  • Thank you for including Eon Blue Apocalypse! :D

  • Y is tool so amazing?

  • when people say this world is hell and everything sucks:/ I say a part of this song A groan of tedium escapes me,

    Startling the fearful.

Is this a test? It has to be,

    Otherwise I can't go on.

    Draining patience, drain vitality.

This paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old

  • That harmonization of the guitar around 6:50 is fucking beautiful.

  • what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck?? i have been a tool fan for so long now, and my brother has owned a copy of lateralus for YEARS! how have i never heard the first minute of this song until now?

i guess most ripped versions dont bother leaving the intro in. what a mindfuck that part was..

  • @ro1zposie1 the first minute of this video is called Eon Blue Apocalypse on the record, it's the track before The Patient..

  • Best band ever period..

  • I really believe there is some secret method to creating their music that allows the listener to reach a spiritual state only by listening. I've had this experience several times with different Tool songs - I become engulfed by a spiritual energy and I can feel it move all around me when the songs reach their highest point (crescendo?). Tool IS a tool for heightened levels of awareness.

  • @tigerlily8866 it's called Satan bro.

  • @tigerlily8866 Yeah it's called DMT. Not only that but they're part of the sacred mirrors cult which is organized by Alex Grey who happens to be a free mason. Alex Grey mind you started his career dissecting people so he could accurately illustrate the greys anatomy book but honestly I think it was just a good excuse to perform rituals with corpses. Look at some of his early art, alot of it was performance ritualistic like pieces. Yeah they're part of powerful cult for sure.

  • @parsleysprigs please explain more?

  • @tigerlily8866 Dmt is the most powerful psychedelic one of my friends reported seeing geometrical patterns like the one's in Alex Greys art. Not only that look up Alex Greys gaia painting, it has bush and the twin towers in the backround. If you didn't know he's the one who does the paintings for tool and they're all in the sacred mirrors cult.

  • @parsleysprigs Yeah, I knew he did the artwork for the band. Very interesting about the Gaia painting - I see the towers and planes but where is Bush? Can you tell me more about this cult? (feel free to PM)

  • @tigerlily8866 Bush is shaking hands with fidel castro on the right side in front of the tree next to a cockroach. I don't know much about the cult but if you read his book sacred mirrors it tells a little bit about the rituals. My friend was given a pendant for giving one of them a good hook up. It was like a huge coin with the triangle eye that you see in much of his work. Not sure if it's connected to the all seeing eye but here's the link to they're site. CoSM(dot)org/

  • @tigerlily8866 there is no secret method, other than time. if you notice, it takes a few years for one of their albums to be. in essence, tool's music is a result of highly respectable innovation and time.

  • Wow...

This song is just beautiful and perfectly expresses my melancholy.

  • When I first heard this song I was blown away. This song helped me to realize that I am not the only one who thinks these depressing thoughts at times.I kept a lot bottled up inside because I did not want to be the catalyst of setting off someone else in a downward spiral like mine. I find it more and more comforting to know that I am not alone with these sort of thoughts. On a lighter note, Tool is amazing in concert. I was fortunate enough to see them in Hawaii. P.S. Alex Grey is a genius!

  • @Sinatra52 p.s: Tool and Alex Grey are not geniuses...they are ENLIGHTENED!;)

  • I. MUST. KEEP. RE. MIND. ING. MY. SELF. OF. THIS.

  • FUCKING EPIC!

  • JUST FUCKING LOVE IT!!!! Maynard's voice and melody gives me the chills. I hope they make at least two more albums before they call it quits!!

  • Veni.

  • this song give me goose bumps

  • I am glad I bought the whole album of Lateralus. I only wanted it for schism and parabola (Guitar Hero Fan) and I am so glad I have all the songs because they are all my favorite. (Except for Faiip De Oaid)

  • @HeetWav13 its the beggining of a great story ;)

  • @Dude...

Faaip de Oiad's the shit. :D

  • the inro reminds me of red dead redemption

  • is this, like the coolest song in existence? i literally feel like a maniac when i hear the whole thing, damnit.

  • i must keep reminding myself of this! love this part and the lead guitar after this ; )

  • Lateralus is, for my money, the greatest rock album of all time. It is the culmination of everything guitar, drums, bass and voice can achieve, Peerless,

  • @Zeloim23 agreed over the years it not only is starting to prove timeless but proving to peers that they need to learn from tool

  • @Zeloim23 Aenema was far better, it had way more dynamic changes.

  • 6:50 Is amazing, i literally think my mind exploded when i heard it for the first time. Its been on repeat ever since.

  • @Srslysrsbsnss Yes! Every single time, gives me shivers.

  • reading about how Tool changes other people's lives inspires & penetrates deep within me even more than it already has... it's like I'm being reborn each time I listen to Tool... it is a source of healing energy...

  • @opening2heal You are so right on with that statement. It IS a healing energy.

  • Haven't heard this song in years...Never really know what the hell is going through Maynard's skull. I just know this song allows listeners the freedom to assign a number of different meanings to the lyrics. Brilliant....Still right here, giving blood, keeping the faith...and I'm still right here.

  • this song is one of the tracks of my current life's soundtrack

  • This is one track of my current life's soundtrack

  • happy song

  • This song changed my life

  • 5:48 on is heavy as hell

  • Anyone ever want to get Youtube music onto your computer? Use Zamzar, I use it all the time, good quality and it's free. If something happens to your computer then that's either cause of the video or because your firewall sucks(or you don't have one).

  • @stuntmcnuggt that doesnt sound very secure to me

  • @Vihara2 If you don't want to use it that's okay, I'm just saying it's a pretty good and easy way to get some quick and free music.

  • cxxxxxxxxxl===============>

    sword

  • This song and "Right in Two" are probably the best songs to listen to while playing left for dead.

  • @stuntmcnuggt yep

  • eon blue apocalypse :DDDD

    then the patient ! :D

  • the best part begins at 6:19 until the end!!! absolutely gorgeous!!! one of the best bands of all times, no doub`t about it! greetings.. sincerely,i think one thing: tool in some musics reminds me of the pink floyd, at least in the structure of music, the psychedelic sound that they have and the songs are too long(too much minutes)... tool are the pink floyd of today, but, the songs are more heavy of course.. the years pass and the music becames more heavy, that`s normal..

  • try listening to it fucked up...the beginning is perfect. perhaps the best part. Im a still right here giving blood keepin faith. I am stil right heeeere

  • try listening to it fucked up...the beginning is perfect. perhaps the best part. Im a still right here giving blood keepin faith

    VOTE RIGHT NOW!

  • 5 people have no loving embrace to see them through

  • first time i've ever heard this intro.. me likey

  • @TheJtd123 The intro is titled Eon Blue Apocalypse- it's the second track on the album, one of several instrumental tracks. It's a part of The Patient in the same way that Mantra is used as an intro to Schism, and the way Parabol and Parabola are really two parts of the same song, despite being two different tracks. The entire album speaks of a similar cohesiveness. It's all really one singular event, so the only way it makes it to free radio is under an editor's knife... >:[

  • @thefaneofpwn also, dont forget the two parts of wings for marie. Well, then again they may have been split because its a 17 or so minute song.

  • "Ho ho ho! Merry Xmas! Vote for the best of TOOL.

  • Gives me the chills everytime. I love Maynard.

  • its so unimaginable how people but dislikes on a song by Tool...to me,its like why even live if you haven't heard the music of a band like Tool...they are my favorite band.the music, not just the lyrics, but the music itself is deep in a way.its sad that not many people listen to music like this anymore...but there are still people that do,and may the music of Tool like forever in the souls of those that listen to them... ROCK ON TOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:00-0:58 Eon Blue Apocalypse......just sayin

  • fucking epic song

  • Must keep reminding myself of this...

I must keep reminding myself of this...

I must keep reminding myself of this...

I must keep reminding myself of this...

    \m/(>_<)\m/

  • It's my favorite part too man. If you are in a room where you are immersed with the sound full blast, it's like you slowly are reaching orgasm.

  • what's the timin' of this song? can't get it!!!

  • @matteonoli96 5/4

  • @matteonoli96 It's 5/4, buddy.

  • This song helped me grow out my hair...be patient.

  • @killeroforce my hair is finally down to my belly button, im a guy and now that ive finally reached my goal im sick of it and im getting it cut.

  • @cashmerestaten aw man, I like long hair, im a guy too. Mine used to by like nipple length, now I just keep it shoulder length just cause it was getting a little too long for me.

  • @killeroforce Believe it or not, it took me a few minutes to understand that lol, excellent song though.

  • Tool transports you to another dimension with their music... "We'll see you on the other side.". God, how i love this BAND! : D

  • It's not just the patient....

It has "Eon Blue Apocalypse" in the beginning.

Did no one else notice that?

  • @chrlee13579 Yeah, they paired up quite a few songs like this on Lateralus.

Mantra-Schism, this, one more I think.

  • @stoptakinallthenames i am a massive fan of tool, they are the most influential band in my life and one i listen to on a daily basis and i too am on par with your rational, tool as a band speak to me begging me to ask questions and keep an open mind and i don't feel ridiculed by them to become a non-believer.peace and respect to you and may tools works continue to astound us.

  • Tool is amazing, my friend got me hooked, feels good man

  • tool and rush are two of the best bands ever imo

  • Tool got me to find my faith in God

  • @VeniVediVeci00 Well than you are just another ignorant sheep! to quote maynard FUCK YOUR GOD!!!!!!!

  • @blackacidjesus I'm sorry but you are an idiot. I listen to tool and i believe in a god. I'm not really christian but i acknowledge a higher power beyond our comprehension

  • @stoptakinallthenames ''acknowledge a higher power beyond our comprehension'' What a great way to say you still believe in fairytales.

  • @reaverwes fairy tales would be bible stories. A belief in a higher power isn't entirely stupid, i'm either right or i'm wrong. I don't know about you but i'd rather not think of myself and my feelings and thoughts as chemical reactions and electrical impulses and i refuse to believe we, as humans, are a scientific anomaly that arbitrarily came into existence. Sorry for not being daft and close-minded such as yourself. Now let's get back to the music..

  • @stoptakinallthenames Just because it's socially acceptable doesn't mean it's not irrational and stupid. You can refuse to believe truth all you want, it wont change a goddamn thing.

  • @reaverwes You don't get it you dim-witted fuck, i'm not a bible-preaching Christian, i have my own personal beliefs that you can't tell me are right or wrong, i dont spread my beliefs on other people, so dont go around saying what you think is true when no one knows the truth you fucking moron. I was just taking up for the other guy, you can believe what you want and still listen to this band, you dont have to be an atheist asshat, such as yourself, to admire this song

  • @stoptakinallthenames I don't know the truth, but I know what's NOT true. And if all your arguments are insults, then your ideologies must not be very truthful.

  • @reaverwes You dont know what's not true. We have ideas but we won't know until we're dead. And the insults came when ignorant tool fans decide you can only be an atheist or else you're a fool. I don't care what science proves or disproves, in terms of scientific knowledge, we're probably still in our infancy as a civilization and i don't think you or me are in any place to say who is right or not. If everyone had a mutual respect for each other's beliefs, this world would be a lot less shitty

  • @VeniVediVeci00 Ignore the fools who have never experienced the spiritual realms... I am sure most of the members of tool agree on the fact that there is a God. Once you experience Kunadlini i don't think there is any doubt in that...

  • @metalhead654 I experienced one of those last night and It seriously felt like I was dead and something shocked me back to life. I also saw this blinding light before coming to.

  • This song got me through cancer..

  • This song keeps me alive...

  • 5 people were too busy looking up pictures of Justin Bieber's vagina to click 'like'.

  • I must keep reminding myself of this

  • Tool are REAL artists, nothing to say about it. With their own unique style are one of the most creative and genial rock bands actually. Their song are full of a special atmosphere, and so this song, one of my favourites. I fucking love the final part from 6:50. Simply great. Simply unique. Thumbs up for Tool. Thumbs up for rock \m/

  • lyrically, this is my favorite tool song.to me,tool is the type of band you listen to alone by yourself privately.i listen to them when dealing with and trying to gather my thoughts.the vibe and lyrics help me through things.

  • @bayerhead Same here, I believe the term is "Mantra." Interestingly enough that is another song on the album.

  • i just wrote the perfect words to describe this song but youtube wont allow enough space to write 8 sentences!!! argggh

  • Eon Blue Apocalypse was written for Adam's great dane who died named Eon. hence "Eon"

  • i want maynard to sit on my face.

  • ...love

  • This song has saved me from road rage many ,many times during traffic jams.

    Thank you Tool.

  • lol i was about to say this isnt the pateint, i guess its the song before it too

  • Anyone know of a youtube artist who makes bass lines that sound similar to tool music? All of this artists music is origional, but sounds like and was perhaps inspired by tool. I found his videos once and really liked them, but i forgot to favotire them! I am looking for those videos again. Does anyone know what i am talking about?

  • so many people on here so dont get what tools about do they. only good band...are they fuck .....dont just listen to metal listen to all types of music this way you get the different feelings in all aspects of music.

  • tool actually has alot of shit/meaningless songs but the songs like lateralus, aenima, sober, stinkfist and lots more that actually shove the message deep into your mind with such force that its hurting your forehead, pure art...

  • Tools my fav , beacause of lyrics, riffs, voice, well..all. i also listen to Kyuss , qotsa and metallica, cheers.

  • Why is it that every time I come to watch a Tool music video the comments fall into 1 of 2 generic categories:

    1) "TOOL IS THE BEST F@#%ING BAND IN EXISTANCE, ALL OTHERS SUCK"

    2) Pseudo Philosophers trying to unravel some mystery of the band

Now I like Tool, but I believe many of the fans are counter productive to the bands intentions. If they support opening your mind, why is it that many people shut out all other music? Tool is not the only good band in existance

  • @Basssurge i hear where u are coming from but they are addictive, i suppose its like the drug addict, they sit on the sofa and get high but they think that they are living life and every 1 else is not, when really they are not living life they are doing the opposite, the guy living life and gaining the life experience is the guy jumping out of aeroplanes and travelling about, going to the shops and eating out, staying in with a dvd, u get me?

  • I'm sorry that I even have to respond to such a comment but come on dude.... They are serving the elite insofar as everyone else is -- by proxy alone. There's nothing about tool that would suggest a hidden agenda other than their collective hope that people will eventually wake up to their inner spiritual consciousness. If anything that's the only thing I can see that tool shares with an occultic elite. A knowledge of the inner strength latent in mankind which the elite wish to suppress....

  • Love that comment "ALIENDNA14". That is the best way one could put it. Hope people listen to it!

  • does anyone know if tool are apart of the illuminati because look at the album cover they look like pyramids with an eye on top and inside the pyramid shape. they are also against christianity just like the illuminati.

  • @stereoscopicify. Hard to say, I would guess no. If they are against Christianity I would assume you mean Christendom...those who claim to be Christians but are in fact hypocrites and aren't even close to the title of Christians. They are easy to spot, look at their conduct and teachings. A lot of Tool material is misinterpreted though. Only way to know is to ask the actual artists.

  • sorry i should'nt of said appart of (i was really high) but they must have some sort of agreement with the elite. don't get me wrong tool are the best band in human history but they must they must be srving some sort of purpose to elite. from what i have seen they have been censoring all art for decades.

mind you i believe this is what lays ahead of us

    watch?v=1AH5UjVm8Ds

plus danny is a massive crowley fan. who worked for MI5 and wrote music for led zep and the beatles.

  • @stereoscopicify They are oppose to all organized religion. They also have a cross like figure in their band emblem above...does that make them Christian? lol

  • These lyrics are all sorts of fucked up, its met along, not man along....

  • Together,

APC and Tool make a perfect circle of music. ;D

    Tool and APC forever!

  • did he put Eon Blue Apocalypse in there as well at the beginning?

  • whatever music speaks to you the most is what you should listen to.... in my case Tool does but in others, you just never know

  • I'd go insane if the only thing I listened to was Tool. Life's about trying new and different experiences, not limiting yourself to the same 5 albums.

But I pretty much hate Dir En Grey. I don't think I've ever heard a single J rock song I liked. I can't think of any, at least. To my secret shame, I kind of like the pop stuff a little though. Well, I guess it's not much of a secret.

  • how do you know whats life about?

  • its easy to know what life is about considering we live it every day.

  • no one knows what life is about.mankind was never ment to know.

  • how can you listen to any other band when Tool is the greatest fuckin band ever. does that happen to anyone? i only listen to Tool (mostly and a little porcupine tree at times)

  • Easily, by having variety. Tool is amazing, but that is stupid to limit yourself to only one kind of music.

The Mars Volta, Dir en grey, A perfect Circle. More good bands, some heavier than others but they are all really good bands. ((To me.)) But still, you can't listen to just one band all the time, it makes it bland and destroys the music. I don't care how big of a fan you are, you can't just listen to one band 24/7. ((You name two, it's still bland xD))

  • but do you see that Tool is so unique and if you really like it its hard to find another band thats like it is where im getting at. now dont get me wrong there are many other good progressive bands that i listen to but Tool is good in every mood you are in. when i feel like listening to heavy music Tool offers that, soothing, Tool offers that too. but yeah there are many other good bands too, im just saying

  • No, I understood what you were saying. It was just a real simplistic thing you said. But like I said that they were amazing, I may not have specifically stated that they were unique, but it is implied. I tend to listen to music that is unique. I really haven't found any bands similar to what I listed or what I listen to. No matter what people say is the same to them, there is just no duplicating them. I honestly think that Dir en grey is the most varied in their music though.

  • They have death metal sounds, as well as in their early music where they were pop-rock. They also provide everything in between. They have thrash-ish, punk-ish, metalcore, soft core, sing songs. And their lyrics, they are the most unique thing about them, other than their sound. XD The singer writes some interesting things. :D

  • @ricoben3 Not to be rude, but these guys were around before metalcore and softcore had a place in music. it still doesnt in my opinion. but to each his own, This is the only band that i can't just place in a genre. they seriously deserve more credit then to be diseceted into trash genres. imo

  • @Crakamatt tool is just music, they have there own significant sound and it's totally original and yet nobody has dared to copy that sound.there really is no band out there that sounds close to tool.maybe vocally earshot but not musically.why label something that continues to evolve and be limitless.people who make sub geres just want to create a trend.tool is the opposite of that.i totally agree with you

  • @Smackenzieth i hear what ur saying i did the same thing with iron maiden, then nirvana, then sonic youth, then tool, then the jesus lizard, then to grandaddy, then to deftones but now i listen to them all plus more and i feel great!!

  • @Smackenzieth TOOL is still the most listened to band on my ipod, i hardly listen to any other music, unless i've got metal on the brain.

  • @MacMan282

well Tool is metal thats why its so addicting.not only does it have this calming feeling to it but they know how to get people headbanging they are an awsome metal band

  • @Smackenzieth haha, headbang? yea. Moshpit? maybe not... i like to think of them as acid metal. haha, chillll

  • @MacMan282

nono i didnt mean moshpit. lol

ya acid metal maybe its chill shit at the same time, kinda hard to explain but still Tool is the shit

  • @Smackenzieth yea, definately best band... ever. Cannot be replaced.

  • @Smackenzieth straight Tool over here... and the occasional Eminem and Cage, but those are rappers.

  • @Smackenzieth I listen to other bands in order not to be completely sealed of from the musical-world outside of Tool. I think your statement all in all is kinda dumb.

  • @Oxpost nah i was just exaggerating, this has happened to me only a few times.i dont think its dumb tho.just that when im into a band i would rather listen to that band for a while then move on to a next one. ill listen to alot of progressive metal/rock and alot of death metal. but i do have those days where all i want to do is listen to Tool.not a bad thing, they are my favorite band

  • @Smackenzieth That makes more sense to me! :P

  • @Smackenzieth happens to me once in a while ;D

  • @Smackenzieth yes i agree dude. lol

  • @Smackenzieth i feel the same dude lol. only instead of porcupine tree (which im assuming is a band) its radiohead

  • @Smackenzieth

i know how you mean man, i hit tool (and paul gilbert, and necro) hard when i got into them (id tried a few times and couldnt before) its a sign that youve found something fresh and new, but dont get stuck there man. youll soon get bored of it if its all you listen to. mix it up with some similar stuff. like you said, Porcupine Tree, A Perfect Circle, a bit of Coheed if thats your thing (it is mine lol). have fun with good music :)

  • @swamdono yeah actually i got alot into death metal. Death, Obituary, Opeth (prog death metal),(old) Cryptopsy. my sorta thing right there but tool still delivers a metal sound despite how psychadelic they can be. tool is and will always be an awsome prog metal band to me cuz its just so original and atmospheric.

  • @Smackenzieth porcupine tree are the most underrated and most amazingly psychedelic band I've come across. Them, Tool and Pink Floyd are all you need.

  • man the end of this song is why i love tool rockin music with a caried melody and rythm that is so powerful makes me feel like i can do anything

  • sorry but this eon blue eclypse and the patient....der.

  • for those of you so concerned about the band's use of drugs let me reference two things here: first off, Bill Hick's quote about drugs doing good things for us (in a track on aenima) second: the creative concept Maynard has discussed about your mind being like a radio that you can tune based upon substances used to affect it (not sure where he got that from, so don't ask). so there you go. he's not a junkie or a member of D.A.R.E.

  • if I had to utilize a thought process, I'd say the answer is somewhere in between considering future satire of repeated drug use, as well as the song sober. so there you go. you may free yourselves of your useless squabbling now.

  • who gives a fuck, i dont care where they get their influence from, who or what, the fact is that they make the most beautiful and complex music known to man. i highly doubt that u know any member of tool, which meas ur talking out your ass with that coment. its like people saying that there are satanic lyrix in tools music, those ppl are full of shit to, maynard james keenan is the only person that should know what his lyrics are about, its up to ppl to draw their on conclusion, open ur mind

  • Yeah, because I totally can't do things like read their thoughts about their songs and ideas in interviews, press releases, and bits on websites that they back. Thanks for clearing up the idea that research is worthless. I suppose I can stop trying to learn now. You totally just changed my life man!

  • oh, and did you seriously say they make the most complex music known to man? have you not heard of people such as Beethoven? You know, those horribly simplistic composers of symphonic peices that dealt with a mere hundred or so instruments? Maybe with entire sections playing lines of music that would wind in and out of each other, along with solos and portions of great harmoneous sound? Understand what you speak of, simpleton.

  • @DavidsVirtualSelf haha nice,i love when people trash people for saying they listen to classical composers cause it shows how ignorant someone can be.tool is quite complex with sound and time changes but i think between the buried and me is the most complex and versatile band out there.listen to there album colors.

  • also, the lyrics are incorrect....It's "If there were no desire to heal THE damaged and broken MET along."

  • lets keep the caption off the video thank you.

  • I think the lyrics are "the damaged and broken met along" rather than "a damaged and broken man along".

  • jorenme2.. well said, i think maynard kind of thinks the same way ;)

  • such a great masterpiece of talented and high(in all meanings) musicians.

maynard is a unique dude,i wish i could have dropped some lsd hits with him in highschool.
