  • Hey, H4T, so what's the status on the Python these days? Did you shoot it, or find another one that is worn for shooting?

I personally would never shoot a mint Python, their value is just going to keep going up.

  • @MikeReiner I still just look at it and store it lol, love that revolver.

  • Oh ya HUGE find H4T

  • If u find another I'd agree with the don't shoot it idea. It's RARE to find a 75 that mint.. I've got a well worn 70 that I love. HUGE score H4T I'm happy for u

(But at least work the hammer a bit:)

  • if your not planning on getting rid of that gun, shoot it. its a gun, theres millions out there like it. a cold, unfired, shiny, no scratch guns are nice. but if i had a choice, i would rather a gun that i put 10,000 rounds through. one that i could tell you a story about every single scratch on it. one that is solely 'MY GUN'. when people see it, they wouldn't think, wow thats a nice 1975 mint colt. they'd think thats HIS gun. happiness is a warm gun.

  • Don't shoot it! It's too nice! Wait to get another one! Haha just my advise!

  • This was my grandfather's prized possession. His son, my Uncle owns this today and perhaps it will be handed down to me. Great video and wonderful memories

  • So are you going to ever fire it? I would recommend firing it six times, once for each chamber hole. You should try it out, if just once.

  • Beautiful gun. This was one of the first handguns me and my dad used to used when he taught me how to handle firearms.

Great review. Makes me want one now...

  • never fired so sad i feel bad for that gun

  • Paul is obviously a wise man. These fine vintage revolvers will NEVER again be equaled. Pauls Python is investment grade. Twenty years from now try finding one like his. Prepare to cough up $5,ooo. or more.

  • @floridafyme Yeah they only go one way and that is UP

  • @floridafyme I have a colt python and i fired it about 6 times saved my life twice when i was hunting alone and 4 wild boars ran at me and one shot in each head and when i was hunting in alaska a kodak bear raided our camp and i poped 2 or 3 shots in the skull before one of my buddys caped him in the head with a 300. weatherby mag i mean the python ended the bear

  • It's Colts finest DA revolver.I have read that the barrel inside diameter decreases from breech to muzzle. If you have to shoot it,buy a used one.I bought mine new in 1975,have fired at least 3000 HOT reloads through it.It's still tight as new.

  • im shopping a python but not a safe queen but a clean shooter...the issue is most sellers have safe queen prices on shooter guns .......

  • The most beautiful revolver ever made!

  • @shortguy632 Python or Smith N frames

  • Good luck finding a Python that is reasonably priced.

By 'Reasonably' I mean one that can be bought for less than a new car.

I have seen 2 in the last 10 years that were actually for sale.

Both of them were in 'Unshot' condition (Widows getting cash for the dead husbands toys).

$2500.00 for the LESS expensive one.

Lots of people bought Pythons after Dirty Harry made "Magnums" a legend.

(even though Harry's gun was a Smith & Wesson Model 29)

So there are lots of them still out there.

    I guess.

  • Did the custom pythons ever offer some options that could take away that deal where you have to lift the latch to put the cylinder back? That seems to be a nusance to me.

  • @herofromthedark you don't have to i have shot one and it makes S&W revolvers look like junk so smooth and crisp trigger i love them need to find one well used so they look nice if you ask me the only ugly gun is a new one or new looking i'd take some 2k grit sandpaper to that thing

  • @masterofnotmuch2

Ah, cool stuff. Thanks for the info.

  • Nice revolver you have there..... I would go crazy if I had a firearm that I couldn't shoot/didn't want to. I guess if you were in it for an investment for the long term I would understand for re-sale value.

If your not going to sell it, I would shoot the darn thing.

  • The Rolls Royce of revolvers.

  • She's a real beauty, that is the exact model that Crosman used for it's pellet pistol.

  • I'm not a big gun junkie but I want one of these. bad.

  • I have 3 Pythons and always looking for more...I am former FFL dealer, I have a number of Colt single action army revolvers all never fired.. I am a gun guy as they say..I spend my day looking at guns, buying guns when possible, reading about guns... I say all this so you will get a good idea that I am not a leftest or liberal, now to my point...your screen name "Humans for targets" is disturbing, its alarming, its scrary, and above all in very bad taste to say the least.

  • BTW, do you have a Smith and Wesson 460 that you could do a video on? Was a bit curious about that

  • These guns are very expensive.. anywhere between $1,000-$2,000.

  • @erkoekrf Yes they are.

  • @humans4targets2 I have been looking at 2. One is stainless steel manufactured 1983 with a six inch barrel, original paperwork for $2000 and the other is a 4inch barrel blue showing some holster wear for $850.

  • @erkoekrf 1000 cod points to be exact

  • Don´t shoot it for f-ks sake!

  • Hey thanks for nice vid ! I have just located a few days ago one of these Colt Python's 357 just 20kms away from my location, the gun is new, yes, new ! It was a present for a guy that never used it at the gun club ! I feel lucky and of course I bought that piece of history for myself ! I just have to wait for the authorization a few months before I can use it myself... Cheers and regards.

  • This gun was in the original resident evil on the ps1, thanks for showing us the real thing :-)

  • Colt Pythons a the greatest .357's ever made, they need to start making them again.

  • I also know exactly how you feel about this gun and its age,I am the same age as my dads Smith & Wesson 586 .357 (built 1989) a very special gun to me too,i always had fun at the range when i was 12 shooting that thing. I hope revolvers never go out of style.

  • The same ones used by the Vigilante Cops in Magnum force! same exact look! nice nice find!

  • That thing will be a prized relic one day.

Pass it down to your grand or great grand kids one day.

  • I hate to say it...but...it looks like the gun from Call of Duty...there I said it, hate me for it, but I think so. ;D

  • @Hteam1422 Maybe cause it is?But yeah as long as u dont go all "OMGZ THAT GUN IS ON BLACK OPZ LOL" its cool

  • I respect your skepticism when it comes to firing it, and OldEphram does make a good point. However, I've always been a mint condition kind of a guy, and if I were you I'd probably do what you said and buy a used one that you don't have to worry about getting dinged up or anything. I'd probably be so paranoid about nicking it at the range or something that I wouldn't even be able to enjoy shooting it haha. It's been like 15 months since this video though have you made a decision on it yet?

  • Shoot it. Have you seen how many unfired Pythons there are on Gun Broker. Everybody is afraid to shoot them. Shoot it, make it yours.

  • @humans4targets2 how much did you get this gun for????

  • this is the only colt python review i could find. i gotta say H4T you got the gun review championship title right now on youtube lmao not to mention you got a waxing of the beautiful python. thanks a million brother. i luv that colt so so so much. i want the same as yours but the 8 inch. lmfao @ 7:33 "im really happy" im so jealous lol can't wait to get mind. great review

  • @tweezee Thanks bro, hope you find a good one and they are out there!

  • @humans4targets2 beautiful gun, sir! I envy you :)

  • SMOOTHEST COCKING ROTATING FIRING REVOLVER I HAVE OWNED THOUGH IT WAS SHORT LIVED I KNEW IT WAS QUALITY BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I HAD, I SOLD BOTH A PYHTON AND A DIAMONDBACK BOTH FOR 1100, HAD 400 IN BOTH, A GUY WAS LEFT ALOT OF GUNS AND DIDN'T KNOW THE VALUE CALLED ME MADE OFFER SO I TOOK IT, EVEN I DIDN'T KNOW AT THE TIME WHAT THEY WERE WORTH, I SHOT BOTH AND LIKED THE SMALLER DIAMONDBACK THE BEST, I MEAN YOU COULD LAY YOUR THUMB ON THE HAMMER AND IT'S WEIGHT COULD ALMOST COCK IT, SMOOTH GUN

  • is this the dirty harry gun, i mean by that the kind of gun which was used

  • lol thats an awesome dream you had

  • that's a nice piece of history you have there.

  • I have worked on Swiss watches. There is some comparison to a fine revolver but not much. A revolver must withstand head pressure of a fired round. The revolver is well fitted but it cannot be compared to a Swiss watch mechanism. Case Closed

  • Fire It....Do it!!!!!

  • dude ... i 've seen this video so many times... its not even funny... if i had that gun i'd use white gloves to handle it...lol.. beautiful gun!!

  • thats a cool looking gun but where i come from we can't have any guns only low powered air weapons which are boring after a while.

  • I have two 6" Royal Blue Pythons. One is new and unfired and the other is a shooter. Once you start shooting a Python every other double action revolver will be a step down. They really are the Rolls Royce of revolvers!

  • The Rolls Royce of revolvers.

  • Colt pythons are my Crack i see them and if i got the money i've got to have it. As far as your talking about that salesman that made you hold it with a towel, I've got a nib 4" stainless that i'll make anyone hold it over a pillow and with a flannel cloth. Luckily i picked up my other phthon in 1997 and my uncle willed me a nickel python.

  • @WiIdbiII That is a very good way to take care of your guns, and the Pythons are great!

  • @humans4targets2

YOU HAVE TO PULL IT BACK YOU'LL NEVER COCK ANOTHER, AS SMOOTH, IF YOU LOVE IT NOW JUST WAIT, TIL YOU PULL IT BACK, IT'S JUST LIKE SEX LOL. AFTER I SOLD THE TWO I HAD I SEEN ONE IN THE SAME CONDITION AS MINE FETCH 2200 ON GB AND EVEN MORE ON GA. I NEDDED MONEY AND MADE A PROFIT BUT AFTER RESEARCH I REGRETED IT IMMEDIATELY, I KNOW IF I WANT ONE NOW IT WILL COST ME, AND WAY MORE THAN WHAT I SOLD BOTH FOR, YOUR A LUCKY MAN. YOU REALLY MAKE QUALITY VIDS, NICE WORK

  • Finish looks nice in the light especially.

  • Put it up for investment purposes. Get a Ruger or Smith for competion. Your Colt will only increase in value. And decrease if you fire it much.

  • Great Colt man! I know exactly how you feel I finally got myself a Polytech Legend a few weeks ago and despite it not being my most costly rifle it is the most valuable to me. My new 'white whale' is definitely an early production Royal Blue Python. Even more so would be the 'Snake Eyes' set, but I doubt that'll ever happen. Anyways, beautiful revolver thanks for sharing!

  • It's a gorgeous revolver. I'm going to try to get one made in 1993 (the year I was born).

  • Beautiful Python man. I'm jealous. :)

  • Congratulations, great story! Hope you're enjoying that beauty!

  • I just recently purchased a 1962 Python 6" blue in 99%. Yours is a beautiful gun congrats.

  • Beautiful. There is one for sale at a local gun shop. I just can't pull the trigger. LOL Pun intended. Every time I go there I drool over it, but it's just too much money for me justify buying it. Someday maybe. Very nice, enjoy it.

  • my dad has almost the same exact gun....barrel length, finish, and handle are all the same...my dads was made in the 80's though.....pulling the hammer back on it just can't be matched by any other gun

  • is my favorite colt beautiful

  • Congrats! I have several, and for a few years I competed with nothing but an 8" Python. Hope you get a shooter. If you do, you'll sit around dry firing for hours. There's nothing like it.

  • @markflier44 Yeah I love the this guns action is, like a Swiss watch

  • @humans4targets2 is this double action or single action or both

  • even though this is a firearm this got emotional lol

  • Comment removed

  • Congrats on your Python! I have a 1975 Python also, 6" with nickel finish. Mine was 98% finish, no box or papers, I shoot it occasionally and every time I do, it reminds me of just why I wanted a Python for so many years. Mid 70's are my favorites of the line, the second version grips just look and feel better than the earlier full checkered and the later Pachmar rubber grips.

  • That's a beautiful handgun!

  • NICE GUN!

  • iam remenber in 1982 have 20 year old in bethesda maryland shoot whit is gun in country side iam never forget it wass great day

  • that is a sweet python. if it was mine i would shoot it, a bunch lol. but that would decrease its value. i couldnt resist through .

    very nice

    ~john

  • Beautiful Handgun. I wish I could find a Colt Python. Handguns are harder to come by in Canada compared to the USA.

  • how rare are these?

  • Well they have not been made for ten years and how many 30 year old guns you seen that look like this.

  • I love Colt Pythons, the one I have is stainless 6" barrel manufactured in 1968.

  • WOW tahts nice!

  • I got a Python this weekend. 4" blued. It's not "mint", but closer to like 95-97%...I fired 50 rounds through it today. The action is beyond superb. Mine is a '75 as well--I was born in '74, so I getcha on that. Pulling the tab back makes perfect sense. The cylinder lock/tab doesn't clear if the rounds are not seated all the way in either. I figured that out when trying to close it a couple times.

Such beautiful works of art really.

  • These are awesome guns, glad you found one!

  • I have a Diamondback which my fater bought me over 25 years ago. I would never part with it...

  • I wouldn't shoot it if I were you. I was lucky enough to pick up the Colt Python in Royal Blue in 2 1/2, 4, 6 and 8", mint condition, new in box unfired. Walnut grips on all if them. Mine have tripled in value. I also have all of the Diamondbacks in blue in Mint condition. The lockworks are polished on the Pythons and they are works of art. Nice video!

  • I've never understood Colt's business philosophy. It seems every time they get a good model ( Python, SF-VI, etc. ) they wind up putting them out of production. Does anyone know why Colt got out of the double action revolver business while S&W seems to have expanded their market share?

  • I am so envious of you! In my opinion, Pythons really are the definitive .357 magnum revolvers. I really wish I could get one soon. Dad almost bought one over 20 years ago, and how I wish he would have!

Keep this gun in your family, it truely is an American classic.

  • of course is gun IS NOT FOR SALES

  • my favotite video and jade goro video of course

  • great video iam french iam remenber in 1982in bethesda maryland when iam buy my first colt pyton it was great day

  • thats awesome

  • LOL!

  • If I where you I would specail display case for the gun. Very nice purchase.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm green with envy! Take care of that thing so I can buy it off you some day!

  • Wait a second.. you didn't even pull the hammer back yet?

  • Yep. I know what you are saying h4t2. The Python is my favorite wheel gun of all time, and I would even give up my Sig and other SA Pistols for one of those.

  • Yes, it is just a sweet gun!

  • Very nice ! Subbed to you.

  • Much thanks bro. h4t

  • A lot of people will say, "don't shoot it" however, think about it. Do you really want to have a revolver that you might keep for thirty years or more, only to have someone else shoot it after you're gone?

Go ahead and shoot it, and enjoy it. You won't lose much value if it's properly cared for, even if you do shoot it.

That story about gun value dropping way down if you shoot them is a fallacy. As long as you look after it, it will keep retain a good portion of its value.

    Cheers

  • That is true, and I was thinking about that the other day, someone else gets the gun and starts shooting it. I got a colt king cobra in bright stainless at the gun show this weekend it is beautiful and I will be shooting that one for sure. Thanks and have a good day....

  • I agree. I'm not a "mint" kind of guy. If I ever buy a gun (hopefully the Diamondback) I'm not going to just look at it. I buy things in order to use them.

  • Nice video my friend, and a beautiful revolver as well.

Here's a good way to tell if it's been fired (other than the factory firing). Take a look at the front of the cylinder. You'll see a "ring" around the one chamber that was fired at the factory. No matter how hard one tries, you cannot get ALL of the residue off the chamber faces. I suppose it's possible, but unlikely. Also, the back of the gun behind the cylinder will show wear from cartridges being fired.

    Hope that helps a little.

  • I wish colt would remake the Python again. Do you think it is better than the S&W 686?

  • Wow that is a hard question.. lol.. I will just leave it at it comes down to which gun you like the looks of better....

  • We all really appreciate what you're doing! You answer all of our comments and keep making great videos/reviews. Thanks again man.

  • Thank you very much, if there is any thing I can help with I will.

  • very nice man i probably wouldn't shoot it either since it's in such good condition. I was born in 74.

  • You got a new ankle gun I see. Dude, how many ankle guns do you need. :)

  • Yeah man, my .500 mag is my back up gun....

  • congrats on another fine purchase.

  • Thanks tommygunz

  • Thanks for sharing, good to see another great video.

  • Absolutely beautiful weapon. The bluing seems to have gloss that is not seen on many modern revolvers. Its good to watch someone who is passionate about guns.

  • Yes sir, that is Colt's royal blue finish.

  • Realy nice gun.

  • I'M SO PROUD! that's a good one.
