Thanks Nancy Elizabeth and Philip Blair Staley, for having brought Staley to the world... don't think he would have thought the same way but still... thanks.
Alice in Chains has got to be one of the best bands of all time; I still can't get enough of them. Their music is so raw and powerful, and Staley's voice is ethereal. It's like raw emotion given spoken language. If there is indeed a god and a heaven, you can bet Layne Staley is in the house band.
I just can't see how you can even click on the dislike button. those 12 people must have been forced by the devil or somethin. If you wan't to dislike Layne, you can go to hell with him laughing up in heaven with god.
I can't believe some of the crap you people are talking about...LISTEN!!! We all know what Layne did to himself, and unfortunately we are all paying for it to this very day. We lost a very talented and great musician, one of the best of his time...PLAIN & SIMPLE!!
You know drugs or not, these musicians have more soul and emotion (be it negative) than anything on the radio today, I'm hardcore rock and I cant even stand to turn on the rock station in my town, it's lame ass pussy music with no heart. Isnt music supposed to invoke an emotion inside of you? That would make sense then people today have no emotions there fore their mindless drone rock is perfect for them. :p
@ep33bp Isnt music supposed to invoke an emotion inside of you? That would make sense then people today have no emotions there fore their mindless drone rock is perfect for them.
well thats cuz all the new artist are beening told what to play how to play and sound so label makes more money puting out stuff the unintelgent masses like
tomorrow is going to be awesome, i havent listened to alice in chains for a couple of years, and one of my friends had my mp3 player for a couple of days, i got it back today and it has loads of alice in chains on it. fuck yeah. i get to be outside, walking, listening to layne! im so happy.
No description available. No description necessary. Absolute Alternative Rock. May Layne sing forever. Who gives a fuck which ear his ear ring is in. He had without a doubt the best male voice of all time. Now talk about THAT.
@csmall1221 not everyone conforms to the ridiculous stereotypes the masses project onto people. wearing an earring doesn't define who or what you are. open your mind to something greater.
@mbecerrac92 Thank you, I was going to point this out. Yes he was missing teeth, which he had lost as a result of drug addiction. He still sings great, I was complimenting him. I think he's one of the greatest singers of all time. Though this was one of his last shows with the band.
As much of a fan as I am of Layne and the band, has anyone noticed how off on the harmony Layne is in the unplugged versions... he's totally fucked up on dope. RIP, he was an amazing vocalist.
It's so sad that music isn't like this at all these days. Its probably safe to say we will not be speaking or even have half the respect for todays artists like we do with bands like Alice is Chains.
not sure what it is, but these guys just capture doom and gloom better than any band I've ever heard. One word............pain. The best music comes from truth. It just shows in Alice in Chains' music.
truly a great song loved listening to Mtv unplugged knew we were in trouble when headbangers ball sat at 11 was gone and they started saying Yo Mtv raps what a waste

@slash hudson We lost a talented song writer in Layne, he wrote straight from the heart. Such a tragic story dude, with the substance abuse problems that he struggled with. Its always been that way though. Drugs are a real problem in the Rock n Roll business or the entertainment business in general. Alice Cooper said. "When your a Rock Star, and you manage to live through the excesses of the lifestyle and get clean, its an awesome thing, but so many legendary ones didn't make it"..
@Metalmanmania357 in my opinion Layne Staley is the best vocalist of all time. but hey, thats just my opinion and it means nothing because everyone has one. btw i love your words and couldnt agree more with you!!
Heartbreaking!! can clearly see he is struggling, but yet puts in one of the best perfomances of his life. Not a die hard fan of Alice in Chains but this song/performance will go down in history as one of the best. Damn I wish I could sing like Layne R.I.P.

I try to respect everyone's opinions, but some of them sadden me a little:
How can you watch such profound and timeless performance and think that it's not good, or it's lacking something?
I understand that you're used to the more "metal" version of rooster, but I can assure you that, while that is indeed an awesome song, this version does NOT miss any of the points the song tries to transmit.
I truly believe this performance has an unique profoundness that can only be heard in very few songs.
@KATXUMPAY I am a born Seattlite and I agree with you com[letely. Layne is obviously strung out, I have been there but he and the rest of the band sounds amazing. Maybe it's because Jar Of Flies is my favorite album, I like the acoustic. To the haters, whatever, they will be out there...
