@sumoni Usually in kid-centric scary stories, parents are utterly useless. It's more dramatic to have the kids face the monster or threat alone and defeat it.

Besides, if horror's taught us anything, it's that kids are the best equipped to battle the supernatural, because they believe and are able to accept things. Adults, being too hard headed and rational, refuse to believe until its too late and the kids have the pull their asses out of the fire (like in Stephen King's "It" for example).
