  • Love the Gretsch.

  • this is a beautiful more relaxed...what i would call the sat on your sofa version.....love it of course......

  • must be good to play like him... love u my guitar master

  • this guitar fucking sucks in comparison to his strat solos....terrible.

  • I love Gilmore and Pink Floyd in general. But in this video I like the cellist at 0:51 through 1:06. First off, super cute. Second off, to my layman eyes looks like skillful playing. Third off, just look at her having a good time and enjoying the hell out of the concert.

  • this is true, the strat is gilmour's most harmonic , but something about that grestch just grabs you, gives the solo a sharper edge, as apposed to the softness of the strat

  • 00:56 why there´s no sound from that girl?

  • i like the fender sound much better. But David is fantastic with any guitar.

  • @chichipotle ...hey, i been playing 44 years now....the beatles kinda worked some stuff out with a gretch that was "catchy"......now to my 2nd favorite band....floyd,,,,,for me, he needs his strat back

  • oh ya turn it UP LOUD lol

  • copy an paste this title into search

"Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Pulse 1994 (Live) "

    you'll be AMAZED..

  • Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Pulse 1994 (Live)

  • if you watch the Comfortably Numb video from the the Pulse concert .. Dave plays the solo like it's just,,, UNBELIEVABLE, i cant expalin it.. it's the best solo ever played,,, you have to see and listen to it..

  • I have the same guitar as you xD

  • The best.

  • fuck buckethead.

  • * * * * *

    AWESOME

  • Great !

  • never knew you can make a duo jet sound that beautiful <3<3

  • dear buckethead , jackson was a jerk , you never needed him , I like you as you are.

  • I wouldn't be talkin this kind of stuff about gilmore if I didn't know in the back of my mind that I did hail this solo as the best for a very long time , would try to play it alot.

it does have appeal , but doesn't get me where I really want to be.

which is in buckethead land huggin him over what jackson pulled on him.

  • I'm trying to give it to you gently like a spooky film where the possessed are asked who's the best guitarist and they answer back with the word buckethead.

if buckethead is not the king , you will be left suffering with shawn lane feeling very mexican lol

  • Strat my ass , just give me a jackson or an ibanez and I'll rip the roof off any arena.

  • Gilmore is built like my grand father , it's like watching what it would be like if my grand father had been more of a musician , ( step grand father )

my real grand father is likely hack allard of the texas playboys since my grand mother and he were together.

but I'm an evans technicaly , we're all musicians from manchester.

  • I do not feel gilmore would condem me for saying he's not the greatest guitarist who ever lived , I bet he would agree.

to be the greatest guitarist who ever lived , you will most deffinately need to kiss gilmore a few times but ultimately you will need to move forward from there at some point.

Kiss gilmore plenty , tell him you love him , but remember you will need to move forward from there.

  • I'm certan will accues me of blasphemy for saying gilmore is not the greatest guitarist ever.

but that comes with years of study on pink floyed and being born in 1970

If you were born from 1970 to 1975 , you have the right to say gilmore is a musical father , but not the king himself.

  • NOT the best rock solo in history , but deffinately in the top 50

David gilmore is responsible for my pentatonic arpeggiation skills , that is all.

That's really all I can get from gilmore , for anything else I have to step outside the gilmore house.

I hail buckehtead as the absolute master of guitar , gilmore deffinately the master on pentatonic arpeggiation. mostly A minor pentatonic here in this track.

  • Great stuff. Does sound a bit different with the Gretsch Filtertrons ... instead of the Strat pickups but hey, Gilmour knows best!

  • awesome

  • Gilmour got his first strat (white) as a gift from the band

before that he played a white tele as well he got from his parents for his 21st birthday

wow i wish my parents bought me my first guitar or anything at 21..lol

  • yeah old ladd, a couple of smooth melody lines does it always better than scale wanking of the greenhorns!

  • hard to think about one person named Gilmour without one guitar named The Black Fender Stratocaster

  • @ale9164 you gotta remember he didnt play that guitar for years dude. In fact it was left in the Hard Rock Cafe and came back to Phil Taylor in a rough enough state with knobs missing and parts taken off. He played most of the 80's with a red strat loaded with EMG pickups and only really re-started playing the black one just before the Live 8 show.

  • @derekswan144

Thank you for giving me this information.. I just bought an old Strat, that's really “rusty". I think the previous owners removed the lacquering an the body and now is living wood with no serials because they modified it.

But I love it's warm strat sound. So it is great if someone like you could update some knowledges about this pride of american history. Gilmour is “tipical” with the black one actually, for sure.. but it's not to be excluded he played other guitars in the past.

  • Nice guitar but it sure can't replace the Strat for that signature sound of his.

  • That's the one Gilmour sings with Geldof .

  • Nice guitarsound of though. Change is welcome!

  • this solo = goosebumps machine

  • Muito Obrigada pelo carinho..essa música me faz levitar!! Bj Adri:)

  • Love how excited that pretty cellist is when David ditches the acoustic and grabs the Grestch!

  • The master of the string bend!

  • that was awwome could have used a bit more overdrive /gain on his solo but it was a nice refreshing trip on the duo jet

  • woah those humbuckers are crazy looking i wounder what they are?

  • @Guitarstring187 They are High Sensitive Filtertron pickups

  • As much as like Gilmour, his strat will always sound better than any guitar he uses. That song was made to play on a strat and anyone whos knows this song........ well, knows it belongs on a Strat.

  • notice the long soaring sustain on the Gretsch.... oh wait, there isn't any.

  • where's the black strat?!

  • the best guitarist of all time.....

  • @vaggostheguitarist best is, of course, relative. mr. gilmour is certainly the most tasteful...

  • seeing David without a Fender it's kinda strange....mind blowing tho...

  • what's wrong with 8 of you?

  • Лучшее Соло ХХ века по версии ВВС радио. The Best Solo XX century BBC radio version.

  • He should have used another guitar, but that's just my personal opinion, this guitar has a really crappy sustain.

  • the best.

  • Reminds me of something Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains said. Equipment counts for about 25%. At the end of the day its my fingers, my flesh on the wood. That hold true here. Even without his Strat and Hiwatt amps, it still sounds exactly like him.

  • wow is this the actuall Mr. Gilmour youtube page. As in are you the one replying back!? My question is how come you are not playing you Fender on this song?

  • @Ibik Strictly a fan site.

  • @GilmourTrueHD im not 100% sure but maybe because this one sounds better with a more acoustic line up ?? im not to sure but could be why :)

  • @Ibik If David Gilmour has a YouTube Page then....

  • tank you gilmuor ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • hands down one of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded.

  • Looks easy doesnt it! But NOOOOoooo....

  • my dad sort of has the same guitar buts he has the country classic version very simular to that Grestch

  • Amazing! What kind of Grestch is that?

  • @mattguitar10 I believe it is a Duo Jet. Not sure of the year, think it's a 57-58.

  • @GilmourTrueHD I picked up on this thread I assume you are talking about the black guitar David is playing its a Lewis and was custom built for him It was used on some of DSOTM.

  • @davesweet63 Nope its a Grestch Duo Jet. The Lewis is a 24 fret with no pick guard. David got the Lewis in 1970.

  • Its a Gretsch Duo jet.....I have the same one

  • A black guitar, a little delay, a little bit of compression, an high gain little amp, 2 magical hands and et voilà: the best solo in the rock history!

  • the amp is not high gain...it's a tweed fender!

  • @MaseratiGT100 Stairway To Heaven solo my friend.

  • @gottenks3 Everyone has their opinions :)

  • @gottenks3 So overrated

  • love Gilmour's sound...

  • great ;-)

  • precious piece of work

  • I was hoping you would post some of the extras.

    Good one.

  • best rock solo ever composed

    faved
