You'd think the ref would have known better than to think Kerry Von Erich's head didn't just get "busted wide open" by chance,wouldn't you?Not only that,but Lawler was being sneaky about putiing that foreign object back in his tights.

Von Erich f'd up his own arm backstage during one of his drug fueled hazes and Lawler had to "bust it open" during the first few seconds of the match to cover for it.

@SuperTerry222 Dude that's not true someone stabbed him on his way to the ring ! they didn't show it on this video but if you watch the ring entrances you will see some one jabs a knife into Von Erich arm !

@Reborn8303: Von Erich wasn't stabbed by anybody but himself. Apparently, he had a blade taped to his finger because he wanted to juice during the match, and sort of 'forgot' about it as he scratched at an itch whilst still backstage. Lawler immedaitely worked on the arm to make the injury look legit.

I was at this show...in an arena that holds about 10,000 people when full, only 1,200 people went to this inter-promotional show. This was the 2nd to last match of the night...the Rock 'n Roll Express fought some forgettable tag team after this match.

To this day, I STILL feel Von Erich was robbed of the match. He had his "Iron Claw" on Lawler for a long time, and the ref stops the match because Von Erich's head was bleeding profusely. Lawler hit him with a foreign object to bust him open.

SuperClash III. It was a novel idea to think a group of promoters with BIG egos were going to somehow get along to the point where they could be on an unified front to beat WWF. In 88 plans were set in motion for a merger between AWA and CWA to try and counter the booming WWF. Then WCCW got in on this short lived merge and the match was set for the card. Jerry Lawler vs. Kerry Von Erich for a unified title. Jerry won but didn't get paid and wouldn't defend the belt. King still has the belt.

@Powerdrift5 I remember that. Jerry kept the belt in hopes of getting paid by Verne Gagne but never did. WCCW, CWA, aand AWA were in the midst of becoming a wasteland of wrestling.
