I think you have your strings backwards i think its E A D G (thickest to thinest), but then again I play guitar and bass and not violin. I want to start though.

theres also a program i use... Search it... Audio Tuner... its the same and you only need to play the strings and if you have a mic in your pc you can tune any instrument :) thanks for the lesson btw XD

It might be worth investing in Dominant strings,at around £30 a set in the UK. That give a much more full tone and should last longer as well. My new violin came with them fitted and they have lasted me over 6 months so far and are still going strong.

Btw, my violin is a Gliga Gems 1 and it has a very whole sound, worth £325 as I payed for it.

Chromatic tuners suck hehe. They're hugely inaccurate and the needle varies with the amount of pressure you put on the bow. Even though it's not supposed to. Do it by ear ;D

the g string is a bad joke -_-" but it brakes first on almost every string instrument i have ever owned. it sucks buying a pack of several strings for it and only actually needing one. cutting ur nails should be a requirement to playing any string instument.

You will notice at certain point Your ear becomes Waaay superior to the elektric thingy.

I remember having similar troubles tuning the thinnest string on my guitar (top E) as a beginner. Think that's because I was winding it down to the wrong octave though... (was just trying to get an E, any E xD)

Somewhat deserved i'd say, that string does not break by itself, its a nice reminder the instrument demands retecpt. An e string might be broken whilst playing occasionally. Butt not the fattest cable of the lot.

As for horny, the sad fact is that these lessons are more enjoyed when given by a cute girl such as nyuuchan, than as an ugly git such as myself. Sure i Grant u that.

Violin strings are meant to be tuned like that. Low G to High E, unlike perhaps what your thinking of is standard tuning of guitar which does go from Low E to ...well, high e. EAdgbe

the d was sharp in this video. were you tuning with the pegs or the fine tuners. because if you were tuning with the fine tuners it shouldn't have done that. the fine tuner would have just stopped moving eventually because it's a screw it can only move so far.

not that im an expert (far from it) but I recommend loosening the string that you are going to tune (with the fine tuners first, then the peg) and start with a looser string. Becareful not to loosen too much that when you tighten the string is not on the bridge...

actually lad... just look up the strings, and you can tune it. i mean, from left to right, the strings are G, D, A, E. that means, just look up the strings in the guitar tuner, and tune them to that, well thats what i did XD but of course, ill try to look for a violin tuner.

I saw that you put this video around June, but if the note is flat (on the left side) you tighten the string. If it's sharp (on the right) you loosen it up. Hope that helps (although I doubt it will. You probably learned it by now.)
