  • Retracting flaps will also make the plane loosing speed faster due to wheelbrakes will be more efficient.. maybe not so big difference when landing jumbos but when landing small planes it does make sense

  • At the gate the engines will be shut down and thus hydraulic pressure will be gone. Flaps must be up on a parked airplane. They are retracted just after leaving the runway.

  • Thats what i like when flying in the fog. I enjoy looking at the vapor trails from the wings.

  • cool vapor trails

  • why do they retract the flaps and not just wait until they get to the gate

  • to slow the airspeed...

  • Idiot... or taking the piss....?

  • @ckirkman09 airplanes always lands with head wind, do you know how lift is created???, also airplanes cant "raise" again because of the flaps, flaps are retracted because they are no longerin use at that angle, some pilots leave'em in take off position (5-10°) but on airplanes with a wingso lowas the 737 there's a high chance of the falps being hit by a ground service equipment if they are´nt retracted

  • it is part of the after landing checklist

  • just cuz lol....

  • i guess you landing in san antonio

  • lol

  • OMG I'm in Washington D.C Right now but I took JetBlue to Dulles.

  • lol. im taking southwest to dulles on friday! haha!

  • wow, i just missed 2:51 minutes of my life. when did the flight attendant be funny...?

  • stop whining

  • al;star

  • awesome

  • FALSE lol our just a idiot .

  • I must admit that raisingdesi is a total fuck wit...

  • goodness retards they good only fuck up da navigation system damn

  • Whats that white line on the wing? It looks like smoke

  • Don't worry, that's not smoke.... that effect is called wingtip vortices. That occurs when the air is of high humidity, water vapour condenses to form cloud in the vortex cores, allowing wingtip vortices to be seen. This can happen on airplanes flying at high angles of attack (such as fighter aircrrafts in high g maneuvers), or when airplanes are taking off and landing on humid days.

  • condensation, you see it all the time when its humid or foggy. watch sometimes you see little whirlwinds in front of the engines when they are running on the ground..same thing

  • That white line is a moister trail

  • southwest officially has the funniest flight attendents! 9/10 videos are with them!

  • LMMFAO Funny Flight Attendent!!

  • THEY DONT TURN OFF THE PLANES SYSEMS!! cell phones make a sprinkler sound over the pilots headset(duh duhdidhu...), but, thats about it(annoying to the pilots). i know im one. we know when theuy r on.

  • You probably fly a Cessna thats why.. I'm a F/O with ExpressJet and FM waves from a cell phone's transmitter/receiver will cause glitches with our navigation equipment.

  • F/O for express jet huh?...are the foodstamp lines long?

  • Beautiful how people follow instructions to remain seated while the aircraft is in motion. Here in Brazil, unfortunatelly, we don't see the same thing: just after entering the first taxiway, most of the passengers get up and start getting their luggage on the upper compartments...

  • too fast on touch down you could tell when the wheel touched the ground

  • I agree it was too fast but I don't think it was really the wheel. You can still hop even going slow but it doesnt usually happen

  • Read up on the 737 documentation, in such conditions you should really aim to get the aircraft firmly on the ground. No parties trying to act like you're gliding onto a velvet cushion!

  • Turn all portable electronics off when aircrafts are departing and landing...

  • A Puny Camera Isnt Going To Do Much The Flight Attendants Dont Really Care....Its Just Theres The Most Bumps And You Got Drop It And They Could Get Sued E.T.C

  • They can't damage or turn off the systems... lol

  • Um, for you information, loser, they CANNOT physically TURN OFF any systems onboard the aircraft. It's been said already "Interfere". That's it.

  • This theory has been tested and debunked over and over. Cell phones are on a different frequency and do not interfere with radio communications.

In fact, the real reason people are asked to turn off electrical devices is because they are distracting -- during takeoff and landing are generally the most dangerous parts of a flight and the crew wants to make sure you are attentive at all times.

  • Yeah i have spoken with numerous Captains for British Airways and other airlines and they all confirm there is no effect on equipment, the only problem is on most commercial flights your flying too high for the phone to connect to the mast's!

  • your mama

  • Regardless of the weather condition, a good landing deserves clapping. Every flight that I've been on people have clapped on landing, including myself. So kudos to the pilots!

  • Awsome landing.

  • its sweet at the begining...when u can see the air coming off the wing...i love to see then when i fly

  • they are happy that they survived the trip :-)

    LOL

  • what were they clapping for

  • they clapped because they landed safely in bad weather

  • Are you kidding? What is your point?

  • i agree i also HATE when peapol are claping

  • I hate when people clap when the plane lands...save your claps for when you are at the gate exiting the plane....as a matter of fact dont clap at all.....

  • I agree, the pilots do it all the time, its not like an emergency landing or sumfin!

  • it's different on a big aircraft (747 or so) and winds. its more difficult then...

  • It's not wrong for you to clap. lols. You mean it's restricted onboard the aircraft or what?

  • i mean its annoying....search the TACA airlines video and listen to the people clapping and then seconds later the plane plows off the runway....save the calps for the boarding gate...

  • Pilots greatly appreciate being clapped on landing as it makes them happy that they've provided a good service.

  • If you wish to live a life not considering being thanked for the efforts you put in it proves the world caters for all. Be a bit social and actually appreciate and show respect to others instead of calling them gay asses for showing respect to someone else. Do you live that low?

  • you really think they can hear the clapping from within their closed cockpit ?

  • I don't think, I know.

  • I was talking to the original poster but I'm curious as to how you know.. Especially since I've worn the headsets that pilots wear and its noise isolating and the pilot cabin door would be closed.. And people clapping in the economy section wouldnt be heard..

  • The headsets pilots wear? So apparently, according to you, all pilots have the same headset? The headsets they wear aren't massive cups around the ears anymore, they get smaller and smaller every month. The 500's cockpit door isn't soundproof, they can hear everything from cabin announcements to seatbelts unclicking up there!

  • lol i have a huge headset, but i fly in a cessna 172. It's loud.

If you guys think jets are loud on the inside....lol

  • not really. Pretty annoying.

  • not really. It gets annoying!!!

  • @ScottsOne No they don't they like to be told "nice landing" or something stupid. Clapping just pisses them off.

  • @Erich64x2 i think claping is just being an ass ...well claping if its a sunny day w no wind.... ONLY CLAP IF THERES A FUCKING TORDADO OR SOMTHING well thats w i think if id be a pilot and theyd clap ill turd back:P lol and say no hollydays for you:P

  • try a direct flight?

  • Dosn't matter, they still stop. We had a "Direct" flight from Fort Lauderdale to Norfolk. We had to stop in Tampa. When we were going from Norfolk to Ft. L., we had to stop in Jacksonsville and Tampa then Fll.

  • because there's a difference between 'direct' and 'nonstop'. if you have a 'direct' flight, the fine print will read 'with an intermediate stop'. Then again, Southwest is great at turning their planes and leaving within 25 minutes, so it shouldnt be that big of a deal. try looking for nonstop flights next time.

  • Oh, okay, thanks.

  • Ok, then go ahead and fly with United and spend around $300 one way compared to less than $100.

  • No, all electronic devices must be stowed for taxiing, takeoff, and landing. It's so there are no distractions in the event that some malfunction occurs. Devices that emit microwaves are not allowed at any time during the flight.

Also, that flight attendant let his (bad) humor get the best of him. A flight attendant must be able to incorporate jokes into their announcements without changing anything too drastically.

  • arent all electrical devices supposed to be turned of during landing!?

  • Its usually just the electronic devices that emit microwaves. Such as Radios, Phones, Etc.

  • what kind of flight attendant was that? He barely spoke it professionaly!

  • of course its a 737 a 747 have longer wings

  • UH, Southwest needs to be more professional in their announcements.

  • You don't know much about Southwest, do you.

  • Actually I do.

  • wow...planeguy is an idiot.

  • Wow, I like F/As to act professional. Maybe thats why I don't fly on southwest (or maybe its because they don't fly to MKE?) An F/A can be funny and nice and still act professional.

  • Please turn off all electronic devices

  • why? in one of your videos your recording in an airplane when its in the air.

  • 1) He's videoing not calling anyone.

    2) the rumour that mobile phones interfere with the a/c systems is totaly untrue, it is said that it does as somewhat of a scare tactic which makes you not use them!

  • Mobile phones aren't permitted because while on a plane, using one will connect you to multiple towers to reak havoc on the network. It's actually more for the cell phone company. The airline tried to have an end to the rule, and the phone companies started freaking out and stopped them.

  • actually, the issue is because while a mobile phone can't get in touch with a tower, the signals are much stronger, and can easily interfere with almost any electronic device, the issue dose not arise when It got a tower.

  • they interfere with the radio communtications. some airlines though, such as emirates, are trying to permit the use of them.

  • Its an FAA law that you can use cell phones in flight, it messes with phones and towers under you in a cone shape from ur phone...

    -Student Pilot

  • fast approach but otherwise a good landing

  • How the hell can you tell how fast he was going??? Do you even know what kind of airlpane that is?

  • Looks like a 747. But yes, that was a fast approach.

  • if it is southwest, then it must be a 737. it is the only type of plane they have in their fleet

  • definitely not a 747. most likely a 737

  • It's a 737. the SHORTBUS! It's all SouthWest uses. heh.

  • Its a 737. All southwest airplanes are 737s.

  • I think its a 737 too. but fast approach and a hard landing. I wouldnt clap for it ;) lol !!

  • Why was that funny? Nobody laughed.

  • i don't get it...why was this funny?

  • well they did fly thru IFR conditions and looked OVC up there, thats what created a chuckle

  • nice landing in houston. funny talking :-)
