I would really like to know who wrote the music and the lyrics. The text is a nice try but doesnot amount to much. The singing however is so great that it moves you in spite of the text. Billy and Marily could sing anything and still move your heart ... !!
It also depends on what you mean by Hardcore. If you mean SOUL...well soul is written all over t heir songs...soul is a state of mind not just a genre of music. Many of their more "soulful" tunes weren't marketed much. And some of their songs, if arranged just a tad differently could have been R&B/Soul tunes.
But just listen to Too Poor to Die,/Feelin Alright?/This is Your Life/My Song/ The whole Portrait lp is basically R&B. This group could blow no matter what they sang.
Deep Lyrics....Great melody...I LURVE the multi-leads on this one...and just the overall arrangment of it...again it comes from that fantastic Soul & Inspiration album...an very UNDERRATED lp IMO....It's my FAVORITE.

Hi Noodleydoo!...I agree with you. ( But thanks, Light Zings!!!) .. The song that's been really hard for me is "Orange Air" from the Magic Garden album. I bought an Asian import of the CD which had lyrics, but they were laughably wrong! Anyway, I think I've got them all deciphered now, but I guess I'll never know for sure.

compared to other songs of the era, theres not much hardcore about it..that wasnt the fifth dimension's style anyway.its still a nice tune
