If they can make it so the Engine runs with the wings folded to get it away from the side of a boat and MAKE a lifting eye to lift it on and off a boat It will Sell like no other aircraft.
fuck i wish santa really existed, then i will change my ways and become a good boy, and put this on my wishlist and start blackmailling him with the list
Great little craft but the director and editor of the film should be shot. Impossible to get a good look at it flying with all the artsy snap shots. There were some terrific aspects and views but lost to artistic interpretation. Kids with short attention spans will love it though. Otherwise good looking plane.
@anothercrusader yes, I just can´t understand how video producers came to the conclusion that human beings can digest ten thousand images in two minutes. lovely amphibian though.
@anothercrusader So true! I was like "just leave the friggin' camera turned on and pointed at the damn thing! This isn't an audio/video class project!" But lots of companies do that quick snapshot, give 'em a glimps and move on kind of video production. Iritates the shit out of me
@0Heavy0Metal0 Icon is now the featured aircraft in Microsoft Flight (an airplane video game). It might have been though to be a good advertising strategy, but as it turns out, Microsoft Flight is now possibly the most hated product that Microsoft has put out in its entire history! LOL
so peopel ask some retarded questions.... Love the aircraft. versatile.lean cockpit. easy operation. Been on the site for this aircraft. If had the money i would have one in my collection
Get it at walmart at the low price of three million dollars!
Come in quick for our buy one get another full price exclusive discount! And we'll give you a 30 day trail! If you don't like it!, we don't give a f--k!
This can go on land and water. Takes regular fuel, you can store it in your garage like a boat because the wings fold back. For 135,000 its worth the money. 1,320 pounds maximum takeoff weight (1,430 pounds for seaplanes). The inside looks like a sports car. You just need the Sport Pilots license to use this epic aircraft.
I have a stupid question? when landing on water do you come in with full power( Pilots only answer) I am working towards my privet, I just have my cross country left and my check ride, I flew my first low wing last year. I thought the tranz from high to low wing would be difficult but it was vary smooth.
@buckbeak1965 you don't come in with full power but you hold the power in until the plane is firmly on the water, unlike landing on a runway where you pull the power and let the plane almost stall. the key is to set the plane done as SMOOTH as possible on the water so you don't flip or bounce the plane back up.
I checked out the Colyaer S100 and yeah it's a lot light but looked like a paper mache compared to this. Having a instructor and new buyer crash & die in TN last year doesn't help. The only comparable I saw so far is Lisa's Akoya. Since LSA is so new and now they have a safety conscious aircraft maybe the FAA can look at the weight limit again. Why did Cirrus scrap SRS??
This plane is gorgeous-looking but it needs to be lighter for it to have a higher useful load. The way it's designed it can only carry one full sized adult.
Check out the colyaer vids on youtube - same concept. They have been advertising in Aussie aero mags and their specs are pretty good. Boring looking compared to this thing though! Useful load is heaps better but I like the side-pod things on this one - look like you might be able to stand on them to tx from a boat or sit on them and dry off a little if you swum out to it... If they get the weight right I reckon amphibs are a neat way to get around the LSA retractable gear rule. Good luck!
1320 lbs is the maximum take off weight for the ENTIRE PLANE, including fuel and passengers. The plane alone weights 1000 lbs. leaving only 320 lbs for fuel and passengers.
It doesn't need any of that. That would, in all probability, make it cost /more/ than it already is. There will be so few of these that their ecological impact will be next to nothing.
Very attractive but I think it's all FLUFF. Useful load is attrocious ! Looks like a bunch of hype to generate deposits and then disappear with the money ala Jim Bede. I don't think this aircraft will ever come to be. They still haven't figured how the gear is going to retract
It's recieved too much publicity to disappear. It's been covered by Popular Science, Wired Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Robb Report, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Popular Mechanics, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Plane & Pilot, Outside Magazine, Ultimate Jet, Wallpaper*, Oshkosh 2008, Yachts International, Road & Track, Maxim ,Aviation Week, WaterFlying, Mens Journal, and Land Rover Lifestyle.
Nah don't agree - while I am not putting the mocha on this AC I followed the eclipse 500 progress closely and they got more publicity, lots of money and still folded. I love this thing and reckon it can succeed but I want to see less PR fluff (thanks savagecub).
it sounds really cool, but as a sport reacreational aircraft (sra) it is useless if it is incapable of vertical take-off and landing. An amphibius sra with hovering and vertical capabilities will not be a bad idea in short, a hybridised amphibius recreational sports helioplane (HARSH)
Don't you expect too much from recreational aircraft? Vertical take off and landing demands a lot of engine power and is rather unsafe in event of engine failure.
My personal aircraft of choice for recreation is Swift S-1 glider. Rated to +10/-7 G. Find a reasonably priced plane that can handle that.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we enjoy to design new aeroplanes?
(2) What do we think about how we fly 50 years later?
(3) Where do we obtain our inspiration of ideas to design and to build new aeroplanes? (eg. birds, ocean animals, forest..etc)
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
