  • 14 people don't like screwing...

  • The apple doesn't far fall from the tree, He was always going to be a drunk like his mother before him.

  • Wanker..

  • Love george best, but cant stand bobby slaphead as i call him, a bastard

  • Anybody who puts down people who have problems with drink, drugs etc. is a Dickhead......End of story.

  • My Grandad used to talk a lot to George Best in the early 1990's. Unfortunately my grandad lost his autograph.

  • Partied all his life, bedded dozens of miss worlds.....where did it all go wrong?

  • The effect of alcohol depends on the person and genetics...most of my family drink hard for 30-40 years and die at 85. However it does ruin peoples lives in many other ways.

He was possibly the best player ever to dribble a football but he couldn't take the pressure, yet he still leaves many great memories in those who saw him play (I'm only 23 so I can't comment there sadly). If alive he would be the same age as my dad is today (65). That is a sobering thought.

  • If he wasnt an acholic he might of lived a longer life.

    George Best WAS the BEST

  • Legend and as for George Best .

  • Who's that lying in the gutter,

Who's that writhing on the floor

It's poor old Georgie Best, and his liver's not the bust

And he won't be buying Stellas anymore!

Rot in Piss, filthy alcoholic tramp.

  • @8gotsplattered you sick, evil, rotten, scumbag prick. can you say for certain that he was filthy, or a tramp? No, you dirty heartless cunt, because you didn't know him. Alcoholism is as deadly a disease as cancer or pneumonia. I would know, because my grandfather had it too, and it eventually lead to his death. It's also as deadly as your SEVERE retardation. You are the one who should rot in piss, you bastard.

  • @patjoethebaker Ouch, that really hurt.....NOT! Fuck the Munich cunt.

  • @8gotsplattered fuck you Kopite prick, only arsehole Liverpool fans joke about Munich

  • Comment removed

  • @Dandeknee i read your comment before you removed it you wanker.

  • @8gotsplattered you utter bell end!!!

  • He would be one of the best of all time if it weren't for alcohol. Some people can take it, and some people can't he certainly couldn't. For people like him, you can't be around it ever. Even after getting a second chance he still drank. I mean with a guy like that what can you do. People like that eventually drink or overdose themselves to death and he was one of them. I'm surprised he even lasted that long to 59 almost 60.

  • he drank anytime and anywhere...he even killed himself with drink after his liver operation....that could have gone to someone more deserving who would have made the most of a second chance

  • He was an alcholic but was a football genius.

    Number 1 is Georgie Best...

  • If idiots like this get pissed just before they go on telly, they deserve all the ridicule they get.

  • GENIUS!

  • Irish piss head! Should of been arrested for being drunken and disorderly. That would of sobed him up.

  • @Professor6871

Terrible way to talk about Sir Terry...

  • CRACK .......i like screwing

  • he is frank gallagher hahahahaha

  • Remember this at the time. Didn't seem like a "set-up" tbh. Doubt George Best would have appeared on anything sober but, he wasn't stupid/Just human.

  • Very sad.

  • awww lighten up, it is a little funny

his life may have been cut short but at least he enjoyed the time he did have

  • Well,he paid for it with his life...Alcohol is the most incideous drug of them all, bring back prohibition!

  • what an arsehole, best wasnt the best player in the world ffs he was at best a phil neville, you always see the same goals over & over-funny they cover about 9 games in total!!! he was a lazy cunt in life & the game ,wogan was a twat fer even havin him & that toss pot denis law on-how bad mustv the world of showbiz been 2 get these 2 freaks on when its not even the anniversary of munich or anythin 2 do with anythin, dickheads

  • two cunts in one room. wogan, and a weak, self centered, wifebeating bastard.

  • @mcwolfus It was never proven that he beat his wife. I'd say it was the other way round. I'd say he was so drunk most of the time that it was probably more a case of her beating him. As for Terry Wogan, he was a moron for allowing the interview to go ahead if he saw how drunk George was, but that's the BBC for you!

  • im a liverpool fan but george best was an utter legend for this interview

  • As an addition to my last post......Fuck you Wogan you're a CUNT! Will people be talking about you and watching you on Youtube when you are dead?.....I doubt it!

  • He was pissed so what. The man is a legend and was one of the greatest people ever to kick a football. RIP George.

  • Set up

Exploiting an alcoholic is just wrong.

  • Terry Wogan is an exploitative scumbag, he's the British version of Maury Povich.

  • wogan, go fuck yourself .

you see yourself as english, not even british, so who gives a fuck what you think. and the upper class english accent aswell, arent you from fuckin cork wogan?

  • Well said, Imamummy.

  • Terry Wogan there, laughing about an alcoholic who walks on to his show drunk. "I can see him coming at me from across the stage. The eyes are glazed.". Terry's eagle eyes noticing from afar, what nobody in the production team had noticed from closer contact.

I wonder what Terry Wogan's moral stance is, on famous Irish men appearing on family oriented TV whilst under the effects of alcohol? I wonder.

  • Alcoholic, but great player, and good guy too

    RIP Georgie, simply, the BEST

    Love United!

  • Im a United fan but honestly the cheeky cunt got a liver transplant on the NHS!

And then continued to drink! Cheeky cunt. Great player though.

  • Sorry, I'm not english. There is someone who can to write what they are said??

  • Wogan had- for a very long time- a funny radio show. On TV he was cruel and opportunistic. The treatment dished out to people like Best and David Icke was abhorrent and painful to watch. Best had his faults, but Wogan and his producers should have shown alittle compassion.

  • He wasn't a genius he was just a footballer, a very good footballer, one of the best! But who cares if Maradonna was better or Pele? It's just a game of football... people will always have their own opinion on who was better. It's the same with all sports, was Louis better than Ali, is Borg better than Federer. Why do people get so angry when someone disagrees about which footballer or sportman was the best... isn't there more important things in life to worry or get angry about?

  • @TheShadowsShadow1888 no Louis was nowhere near Ali in terms of skill (I'm a boxer and anyother boxer who hasn't taken too many punches will tell you the same), Borg was nowhere near Federer.

  • @IrelandRaven My whole point which failed to see was.... it's pointless making comparisons, then what do you do? start comparing straight away! i'm not going to compare people from different era's.... You can only be the best of your time, and that's as good as it gets!

  • As a footballer, great. But as a civilised human being, downright disgusting.

  • @talende hardly downright disgusting, getting a new liver and continuing to drink was terrible, but other than that, he was actually a great person.

  • RIP The Best!

  • Its rumoured Best turned so yellow, that he nearly got a part in the Simpsons.

  • So was this posted by a fan or a detractor of George Best? I'm always curious why post these things. I usually assume the reason is just to get a view count.

  • As Oliver reed, i guess he had to,live up to his Piss head ways.

    Miss you man.

    RIP George

  • Maradonna couldn't touch the Man of Magic George Best!

  • He only had one transplant, 1+1 = 2, the most skilful footballer to play the game. Yes he was a flawed human being, but Maradonna is a coke-fiend, you didn't mention that taobhchlea. Best met the criteria for liver transplant i.e. 6 months' abstinence, he started drinking again afterwards, but that happens to plenty of non-celebrities too.

  • The criteria for liver transplant for non celebs is at least 2 years abstinent. My father has been dry for 5 years now, has the commonest blood group and has spent 3 years on the waiting list, 1 as "urgent". Please don't spread false information or make the ridiculous assertion that George Best met any criteria and wasn't bumped to the top of the list because he's famous. Best made a mockery of the transplant system and his donor in his usual selfish manner, & no amount of talent belies that.

  • great george!!:D...the best!!!

  • Knowing the morals of the media, I am sure that they were more than happy to keep his glass topped up before the show to ensure a "spectacle".

    Anyway, he was a genius......

  • First of all, it's not funny. Alcoholism isn't funny. It's a nightmare for the alcoholic, who sometimes pretends it's funny, to disarm criticism. Ask an alcoholic's partner. Poor George: he couldn't get honest enough to admit the true nature of his illness until it was too late. His ego got in the way, and it killed him. R.I.P.

  • alcoholics arent suffering it's the people around them who do that no they are quite happy and enjoy their families worring about them!

  • @juniormcfadden I KNOW THANK YOU.

    PRAY 4 US WITH THIS

    "DISEASE".

  • @juniormcfadden well said. I totally agree with your comment.

  • @juniormcfadden Put alcoholics in prison they'd sobber up over night. There danger too themselves and society. Its the do gooders who'd make excuses for these twats for their drunken behaviour's. Years ago they'd of ended up in mental hopitals.

  • @Professor6871 What does "sobber up" mean? Do they sit and sob?

  • @strummerocks It could mean regaining the self control that a person loses when under the influence of too much alcohol. Its no concidence that alcoholism and mental illness are inextricably linked as they are. More murders have been committed while somebody has been drunk than sobber.

  • @juniormcfadden second of all, alcoholism isn't an "illness". That's an insult to people with a real illness. A habit, yes. An addiction, yes. But it most certainly isn't an "illness".

  • blitzed jackey deadbeat loser

  • shut ur face dickhead and have some respect

  • Respect for what? A selfish piss head who went through three livers thereby depriving a couple of genuine cases of a second chance at life? The man was a waster and an alright footballer but he was no Maradonna, so stop getting carried away with yourself

  • you gotta have some pity for him, he was hopelessly addicted, and he only had the 2 livers, not 3 :).,..Maradona good; Pelé better; George Best

  • Do your maths again: his original liver and 2 transplants makes 3 in total. Can't agree with your top footballers choice either, I wouldn't have Best in my top 10. That's just my opinion mind you. Pity is something I feel for the children who were waiting for a liver while Best's celebrity status git him bumped up the list. Sad to see a man so un-able/unwilling to control his life.

  • I love the you "have to pity him" comment from conaught "he only had the two livers, not three!" like we are all five and George has had a extra go on a computer game!" It's refreshing to see the subjects of who should get a transplant taken so seriously! You'd beforgiven for forgetting George won those transplants in a raffle! Anyway he's got be top five at least in footballing terms at least!

  • Well, hididdly, obviously you know nothing about being an alcoholic ... why do you think so many of them die before their time? Or are locked up in hosptal or jail ... do you think they are enjoying themselves then? Yes, the people around alcoholics also suffer unfortunately. The disesa (for that is what it is) affects the alcoholic & those around him or her. Was George Best enjoying himself on his death bed? He should still be alive today, but for his alcoholism.

  • "terry i like screwing"...lol

  • Brill! What did they expect him what he used too do with Miss World play tiddly winkers with her?

  • legend

  • Yeah, drinking loads off piss, travelling the world, having sex with beautiful women on a daily basis, having piles off money, having a ball every night. That sounds like hell! He lived to 59, not a bad ininngs considering his lifestyle. I for one don't what to die in a pool of my own sh*t in an old people's home with a zimmer frame in front of me, with a stomach full of pills that they shoved down my throat. George Best was the man! RIP brother!

  • Shame he won't see his grandkids though not that I'd imagine he'd give a shit eh bigshot that he was!LOL

  • ut through and well said brother, totallu agree ;-)

  • Yeah he liked screwing, screwing his life up!

  • bitta respect mate!

  • Alcoholism= excuse to behave like a arsehole!

  • Yeah mate, you're spot on. Every alcoholic in the world is just doin it cos they want an excuse to behave like an arsehole!! Are you an alcoholic by any chance???

    Fuckin twat!!!!

  • Are you a alchy! You fucking waster!

  • He chose the bottle it did not choose him!

  • II never, at any point, said that the bottle chose George Best. He had an addiction, he tried it, liked it but got addicted. He didn't set out to be an alcoholic. It was something that he felt is body just couldn't do without. It's not a narcissists disease, it's a fuckin ADDICTION! I don't particularly like alcoholics either, but my original point was that Wogan exploited George Best for his own benefit. I'm not saying Best was an angel but he was a hell of a lot closer than Wogan will ever be!

  • George Best was a idiot anybody else would of woke up the next day and went "Oh my God!" Made an arse of my self there time to knock it on the head!" Not George though no Wogan set him up! Wake up great footballers often end up acting like spoilt little boy's and idiots like yourself defending his behaviour don't make it any easier for people to accept they need to sort themselves out so carry on making excuses for a man who couldn't accept he was wrong! Wogan's not to blame grow up!

  • George Best was the BEST footballer ever to walk this planet!! I'm NOT defending his behaviour. For anyone with an ADDICTION it's not just as simple as waking up the next day and saying OMG Time to knock this on the head!! I'm guessing your Mr Perfect with no addictions! And Best CONTINUALLY ADMITTED that his behaviour was killing him, If he couldn't accept that he was wrong do you think he would have went into rehab and had the liver transplant?? Nah, neither do I!!

  • And Terry Wogan IS to blame for George makin a cunt of himself in this Interview. Like I said, He got a world famous alcoholic onto his live show and laid on a free bar, surely even someone like you would realise that that is like leaving a paedophile to babysit your kids! It's not hard to realise that is guarenteed to be a disaster!! But for his own benefit, Wogan simply ignored decency and supplied a man who wanted and needed help for his addiction with as much drink as he could manage!!

  • I love the paedo analogy you could be the new Alan Partridge! Yeah George Best got pinned down and Wogan shoved a funnel in his mouth then poured the drink down, big baby who couldn't take responsibility for anything! P.S you should pack the drink in a and buy a dictionary!

  • Drink is indiscriminate to all colour, class and creed. He lived to near enough 60, If I had the life he had since he was 16 I'd happily die at 50, rather than being some embittered 85-90 year old in a home shitting my pants every 10 mins! lol

  • It's not quite that simple though George Best wasn't ever happy thats why he kept drinking and as for 85-90 comment George Best had the body of a man of that age thats why he died. I know what your trying to say but your logic is all wrong!

  • The logic of my statement is that he lived life the way he wanted, and nobody's perfect, far from it. If you played, looked, were as rich as, famous as George Best and had the media breathing down your neck and winding you up constantly, it would be difficult not to fall at least partially for some vice as a coping mechanism. Bottom line is, it was his life not yours, and a higher power will judge him, not you.

  • I agree he did what he wanted but the tragedy of his life should've been his short football career! He could've stayed away from the media! You can't blame them! He was a idiot anyone who becomes a alchoholic is simple as that!

  • For one, he played 9 years at man united, and other clubs beyond that. What he gave to football was unparelled, life works in strange ways, with his God-gifted talent came an opposite and equal affliction.

  • To say anyone who 'becomes' an alchoholic is an idiot, is an idiot themselves! Some alchoholics get through it and stay sober, but it's rare in general, it's a disease and something you're born with. It's like an allergy, you eat eg: shellfish, are allergic, and come out in a rash. It's the same for someone who's alchohol dependent, only once they have a drink, the chemical and phycological response is to need another drink.

  • Also, your argument is flawed, why should the tradgedy of his life be his short football career?

  • he had an IQ of 152 and was very intelligent, that's my point, some alchoholics are worse that others, idiocy and intelligence are nothing to do with it.

  • Well define idiot if you can't put the bottle down what does that make you? He didn't play in the Man U first team that long! 5 seasons! I think! He picked up a bad injury that should have retired anyone the year after they won the european cup! Was then unable to train right or anything but still played out of his skin for some considerable time! Top goalscorer setting all sorts of records! It has been said his drinking spiraled as he was using it to relieve the pain from his knee!

  • That should have been the tragedy of his life! Not dying while still a young man! Not seeing his son for years! He could have had a great life and stil be alive today, one of the greatest footballers ever! In the top three! But his destructive nature isn't what made him great!

  • Top three my arse.

  • fuck you

  • No fuck you and I'm right!

  • You actually believe that you are right?? What a complete toss bag you really are!!

  • Ohh touchy hit a nerve with old eight ace! He should of exercised some self control! We could all be alcoholics it's a narcissists disease! Drinking isn't for me turns me into a idiot, as it does with everyone! But I'm one of those people who realises it! So does not do it! Best had everything and threw it away! Idiot nothing romantic about it! Selfish twat!

  • That cunt Wogan should've been hung for setting Best up like that!! Since this interview I have never watched or listened to anything presented by Wogan. He's a fuckin arsehole!!!

  • twit.

  • @BurbeQue how was it terrys fault

  • Isn't it a bit inconsiderate to lay on booze for an alcoholic prior to him goin on TV to do an interview??? Wogan surely knew it would be a disaster but prob did it anyway, knowing that millions would tune in and give him top ratings and make himself look talented. Best clearly needed and wanted help for his addiction and Wogan exploited his addiction for his own benefit!! The guy's a fuckin wank!!

  • How clever was it for the producers to place a man suffering from alcoholism in a dressing room stocked with booze prior to his interview?...which is what happened here. It was a shameful way to set this man up knowing about his addiction.

  • @Imamummy2 yes i so agree with that comment, they did it with olly reed as well

  • @Imamummy2 It was almost as disgraceful as when they invited David Icke,

who was also mentally ill, onto the same chat show so the audience could laugh at and mock him the way the public once jeered at the inmates of Bedlam. A similar

thing happened to Kerry Katona on THIS MORNING a year or 2 ago. There should be rules in place to protect vulnberable people from this kind of public

    himiliation.

  • @chris276100 The David Icke one was hilarious while this was just awaful.

  • @Professor6871

In all probabability, Icke is mentally unbalanced...and that's hilarious is it?

  • @theyorkshirewhites yes you might be right about David Icke but it was still funny him making a fool of himself on national TV. If he was that unbalanced he should have been sectioned.

  • @Imamummy2

    indeed a big shame!

Best only showed up drunk because the producers gave him the opportunity to get drunk

  • Terry chickened out.............

  • oh dear yes it was funny but he had a serious problem.

  • wogan should have continued the interview , the audience were laughing with George, not at him !

  • My dad is from east Belfast - makes me proud

  • lol

  • damn i'd like to see the full interview. someone should upload it

  • that was it..

  • george best was born in belfast northern ireland therefore a part of britain making him british 4 countries make up great britain england scotand wales and northern irish so he was both irish but also british

  • Actually i's part of the United Kingdom... i.e. the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Britain is just the 3 mainland countries....not that I care about the argument, but might as well keep facts straight.

  • johnisfun (facts)if ur born in ireland ur irish, (jew, pole, paki wog best)

  • wogan your a prick

  • GEORGE THE BEST

  • GEORGE the BEST

  • how long did this interview last for??

  • The BBC were idiots for alllowing him onto the show in that condition. What a shameful display.

  • Best was like the Beckham of football every one was watching him and wanted to hear from. The whole flash nice clothes, nice cars and nice houses were not heard of. Most footballers had jobs if we could do that today footballers would appreciate football and the privilege.

  • (Q) What have George Best and Gary Glitter got in common ?

    (A) They were both told one more tot could kill them !

  • How cringeworthy especially all that sympathetic laughter. Arguably the biggest waste of talent of all time.

  • 99archers what do you mean a brit?georgie is irish, and you might make the argument britain contains northern ireland well it does'nt britain consists of england, wales and scotland.

  • Exactly!

  • george was not irish. he was from a protestant east belfast family, and therefore was british.

if you're gonna try and be political, at least get ur facts right!!!!

  • You should get your facts straight...just because you are protestent doesn't make your british. up to ten percent of prods who make up the population of the republic call themselves Irish. Also, how can you be British if you are not from Britain? Are Algerians and Morrocans really French, or Ethiopians actually Italian? Stupid Paddy Irish who don;t even know what country they are from.

  • Prods who live in the republic have nothing to do with this. Almost all prods in NI have british, not irish passports. You are a misguided fool, and your opinion is like a wart - ill-formed and unwanted.

  • yeaterday, i watched "best:his mother's son" and it was sooo sad!! he had soo much potential and yet he retired at 27!! i think george messed it up by himself altho, he missed trainin sessions, missed matches and had gotten himself suspended bt i do feel sorry 4 him!! the way they showed the ending - so sad!

  • it's a shame about him

    R.I.P

  • George best had his problems off the pitch, its eazy to point fingers and say it was all his own fault but he had personal problems and family issues off the pitch. However, on the field he was the greatest player of his generation. GEORGE BEST: LEGEND

  • does any no how long the interveiw lasted?

surely it wasn't just what we see hear?

  • It's funny until you hear that his father didn't speak to him for a year after this and how much this interview hurt him.

  • I wouldn't expect it from a Brit, but ...greatest mullet. ever.

  • i dont admire any man who has everything..yet blows his chance...there are millions of bums like this allover the world..what a despicible loser

  • Wow that's a bit harsh! He was an alcoholic, an addict. I've been sucked into alcoholism before and I can tell you it is VERY hard to stop, espiecally if you have money to burn like George did.

  • its called a weak mind...........end of........it not a disease or any of that crap........its just people with no substance ......we all have problems in life how we choose to deal with them is our own choice..the guy was a prick who`d have fucked your mum and treated her like shit,,,he was the worse type of man there is..scum

  • Shut up you lowlife retard. Minds don't come weaker than your pussie boy

  • the lowlife retard was george best and any other pisshead.."pussie boy"

  • It's not called a weak mind. Sure, he wasn't a great person, but alcoholism is not necessarily only in weak minded people. I for one was a heroin addict, and it's definitely not a disease. However, once you're addicted, the strongest mind in the world has trouble quitting. You must hit rock bottom before you can climb out.

  • lol He had everything because he took his chance.. ok then blew it. what have you done lately except getting a bigger Girth fat bastard.

  • people are saying its not funny but at least he was enjoying himself, he had a few laughs in his life time and although it was cut short from the booze, i bet he enjoyed life more than those on their high horses looking down and pitying him.

  • this is funny as fuck hahaha

  • marry me!

  • Thats not one bit funny...

    Such a waste..

    Heart breaking to see that...

    He needed help... badly!

Hes still a genius even though he made a few mistakes in his life, but I guess that could be part of his genius as well.....

  • Brilliant player - straight out of Belfast! And as the man himself said .... 50% of his wealth he spent on women and drink .... and the rest he just squandered!!!

  • Is anyone else watching through their fingers? Cringe..

  • poor guy

  • we all know he didnt waste his talent ...it was wasted for him,by th media...they wouldnt give him 2 fuckin seconds . so he turned 2 th bottle

  • Do you want a pint of stella georgie best, Do you want a p;int of stelle georgie best...

Do you want a pint of stella, your going fucking yella,

Do you want a pint of stella georgie best...Oy Oy

  • LEGEND!!!

  • R.I.P. BESTIE !!!

The Belfast Boy, Football Legend !!!

  • He hardly wasted his talent. Fair enough, he would have been even better if he wasn't an alcoholic, but he still remains one of, possibly THE greatest player ever. But to say he wasted his talent is harsh. The fact he could go out on a friday night, get blind drunk, wake up on the saturday morning and run rings around everyone on the pitch says alot for his astounding talent doesn't it? Show some respect for the man, he is a legend!

    R.I.P Georgie Best.

  • on the pitch he could beat everyone off the pitch he cudnt beat himsef

  • Just read his book and your comment is spot on.

  • best of alltime. give him a break. rip

  • Man if their was ever a case of if only. Good guy, great footballer, terrible struggles.

  • Poor Bestie. God bless ya

  • A complete setup up by Wogan...

"I know we'll get Bestie on the show but 1st we will leave him in the VIP Room with as much drink as you can poke a stick at..." You can see the results = Increase in ratings.

Best was an alcoholic + terminally in decline from his mid 20's do you really think he signed up for that...? + we can talk all day about the liver but he is not with us today regardless and should be given a bit of leeway.

God bless + I worship the ground that you walked on. RIP.

  • hey im gonna waste everything i have for drink then half raise a cunt for a waster loser son...who am i ?? im george best :)

  • What a gross "man"

  • This was quite similar to Joe Namath's lame attempt at flirting with Suzy Kolber.
