he isn't supposed to look like William of Orange, because he probably isn't He looks a lot more like his grandson William II. none of them ever was a king, since the Netherlands weren't a kingdom in those days, but a Republic. They were the so called stadhouders - but over the years king and stadhouder became a bit the same.
And isn't it George II? Looks a lot more like George II
@failfan1 Yeah, it was the fashion, and before you laugh, consider how people hundreds of years on will find it bizarre that we found wearing our trousers below our backsides was hip or how covering yourself with fake jewellery and shit was how successful artists at the time were expected to dress.
Over time as your colonys get bigger and bigger the king will ask for some money and they will show you there ring and you can kiss it which gives them the money or you can say no which makes them angry.
@GrappendeGrapjas Weell...Actualy Willian of Orange was a king. He ascended the throne of Englang, with Mary of the Stuarts I think after her father fled into France abandoning the throne ( Bloodless Revolution).English may it be, it is a reign nonetheless. Although I do question him being the King of Holland.
Oh, and I'll add that's just another ridiculous (American) interpretation of George III, a King who was by no means a dandy or snob. King George III was actually known as "farmer George" because of his liking of a simple and down to earth style. He was a modest and pleasant man, but went insane in his later years. He had nothing to do with the American Revolution other than being King at the time it occurred. It was parliaments fault, not the King.
In fact...George III may have suffered from dementia together with a disease that was possibly porphyria. (later is life).
And yes, contrary to American portrayal, by the time of the Revolution the King was pretty much a figurehead. Besides, George III could barely speak English (he was German)
Interesting movie "Passion of the Christ"...considering it has already been proven without a doubt that Herod the Great was already dead and buried a full 10 years before Jesus was supposedly born. (so he could NOT have slaughtered all those little boys)
It's disappointing they decided to redo Orange's portrait, but left Louis and the reused Native American leaders (Montezuma, Huyana Capac & Sitting Bull) the same.
And man, Sid Meier must really not like George III (then again, who does?), because they really went overboard with his character :D
Well maybe Russia could not work the game ends in the late eighteenth century. and Russia did not get to Alaska in till about right after. but still would have made a good Addison.
Yes, they should have. However, it's a remake from Sid Meier's Colonization, which had only these four civs because in 1994, more could not be supported.
They portraited King George as a real prick (which he probably it) in Colonization. Also Carlos V has the same opening stance as King Peter , Louis XVI still has his same protrait, and Wilhelm looks maringally different from his Beyond the Sword appearance, which is acceptable, because he looks even more of a Dutch badass.
Dutch king, best king

Why couldn't they have included the same "civs" as the ones in Freecol (made before CivCol, not before Col)?

I feel like Charles V music is the Spanish Ballroom music from Pirates, just remixed.

Is Carlos V Charles the V of Spain? From what I heard that guy was a bit of a douche.

That music,THAT MUSIC.
As unpatriotic as this is,was it really that fair to potray George III as the most evil man in history?
Anony1200 2 years ago
@Anony1200 No, he was actually quite a successful monarch when he wasn't suffering bouts of insanity.

The Dutch didn't even have a king. They were a republic with stadtholders. The stadtholder family became (Oranje-Nassau) became a Royalhouse in 1815.

is it me or Carlos V looks just like peter (of civilization 4) with different clothing?

You're right, they definitely recycled some of the character's artwork there.

Well, George III was the first of the Kings of his family to speak English fluently, so that much is true even if he still wasn't foppish.
PurePerfection 2 years ago
I think they had it confused with George IV, who WAS a dandy. I can imagine how the artists would have portrayed poor Queen Charlotte...

George III reminds me of King Herod's portrayal in 'The Passion of the Christ'

I like that Louis's melody has elements of rule britannia in it (or is it just my imagination?).

It sounds like a retake on a French monarchist song (and the royal anthem of Henri IV, Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI), Vive Henri IV.
