Urgh, stop complaining about 1 god damn inch of leg room for god's sake! Try flying low cost in Europe, that's tough on your legs. You should be thankful you have southwest! You get free luggage, food and drinks! If you don't like it go with another airline. Bloody idiots.
@727Mrpilot LOL! The 717 is a very old aircraft and most likely will be leased to companies, or any of the AirTran 717's will be sold or scrapped, or leased as I had said before!
I'm never flying southwest again, the middle passage actually looks a lot smaller. I can't stay cramped like that without room to stretch out. Way to torment your other flyers at the cost of comfort.
@butlerubball i'm 6'4 and the only airline i truly fit on is jet blue, i couldn't even imagine the pain of being 6'9 on these southwest planes. southwest is worthless.
bonus points for giving the new interior a stupid name. "evolve" into what? an airline that discriminates against tall people? the exact same thing most lame ass airlines are doing? this isn't evolution, this is bean counters caring more about profits than about passengers.
@butlerubball I can tell you from personal experience since I helped work the modification on this plane. You are NOT losing any space and GAINING comfort. While I'm not 6'9" (WOW!) I am 6' 1" and can tell you, I still have the same room. The magic is slimmer seats but with better comfort than the older seats. All I can tell anyone who doesn't believe it is to see for yourself when they come online gradually over the next year.
I'm guessing the exit window row every Business Select and A1-5 rush for with the extended leg room has gone bye-bye to accommodate the extra seats...
One more seat row, blander (is that a word?) seats, and a perculiar 80's looking squared carpet pattern. Not sure about this one, but it doesn't look like much of an improvement to me
So.. LUV has done away with the stitched heart in the headrest, and stolen Midwest Airlines' seat colours? The old seats were nicer. New cabin looks too sterile. Old cabin was warm and friendly.
Hopefully this cabin isn't a sign of the times to come, is it?
Honestly, I do not like this, I really liked the gold color with the seats for accent purposes. I can go with the ligher color carpet, but anything else I do not terribly like.
These seats are nothing new....it looks like they reused the old seats, used a hideous blue carpet, and the seat colours leave much to be desired. Coupled with the awful livery, how is this progress?
@urceyes Head cushions on the sides, and one extra row of seating. But the seats are thinner.. so leg room should stay the same. If that makes sense. Really nothing special, since other mainline carriers have already started incorporating these slimline seats.
Nice new look....BUT My only complaint is that I wish they would finally install traytables in the FRONT ROW since they are pulling everything out anyway! Our Customers would really appreciate that I think :) But otherwise GREAT JOB! I'm also really proud that my awesome Company went GREEN with this! Nice job!
@koochy79 No traytables? They are normally stowed inside the arm rest on Boeing 737's in the first row. Atleast thats what they do in Europe. I presumed the same for US?
I bet! Not sure what they're doing with old materials. But the seat frames are being reused for these new seats, so I don't know if they'll be made available!
it is the exact same

@HDMSFlight Incorrect The B717 is actually not old. Pretty New. Built in 2000 is not old.

@P40BH I noticed this later on, I was thinking of the aging MD-80. The last one rolled off the line in 2006 BTW.

Why did they use carpet that looks straight out of 1995? at least make it look modern if you're remodeling, that's the point. lol.

that 1 inch is costly to me, being a 6'9" passenger. thanks, southWORST, for making my flights even more uncomfortable

@butlerubball Well sorry, but you are a very small demographic.
It's hard to cater to everyone.

@had2bthere Well, it looks like you'll still have one desired seat (with no seat in front of it). Sadly though, extra leg room is probably gone.

How long until the "new" interior is rolled out to the entire fleet? Hopefully not as long as AA and their 757's!
