Those who own cars will notice that the engine is stiffer when started up cold. You can test this either by driving ~10mph in 1st gear and suddenly letting off the accelerator in both a warm and cold car. The cold car will slow quickly and the warm car will slow gently. Only use high rpm if the motor is nice and loose.

Of course, if you spend all your time near fuel cut (racing), your motor will not last as long as if driven gently. Best to get some air moving through the radiator to keep cool.

Why do people do this? It will seriously reduce the life of your engine unless you are loaded and won't mind splashing the cash. Car manuacturers do not fit limiters for you to just switch the car on and just put your foot down, the purpose of the limters are there in case you accidentally overrev the engine and the pretty redline on the Tachometer is supposed to warn you that you are pushing the engine too hard. Pathetic, let someone own this Audi who can appreciate and respect it properly.
