Actually its more like six years. They started working on it in 2003. And yeah, I agree 2011 is a more likely date. And its not going to be cheap. Apple will have a lot of R&D costs to recover to recover on that tablet.

intel is too fast, it will be years before programmers start utilizing 8 or 12 or even 6 cores. many programs dont even have quad core support.

I dont like the tablet, especially if its running something like iphone OS, i guess that varies from person to person though... and cheap for apple = $500 entry level with data plan

@Henppa7 Mac mini's are perfect examples: people say that they are more expensive, but cheaper PC's are poorly built, make more noise and don't offer wifi and or as many ports. Once you add the parts that a mac mini has, it usually narrows the gap. Some people just want the cheapest thing they can get and in that case, apple isn't for them.

Are you really saying this right now? Because, if you are, you are truly misinformed. Completely hardware-wise, a PC at the same specs. as a Mac will cost you hundreds less custom-built. Also, there is no point in getting Ultimate for the few petty features that nobody will use. Most users will use Home Premium which costs a mere $105 and $30 to students to your supposed $300. Also, what does Snow Leopard have on it that makes it so great? Rhetorical question by the way - nothing.
