@somercet1 Clancy Brown is also a graduate of the St. Albans School in Washington, DC as is Jeffrey Wright (Basquiat, Casino Royale) and Robert Wisdom who played "Bunny" on "The Wire."
I think one of the funniest scenes is when Jon Lithgow is telling everyone to extinquish all smoking material, fasten you seatbelts.......as they travel into the 8th dimension
I wonder if the character of Buckaroo inspired Weller to go back to school in any way? Now he has an MA and almost a PhD in Renaissance art and does docos for the history channel. I think that's cool. I like the idea of Buckaroo being an inspiration. Have no idea if its true, but I'd like to think so.
@boyakasha777 I agree with you. Perhaps the film had a great impact on him. Not only does he have a PhD in Renaissance Art and a MA in Roman Art (and working on his Master's), but he's also fluent in French and teaches a literature and fine arts class at Syracuse University.
Lewis Smith (perfect Tommy) with an open jacket...yesyesyesyesyes. I loved this movie, hokay and hilarious, and this music for the credits is amazing! :D I LIKE! *thumbs up*

fucking retarded, one of the worst filmed, written, acted and produced pieces of shit passing itself off as a movie the world has ever known. incoherent cow flop the whole thing.
@Madiigo Actually if you read interviews with the director (totaly crackpot) and get forced to watch the special features on the DVD (as I was at a bachelor party) you will see that in fact this was NOT supposed to be a parody, or a joke or anything of the kind, but that the film makers thought, and still do think, that this shit pile was designed to be a true science fiction juggernaut. And that if they had money, it would have been. To this day they are trying to sell the sequel.
@orchote then why did you even come here to watch the credits? If you didn't like it that much, why couldn't you have just stayed away from this part of youtube?
When I see these credits it's like a look into an alternate reality - where there's a huge media empire of Buckaroo Banzai stuff, and every adventure of the Hong Kong Cavaliers that we devour (in the theater, on TV, on streaming media) ends with a credits scene like this, as the characters from that episode join Buckaroo and the Cavaliers in their victory march, as that unmistakable tune booms out.
The best sounding ending credits from any sci-film that I know!!!!!!!!! I always loved this movie. Regardless of what people say it was
"80's" enough for me. I wouldn't put in the same league as some of the movies someone below said. Rather I'd put it with My Science Project and The Wraith. B movies kick ass all the way 80's!!!!!
true , those are all great. i think you are right also that the editing wasn't as good as it could have been, and, having read the novel, there is alot that didn't make it into the film that would have made the story more comprehensible. too bad they never made the sequel explaining about about Buckaroo's arch enemy
@russcarljohnson No, no no. Buckaroo Banzai is better than all of those. It's like the Swiss Army knife of b-movies. You could watch it over and over and always find something new. Ghostbusters, overrated. Innerspace, a noble failure. Galaxy Quest, amusing enough, but not classic. I'll have to plead ignorance on What Planet- never saw it.
Even Buckaroo knows that bowties are cool!

I loved this movie. Saw it first run. But only now, years later, do I wonder, why is Buckaroo dressed like Peewee Herman?

Clancy Brown is also well educated; he had a scholarship to Northwestern U.

@orchote Who wouldn't? Whoever owns the rights to Xanadu never cashed in on that Gold Mine.
Jeff Goldblum alone could own it. It is a time and a place. Stop hatin' playa!

Peter Weller could almost pull off wearing a bow tie. Almost.

@robfergusonjr Listen- I think Weller is great, but the George Will/Tucker Carlson look is just not cool.

@robfergusonjr OK, I'll give you Weller and the bow tie, but Billy Vera MUST ditch that fucking beret.

one of the best sci-fi/comedies ever made! it's too bad the critics never got it
vincentpricesnephew 3 years ago
i wouldn't go as far as to say "one of the best". It was pretty poorly edited.
Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Innerspace, What Planet Are You From? and Spaceballs are all in a whole league above this movie.
It could have been great, i wanted it to be great, but it wasn't.
