For anyone who dosn't have a passing interest in the inside of a PC, it helps to do at least some research before going to PC world.
When they tell you it's an Intel Celeron M processor then you chould at least be able to make a rough guess at how good that is for your needs, this kind of laptop isn't anything special and it isn't a good idea to go for the lowest spec computer, not at the rate technology evolves.
i agree I myself have an Apple Macbook its like a Ferrari in quality and in performance compared to that pile of Junk. On a mac to transfer files I use firewire its much quicker.
you can get firewire PCI cards for PC's, I have to have firewire i edit film and you need firewire in order to transfer the film from the camera to the computer and then i can edit it in final cut studio
Firewire is needed because its the most convenient way. firewire is 800mb/s. or firewire 400 is 400mb/s. you can't properly transfer film through usb. if you connect the camera via usb it comes up as an external hard drive. what can be a good thing.
but all the pro's use firewire for fast transfer. I prefer it over usb don't really no why it didn't become the industry standard. its faster and better.
Have got rid now and upgraded, actually anything is an upgrade compared to this, it just used to cause me stress constantly, I swear it used to piss me off on purpose and laugh at me but that might be a seperate case, actually no buying this was part of my insanity as well, I've passed it onto my parents (cruel I know) now so it will most probably haunt me forever more, there bound to need my help on a regular basis with this machine. :D

My first computer build was an Intel Celeron. Every build after that, I never used a low or mid spec CPU AGAIN.
For those looking at new laptops, take some advice from Apple. When they switched to Intel they stuck with the Core 2 platform for good reason.

Firewire has a slower transfer speed than USB 2.0

thats where your wrong firewire is 800mb/s & 400mb/s USB is about 450mb/s. So firewire is better
