HEY!!! i salvaged 2 treadmill motors after a flood and the bearings are not rusted just dirty so i cleaned them, i disassembled the thing and used deep penetrating rust remover on the bearings and other rusted areas. What lube do i use for the bearings? I see one small bearing like one from a skate board and a larger one in front behind the pulley/flywheel. Also what do those the 2 wires that don't go to the brushes do? I wan't to use them as a generator on a 5 hp snowblower engine.
Those other two wires on mine supply the alternate voltages for speed control. Could be the same for yours. There are only two wires I'm concerned with for generating AC. I disreguard the others.
I use PowerLube to clean the bearings and lube them. just a couple drops is all it takes. if you have grit and grime in yours, you may want to replace them or put them in an ultrasonic vibrating parts washer to settle out the grit.
how many volts do these DC motor treadmills run on is it 12 volts DC? if It is and I can find the power supply to the motor I can maybe run something else with it.
This one will barely turn at 12 volts. The powerboard ramps the power up from 18 volts to 42 volts @ 2-6 amps DC. The DC voltage is sent through a potentiometer after being transformed and rectified from AC to DC. if you can get ahold of the speed control and the transformer, you'd have a nifty setup with speed control. if you can come up with 48 volts 5 amp (240 watts) Dc supply, you could theoretically get rid of the rectifier and transformer.
