I grew up around motor bikes. I can tell you they are a cruel mistress to tame. One day you're riding into a skip of water, another under a limbo bar at a 50th Birthday party. You could cut through traffic by riding over Austin Marina's if you liked!
Hi was wondering if any 1 new where i could find clips of kickstart when it was held at Donington Park, as this is when my dad rode in it his name is "Peter Oakley"
What a great show. I'm not even interested in motorbikes but I loved this as a kid, just seeing such skill at play was magic. What happy memories. They'd probably never be able to get he insurance to make anything like this again...and with 'Elf and Safety breathing down their necks....
Thanks for uploading, Im 14 years old, I ride Trail/Enduro bikes but I want a Yamaha TY250 'Pinkie' I believe the old trials bikes are better than the new ones.
Thanks for putting this up its neat. I live right by where it took place. The ramp going down to the lake is still there, but most of the other jumps etc are rotten or gone now.
most of the natural type sections are still around, went there too last year, found the ramp down to the water still there too hiding behind the bushes. place hardly changed.
Lost count the number of times I've been in discussion with friends how it would be great to see something like this again. It would make great tv (I think!) Might even bring new blood back into the sport. Also ouldn't it be great to see the old greats like these + Vesty, Mart Lampkin etc etc do this again ON TWINSHOCKS!
oh this brings back memories. i used to love watching this when i was a youth. Even loved the computer game on the old commadore 16. Yes before the 64. The music is great, i always remember the music

This selfish group of people contribute nothing to local economies or the environment and are universally loathed by land owners, farmers and off road motorcycle enthusiasts. Motorcycling is a great hobby for the young, it teaches many skills and disciplines and of course IT'S GREAT FUN oh sorry I forgot, we're not allowed to have fun anymore are we Mr Brown?
Off road riding has been demonised and the good for nothing wrinkly old ramblers have decided that their rights are more important than anyone else's so they can now roam free over the countryside without being disturbed. cont...
@ekcoman Quite right. Most people (myself included) don't want to be disturbed by noisy, annoying bikes in the countryside (or on housing estates for that matter). And apart from anything else, it's illegal to ride off-road bikes in public areas.
@mistofoles i think your knowledge of the laws regarding off road motorcycle sport are some what lacking.
As for people riding motorcycles around your housing estate etc dont confuse those morons with normal decent honest people who ride in motorcycle events for fun and abide by the laws of this country.
The country side is for everyone weather it be walkers or people on bikes. The events i ride in people stick to riding were they should and there are no issues.
The government has killed motorcycle sport in this country. Farmers loose their subsidies if they hire out land for motor sports (it's ok for car boot sales though). continued...
if they can bring utter crap back like mr and mrs and endless series of family bloody fortunes then why cant they bring this back i think it'd make great early saturday evening viewing
you cant do this nowadays as the rozzers take your bike off you, should set up places where kids can ride, thats why kids wander about the streets because kids wrapped up in cotton wool by the nanny state
A few years ago, I wrote to Channel 5 to ask them to make Kickstart again (when they were obviously bereft of ideas) but alas they ignored me. Nag the BBC to put reruns on BBC3! It'd make a big change from cooking, houses and antiques all the time. Even non-bike fans liked Kickstart. Thanks Mouldytone!
Best tv ever remember when duggie was a lad ! bring it back beats ant and dec on every bloody channel !Top work mouldytone do you have copies of said dvds ? Id be interseted.
