  • von which album is this?

  • @MythVids part I is from Blackwater Park and part II from it's reissue bonus disc ;)

  • only...opeth

  • Does anyone know where I can buy Part II?

  • whenever Patterns in the Ivy ends, I can hear "Blackwater Park" fading in in my head

  • Thanks Opeth for existing...

  • Part 1 is just absolutely beautiful. Perfect.

  • Beautiful! So calming.

  • dude Opeth played Patterns 2 at their show a few months ago... so freaking awesome... gave me goose bumps

  • 6:04 minutes of heaven on earth...

  • @petraizzg you sneeze for a long period in time...

  • Mikael Akerfeldt is a brilliant motherfucker !

Never listened and will never listen to a better music ,, I LOVE YOU OPETH !

  • is part 2 only available on the limited edition version of the album?

  • 1:46 for those who wish to only listen to Patterns in the Ivy II :)

  • @sp00ne why would anyone in their right mind want to do that

  • I want this song.

stupid spotify doesn't have the full version.

  • @InfestedOne557 i can upload it and give you the whole album

  • @InfestedOne557 go buy the cd that has both 1 & 2

  • Probably one of the best songs I've heard in long time!

  • smh

  • damn this music would be great for Diablo 3... ala tristram

  • the Laws of Physics stated that no known force in this universe can dislike a song like this... then came the quantum anomaly of Rebecca Black fans... and we have 13 dislikes...

  • should mikael be damned for creating the most addictive drug,

or should he be blessed for composing the most beautiful melodies?

  • Wish Opeth would make more music like this, nice soft soothing melody

  • @gatr16 I'm glad they keep a balance between smooth and not that smooth melodies...That's what makes them special, imho...

  • This song made Chuck Norris shed a single tear. That's how the Pacific Ocean was created. True story.

  • @InsecureAcorn Chuck norris is an idiot.

  • @4:24 !!! Fuck!!! makes me convert into a religion called "OPETH" !

  • @ankitadaulath its called Akerfeldtism! ;)

  • eargasm..

  • I get high when I listen to this song, no goddamn joke. So... amazing.

  • @eatifier

any song is amazing when your high lol

  • Where did you got this version????!! i cannot find it anywhere :((!!!

  • @destroyerr558 This is the combination of two different parts of the song. Part II is from the special edition of blackwater park. The originals don't flow together like this version does.

  • for gods sake opeth why do your lyrics have to be so indecipherable?

  • anyone else see a treble clef in the logo?

  • @jonok911 LOL its a joke, there is no god you fool

  • @irapedyourgoat you're the fool

  • @DecapitatedONE666 an interestingly defunct and obtuse retort sir...with a screenname like that, you dont share my atheism? not to mention the original comment i responded to included the phrase "jesus is god" which is biblically incorrect. problem?

  • does patterns in the ivy I remind anyone of sims? i dunno why but whenever i hear it, it reminds me of that ambient music in the sims. Still... a beeaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaautiful song. So SO SO glad they played it live at the royal albert hall

  • @jonok911 Akerstache is god. Jesus is not.

  • @xkhuongdox no the flying spagetti monster is!

  • @5Metalgod5 Blasphemy!

  • @xkhuongdox convert to Pastafarian its the only way!

  • Autumn is on its way, its September, its raining. Thank God for Opeth.

  • @pineapplepeanuts God is dead.

  • @horny0donkey0 No, this is Patterns in the Ivy, not The Devil's Orchard. :-p

  • @pineapplepeanuts God is still dead.

  • @horny0donkey0 Ahh the perpetual malcontent. Need a hug? :-p

  • @pineapplepeanuts okay xD

  • I've heard better.

  • I've had Blackwater Park for about a year now. I didn't know there was a Patterns in the Ivy Part II. So beautiful. Opeth always blows me away when they shove the amp in a closet and pull out their acoustics. I like the hard stuff, too, but stuff like this, like To Bid You Farewell, all of Damnation, it's what gets the most plays and sticks in my head the longest. Damn, I really want to go to their concert in Atlanta :(

  • This song is perfection

  • great song, some of the cheesy comments on the other hand...

  • whoever put it up, i would agree with that comment...it is a most profound composition and recording.

  • la raja este tema

  • I love the piano solo bit, how he uses different weights on the keys, awesome.

  • 11 people don't know what is music

  • T.T ..... too god for my ears!!

  • Thank you Opeth for this gift and all the rest of them, see you on October 13th at the Commador Ballroom.

    Much Respect,

    Tim.

  • love u opeth..u guys r awesom :)

  • Its a travesty there isn't a love button on here.

  • @mrcrazyaz *is the

  • When i feel hate for someone, I think, what would Jesus do? Oh, yeah, he would send them to a pit of fire for all of eternity.

  • @kathunx97 i remember in an episode of south park, eric(hates hippies)came across some hippies, and he thought:wait,wait....what should jesus do?...then he pulls out a gun and starts shooting them screaming:DIE HIPPIES,DIE

  • this was on the special edition of blackwater park, the original lacked this song as well as still day beneath the sun, the special edition was released a year later (wiki)

  • are there two versions of the album? it's not on the one i have..

  • @fallxtoxdead Part II is a bonus track on a re-released version of the album.

  • this music sounds very diablo-esque

  • wtf? i didn't know there was a part 2. what album is that on?

  • @fallxtoxdead on the same album :)

  • @AtomicExplosion95695 obviously you have no idea of what music opeth is.

    *facepalm

  • @colakh I heard Damnation and it was so much better than this. And I was on my period when I listened to this so it annoyed me.

  • this song just makes everything feel so different such deep feeling that could arise from inside something that we think we cant describe music like this makes me proud that im different and takes to a whole other time

  • Listen to the Opeth (YOU ARE GETTING SLEEPY VERY SLEEPY)

  • fuck drugs, I've got this music

  • @LethalCeltic : Totally agree.

  • @LethalCeltic ive got drugs....and this music :D

  • @LethalCeltic drugs and this music = even better.

  • @LethalCeltic am rolling one .. buhahahaha

  • @LethalCeltic Nope sorry, you need drugs too.

  • @LethalCeltic Drugs make it even better bro XD hahaha.

  • @LethalCeltic

I've got this music AND drugs! :)

  • @DrunkenLeprechaunPro I hear that. >; D

  • I now see why theres only the first part of it on the regular version of BWP. Its clearly better IMO and the second part doesnt come anywhere close to this.

  • somehow, only opeth are able to transmit this feeling, somehow of emptiness but also of hope...

    beautiful song(s)

  • i just find it so hard to understand how people (11 to be exact) could dislike a BEAUTIFUL guitar and a BEAUTIFUL voice :( such a wonderful song

  • one of my favourite Opeth songs, so haunting and beautiful, it does bring a tear to the eye

  • can somebody send me this? please

  • who would dislike something as beauty as this ?!!!!! 11 miss placed persons in this world

  • nice tracks... first one reminds me of gilas - little smoke, maybe youll enjoy that too... watch?v=cli2eJ8wqQc

    both great bands

  • Patterns 1: I picture myself walking in the middle of nowhere while snow gently falls. I keep walking in bliss and just when the song ends - I find myself in Blackwater Park.

  • @MyMytalMajesty I suppose you are going to call me a blasphemist now ;)

no I was just joking.. but it was a tribute to the music. Åkerfeldt is a genius

  • the most funny thing is... that I was so drunk when I recorded this...

  • I love playing this song!!!

  • My boyfriend and I made love to this song. Thank you Opeth.

  • h9;jbgnvxkfzf. sorry, cleaning the semen off my keyboard.

  • @MrPeterhippie thats old.

  • @igloo50 AMEN

  • @igloo50 IF I COULD AGREE MORE, I WOULD DIE.

  • @igloo50 i like to think "what would Brian Boitano do?"

  • @igloo50 write a jizzie eargasmic song

  • @igloo50 answer: write yet another masterpiece

  • @igloo50 *effective. And yes, I agree fuck Jebus.

  • @igloo50 youre a tool.

  • This is so.... prog rock 70 and SO... beautiful. Hail, Opeth.

  • epic... mistic...

  • Greatest band on the planet.

  • Musical euphoria

  • magical....

  • Didnt the guy from Porcupine Tree write this song?

  • @DaCourteousNiggaz

No, that was "Death Whispered a lullaby" from the Damnation album.

  • @DaCourteousNiggaz only the piano part

  • in my opinion OPETH are master musicians and have perfected their craft ...i love how they go from such a classical acoustic feel to metal and growling i love it so unique and not alott of bands can pull this off in any genre

  • One of the best bands out there. My band are deeply inspired by Opeth, mainly their acoustic or softer melodic material, but it sucks because we know that we'll never be able to do it anywhere near to the standard that Opeth do. It's easy to write a badass riff thats so heavy it makes a whale look like a feather and put some sick drumming and vocals to it, but this is the real musical talent. Rant over.

  • Love you Opeth. Miss you peter, martin, and per...

  • i usually listen to classical influenced metal & technical metal with fast difficult solos (jeff loomis, necrophagist, jason becker)

but opeth is and will probably always be my favorite band to listen to

  • I love the solo guitar sound during the chorus, it feels so pure..

  • danm i love this song its a masterpiece!

  • damnit, i started falling asleep and then the song ended. such flawless musicianship.

  • I have to admit the music is beautiful, but it is somewhat repetitive and can get boring at times.

  • amazing...thanks for uploading these two together!

  • nothings better then opeth.

  • I'm trying to think of the words to express what I just experienced. It was spiritual. When the actual lyrics "Patterns In The Ivy" Came in.. I felt a euphoric wave. It was almost like a high. Life seems so difficult at times... and I'm so thankful that I have this music to alleviate some of my burden.

  • @cvasudevan82 name a band better than Opeth. thats what i thought

  • @cvasudevan82 Care to explain? Listened to any of their other stuff?

  • @MrTestMusic Yea. Didnt really like. Some bands I really cant get into no matter how good they are.

  • @cvasudevan82 Well there was no reason to call it the most boring band on the face of the earth, especially since a lot of their stuff is fast paced. :P

But I do understand. Well good luck man! Hope you can find some music that suits you. :)

  • @cvasudevan82 Listen to Sunn-O))) Than think again. :D

  • @Pedaaal haha nice one

  • @cvasudevan82

    explain

  • @cvasudevan82 You might call this band boring, but to a true musician, listening to this is endless inspiration... the unique style, pattern, and sound overall just portrays a perfect, beautiful image of music theory itself.

  • @cvasudevan82 this guys a troll people. he lives in a cave

  • Awesome, great having these two side by side like this.. thanks for posting

  • Oh, and opeth r fookin ace. ;)

  • Wow that song is so relaxing, or would of been if I hadn't have to go and sort the baby out :( think another listen is in order. :)

  • im sorry but opeth are trully amazing, they are the creators of masterpeices, thumbs up if u agree

  • jsbc003, fuck you, just listen to the uber talent in this song, this song is just a really well done beautiful song. its truly a relaxing masterpeice. you feel me dawg?

  • @ChewbaccaFetus no ghetto slang please. Save it for a Snoop Dog post.

  • @bassman494 ghetto slang? boii you be jokn lie shi mayne, daaaamm. < that was ghetto slang, you fucking airhead.

  • ughhhhh......MMMmmamamammmmamammamammmmaaaaa......@_@ The Gods have spoken.

  • Its really weird, but it seems that all music from Scandinavia is amazing!! Lol

  • This is my first time hearing Patterns in the Ivy II. Damn, I have been missing out. This is excellent.

  • hey anyone can tell me which album is this off...on blackwater park there is only a 2 minute version of the song

  • @weischamp Blackwater Park special edition

  • @gsusfreak08 thx i need to buy it;) opeth are awesome

  • I listen to mostly Hiphop/ reggae/ Dubtep, but I must say Opeth blows my fuckin mind!! I gotta thank the sound man at a club I used to DJ at.. He would always play this song and Road to Perdition all the time while I was setting up!! I AM THANKFUL HE DID!!

  • Is it me, or does a lot of Opeth's acoustic songs sound like the Diablo music? That's what it reminds me of. At any rate this band is one talented group, unlike anything Ive ever heard.

  • @Shubalup I've ALWAYS thought this. Especially this song =P

  • Four fave prog bands ATM Rush, Tool, these guys and emerson lake and palmer.

  • I don't like it. I love it.

  • such a damn shame i bought the album without this bonustrack on it..

  • @joelism1989

    same here >:(

  • Nine people don't appreciate metal's beautiful side.

  • @codeaires

Even the heaviest of metal is beautiful. =D

  • I did a live cover of this, it was the most fun I had on stage!

  • @LotocSabbath The second part is one of the bonus track on a special edition of Blackwater Park. The other bonus track of this album is 'Still day beneath the Sun'.

  • I remember back in late 2001 I read about Blackwater Park and checked out this band. Little did I know the treat I was in for. As someone who digs early 70s European prog rock as much as metal, Opeth is the most fluid and frankly, the best combination of both. I have found so many good artists through Akerfeldt's interviews as well. This is a special band. I have their earlier releases on 2xlp vinyl and that adds yet another dimension to the sound. Modern vintage. Fulfilling. Fucking brilliant.

  • A big FUCK YOU to all the fake metalheads who're too metal for their own good. THIS is the pure music. THIS IS IT. Look no more.

  • hey I can`t find the second part on itunes help please!!!

  • @RgMetalLegend Download it from youtube.

  • Not everyone likes the same music, everyone is different. I'm sick of seeing all these negative comments about those who disliked vids. If everyone was the same we'd just be a bunch of weird conformist fucks. Just feel priveleged that you're one of the few who enjoys this magnificent music.

  • @LotocSabbath

Yea, I've definitely never heard that second part before

  • @busby2 it's a bonus track of Blackwater Park.

  • better days... after the sunset

  • @LotocSabbath

1:51, I think one of them is in damnation, i am pretty sure the first part is in between two really heavy songs in blackwater park or in deliverance, i think deliverance.

  • @313foxbody420 Correction, my good sir, they were both in Blackwater Park, part 2 is in the 2CD edition, and part one comes in between "The Funeral Portrait" and "Blackwater Park".

  • unconditionally beautiful.
