find any here in Missiouri, and I am thinking about getting one online, but the shipping is $70.00!!! I can only affored a 29 gallon... I only want one... Will it be happy?

  • @SuperMac18ROX33 i live in Australia, so i am not sure how easy they are to get a hold of where you are. If you have only one axolotl it will be perfectly happy. axie's can fight, so sometimes it is better just to have the one. if you do decided to get more later, you tank is big enough to do so. My tank is only about 15 gallons, so a 29 gallon one could easily hold 2, or possibly 3 axies. they grow to about 30cm, so dont be fooled by the tiny size you can sometimes buy them as. lol.

  • @BlueDragonfly1985 Lol I dont have them yet, but I told my boss (I work at a small pet shop, we get many fish selections you wouldnt believe it! XD) And she said that shipping was really pricey, but she would try to get some. Now, I was going to get a 29gallon, and just make it a fish aquarium, but I love Axolotl! So I want to have both, I know it shouldnt be small than their mouth, which fish are best to be with them? That are not exspensive. Lol! Is your color rare? How many babies do they hav

  • @SuperMac18ROX33 you can't really keep fish with them, as the small ones will get eaten, and the bigger ones nip at the axolotl's gills, which makes them unable to get oxygen from the water and kills them. if you really want fish in there i would go for something like zebra danios. some will get eaten, but if you make sure your axie is well fed, it should slow down the process. i had some in there and one has survived in there for 6 months. lol.

  • @BlueDragonfly1985 i bought 20 tiny shrimp my axie eat all but 2 in under a week then they then kinda made freinds . the shrimp cleaned him lol. he then died. i lved them so i put them in a new tank and they both died in 10 minutes?! R.I.P watch my new vid on axies, if u giv em a good name i will cal them it

  • Is she actually hot pink, or is she dyed?

  • How much work are they? I love spending most of my time with animals so alot isnt a problom. How much do they usually cost?

  • @owlsrule14 They are not too much work as long as you get the tank set up right. Basically, dont have medium sized rocks in your tank as they eat them. Either have sand, big rocks or nothing. I once had a pet store owner tell me they were supposed to eat the stones as in helps will their digestion. after loosing a few axolotls to this, i now know he was completely wrong.

  • @owlsrule14 i am doing this is parts b/c i dont have enough space

Feed your axolotl every one to 2 days. Packets say 3 times a day, but they wont eat it all and your tank will get dirty, raising the acidity. You can just buy the food from the pet store, or use earth worms.

  • @owlsrule14 Change some of the water in the tank every week, and make sure to have a good filter/pump. The pump can't be too strong as far as flow goes as it will distress the axolotl.

If you like you can buy a water testing kit. Water should be neutral. ph 7. Ammonia levels should be 0 or close to it as they are more sensitive to it than fish.

Don't use fish medication on them, it can kill them as they don't have scales and they absorb the chemicals more readily.

  • @owlsrule14 If they do get sick a salt bath is the best technique to use.

I find a 50L tank is perfect for one axolotl. They say you can put 2 in a tank that size, but it doesn't really work well as it stresses them and you constantly have to change the water.

They can fight, but there limbs grow back if they lose them which is cool.

They cost about $25. but it depends on the colour and what age you get them.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

  • @owlsrule14 i get mine 10-20$some aquarium stores are un-sure so be careful what you choose some places sell tiger salamander larvae under the name of 'axolotls'.

  • it was funny cause ur mum or somethng was in the background

  • @trenttnert Yeah, she was telling my brother off. Oh well, both their voices are on you tube now. lol.

  • very nice axolotl...

  • wow, great colour

thats gotta be pretty rare, is she actually red or light brown?

    really cute anyway!

  • thanks, she is an olive colour. lol hence the name. she also has slightly darker spots all over her. kinda like olive leopard spots.

  • Thanks, i will let olive know you like her. lol.

  • I want an axolotl SO bad. Unfortunatley, where I live, our pet store is the local WalMart, so they carry your basic 10 day goldfish, betas and sucker fish. That's about it. :(

    But Olive is adorable!

  • Axies have fairly bad eyesight to begin with. lol. The light is from Aqua One. I don't have the light on very often because it heats up the tanks, and axies need a tank temp of about 18 degrees celcius. I put the light on for small ammounts of time if we gave a guest, or when i am feed olive or cleaning her tanks, so i can see what i am doing.

  • great

  • was just wondering, what sort of light are you using?, the light we have is really bright and scares the axolotls, is it a night light? thanx

  • I don't own one but I read something about how bright lights will blind an axolotl because they have no eyelids or some such thing...

  • is she pink or red?

  • Yeah,I want to know?

  • =)

    nice
