Barcelona play a high line and pressure so they can keep the ball longer this let's them down though because their whole defence I think is a little suspect. He also has amazing ball control, balance and agility, due to his size. So messi uses his agility more to beat defenders combined with lethal short bursts of acceleration and ball control.
