@zeshleman I liked it, found it very "atmospheric" at the second half of the levels. The graphics were tolerable, the sound could be better but I liked it. And it gets really hard at the "hard" difficulty, but as I recall you could only play it at "hard" only if you finished it first at "medium". I expected Space Marines and Dreadnoughts not only to shoot, but to charge also. At least the Raptors charge.

Gameplay wise, it was a constant romp through endless corridors going from one objective to the next while at the same time having to collect keys to open doors, something which would appeal to Doom or Dark Forces fans but at the time with all the games around which were focused more on story then maze FPS it got bad reviews compared to it's contemporaries. Personally I rather enjoyed it and the objects are coherent to the storyline as it plays out. All in all good, but again needed polish.

It was a decent game for it's time, it wasn't really buggy, or anything else, it's graphics admittedly were an enigma. Some textures were great, while others were blurry like N64 grade textures. Poly-count wise, the game was a couple of years behind other games of the time, but this was so that it could run on the PS2, on the PC it has a higher poly count which was more in tune with the time. Only thing it really lacked was polish. It's multiplayer was rushed and abysmal.

Its so sad i mean warhammer esp 40k has never been portrayed correctly in games or movies yet, they always come out some what poor Dawn of war 2 is about the only thing so far to make it awesome. I really hope to see a trilogy of epic movies LOTR style with Warhammer 40K possibly through an imperial guardsman seeing marines join the battle against orks and eldar or somthing. it really has the most awesome backstory warhammer, or movies on the horus heresy!

It has poor graphic by console standard. Poor, confusing and lack of depth storyline, shallow gameplay and unimpressive first hand impression. Its a playable game, but it sucks. Play Dawn of War Dark Crusade, made a change, Tau ary is way better in the RTS. Dawn of War 2 still need to wait for Tau. If you you want FPS, Call for Duty yeah!

I agree (SM's r too cool to hang out with Tau) but according to the 40k fluff they have teamed up a few times. eg Ultramarines and the Tau teamed up when Necrons awoke on a world they were fighting over. And the Ultramarines let the Tau evacuate before they destroyed the planet.

The storyline mimics that of the book, but it fails a fair bit. If you've read Simon Spurrier's Fire Warrior, it's a much better storyline. The characters actually develop and it's all based on how Kais is tormented and slowly turns to chaos. In the game there's none of that because it doesn't translate very well.

I've played it, and beat it, twisted ending with the Chaos Forces and your taking on some massive critter with an almost endless supply of guns.

"a compact lightweight blend of carbon fiber weave and underlying ceramic plates". do you know what that also is in the real world? bullet resistant vests. thats right the most advanced army in the game is wearing civilian bullet vests. think about that.
