dude using electrical tape and pleating with drops make a waaay better bullwhip, plus if it tears it can easily be repaired. I suggest also making a fall because the TIP of the whip takes most of the beating, NOT the cracker itself. another good point about using electrical tape is it costs less than 2 us dollars for an entire 6 feet of whip.

Made one by finding all the materials in an alley: a few feet of electric cord (the one where 2 thin cords are stuck together side by side is best), a 1.5 to 2 ft. dowel rod, a thick piece of flexible rubber that I think was from a car, and a mid sized piece of string-like plastic. ummm... I made a bullwhip out of vinyl, and it works much better than this one did O.o (and cost a tonne less). Also, vinyl is thin so it plaits very evenly and looks just like a real bullwhip when it is done (and if it breaks you don't spend a tonne replacing it). Oh, and it does not take years to become a master... I can do most tricks shown on the internet and I have been playing with a whip for maybe two months...

Never seen so badly made whip. I doubt it's cracking, the crack sound seems to be added afterwards. Very awful way to make a whip, it should have several layers not just one. If you just but a string and then rap a leather on it, whip would be better.

And also very bad cracking. You can do it better after 15 minutes of practicing on some video by Adam Winrich or anybody who expleins how to crack a whip.

he was useing the cattlemans crack when he cracked his whip but he made a huge mistake he didnt fully extend his arm when he was bringing it up and that could have gotten himself whiped. make sure when you do this to straiten your arm when the whip is being swang in the air then when the tip of the whip is about ground level behind you bring it back with your shoulder bent. as it is going foward straiten your arm so the whip will crack.

This tutorial is fine for a very basic introduction to whipmaking, but there are several others which will guide the novice into creating much more finely crafted pieces.

Google the names Tony Layzell, Bernie Wojcicki, David Morgan, or Ron Edwards to learn more.

While you're at it, pick up (at the very least) How To Make Whips, by Ron Edwards. In combination with the aforementioned, it becomes possible to create some very beautiful, and functional whips.

there is nothing supposed about it. the elasticity of the leather is whats responsible for allowing the tip of the whip to travel so fast from a simple arm swing. If you've taken aerodynamics at all you've studied sonic booms. This is a big topic.

It does break sound barrier, as it was proved some 100 years ago, even if there were no means of travelling at that speed.

The crack actually does not come from the tip, but from wavy pattern on the whip that moves towards the tip at the speed of sound. The tip itself is at Mach 2 at some moments.

for better results, taper everything, the plaited strands just make REALLY long traingles it is the most important charactersitic of thew whip. The gradual lessening of mass is what increases the speed of the end of the whip past the sound barrier. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed. If the Kinetic Energy at the start of the system is the same at the end of the system and speed has to increase, then mass has to decrease. KE=1/2VM^2. mass and velocity are inversely related
