My god this movie has an incredible history behind its production. Can you imagine that first George Lucas (INdiana Jones and Star Wars) turned it down when he was asked to help make it, then chuck jones (Looney Tunes Shorts) turned downt he project then some other guy took up the project and hired Ray bradburry (author of Fahrenheit 451) himself to help with the screenplay. This movie in almost unheard of yet its a legend in hollywood.

I believe Yoshifume Kondo had something to do with this. He was a Ghibli director (tho not at the time) and I know he directed the Nemo short film that was sort of a test sequence based on early drafts of the script. he probably also did the earliest character designs, tho the final film doesn't have much of his style, so I'd guess that someone else actually directed the feature.

Kondo went on to direct "Whispers Of The Heart" for Ghibli, but died before he could see it's success in theaters.

Well, here's how much I know about this movie.

In the early 1980's, Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata worked on the film, but quit after many arguments. It was finished by another anime company (forgot it's name.) It was released in 1987 in Japan, and was distributed by Hemdale in America in 1992, not Disney as it is commonly confused for.

i don't know. If you mean it would of been better publizied by Disney, you're probaly right. But the movie was fine the way it was. The movie was disturbed by Hemdale pictures, being an American idea, but it was animated by a Toyko company.

As for the movie itself, it flopped when released in theaters, reasons unknown. But the film became a cult classic when released on video, selling over 2 million copies. As for you who keep asking about the song, you could try checking the video description.

I enjoyed this video. For those of you who have comments I have answers. First off, Nemo was not done by Disney but a different company. The blob or red piercing eyes was the Nightmare King. Little Nemo was based off a comic strip done by Winsor McKay back in the 1900's. The movie takes elements and characters from the strip, but some fans have said the movie isn't as artistic as the strip was.
