  • Lol. No offense to crossfit & all who participate, but anyone can do what they do, but with better form. I agree with some of u, that they worry about time rather than correct form. I tried crossfit and realized I'm just paying for a personal trainer?? I would rather pay money to a gym with all a pool, sauna, free weights, and all the good stuff, and gives me time to work out rather than just having specific times where I have to rush to do crossfit. Btw, I never paid. Did a trial, the owners w

  • So board of people knocking crossfit - it works; the results always speak for themselves. Not only do you get the results but Glassman has made training to an elite level a really fun activity thanks to crossfit. Additionally he is not proclaiming to have created it; just explaining it in lamens terms.

  • @peterlangdown you spelled bored* wrong. I'll give it to this vid. It's one of the only crossfit vids I haven't wanted to cry while watching. Although, they could get their chests up more. The theories behind crossfit are there, which is why you will see results, like you said. However, the coaches and exercise selection are absolutely terrible. Wait 20 years and see how you're muscles and joints are feeling. If you want to get into the science of it, send me a message.

  • will this burn belly fat

  • do all deadlifters get big asses?

  • @bladdan no....

  • @WhiteMoonLights who then? LOL

  • The heavier the load the more it moves to conventional and the hips drop back and down. Also the knees will bend more.

  • You guys are shit talking haters. Crossfits deadlift is a hybrid between a romanian/straight leg as to put the load on the lower back, hams and glutes. It is built for speed and high reps. The focus is on developing fast hips and a strong core. There are many types of DLs.The conventional has the load placed on the legs and back. Crossfit has various squats and pull ups for that. I have been in the fitness industry for 20 years and yes very rarely do you see any type of DL being performed.STFU

  • @FITT101 fast hips? LOOOOOOOL

  • @bladdan Yeah Hip Drive...Fast,Strong,Powerful Hip Movement...is that funny?

  • @FITT101 now its even more funny, lame explanation

  • its hard to fap with this asshole talking

  • "in a globo gym you don't see them performed. In a CrossFit gym they're the staples." ahahahahahahahahahahhaha, ah yes, the mystical deadlift, a secret known only to crossfitters and no one else. get over yourself.

  • Thank you Crossfit for inventing this exercise!

  • DAT ASS

  • The technique is wrong and dangerous, the weight should go down quickly, almost thrown to the ground. By going down slowly you risk back injury.

  • Damn that's a hot nice big ass at the beginning

  • Use a hex bar.

  • dem asses

  • (Gymnstics) Coach Glassman sounds like a an untrained idiot in this video, which he is, big shock.

  • I'd also like to add that I'd rather pay money to a trainer who has a college degree in physical fitness and/or an extensive background in working with athletes.

  • I don't know what this guy is talking about but I see people doing deadlifts at my "globo" gym. A crossfit box isn't the only place you will find athletes doing this type of exercise. Half the time in Crossfit comps they aren't even being done right. They're so worried about their time they throw form out the window. I'd rather learn Olympic lifts from a olympic lifting coach rather than from some Man/woman cleaning to know a thing or two about fitness just because they run a "box".

  • is he high?

  • OK it's nice that Crossfitterfatters go and exercise but bullshitting people with pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo 'DL is in your dna you pick your keys and life is magnificent' - WTF?! :D

  • Yeah they're doing alright here.

Go look at videos of them deadlifting in competition.

I nearly slipped a disk just watching it.

  • I love/hate deadlift and squat day.

  • the first chick keeps shrugging her shoulders: major NO-NO

  • NICE ASS

  • part of your DNA? lmao fail.... crossFit isnt bad,not great either, not to mention most ppl doin it never lifted before and their expected to do Olympic lifts, btw i lift at globo and do deadlifts twice a week

  • @joe00pimp I like how he says they'll make you punch harder hill climb harder on a bike and so on and so forth.

  • Why do ppl use switched hand grips when performing the deadlift

  • I like how he only usues hot chicks to keep your attention.

  • i am amazed how CrossFit revolutionized everything we know about lifting, how many programs actually INVENT new routines like CrossFit! I'm a fan for life and yes, I am a believer!!

  • the video would be alot better if the birds had a couple of cocks hanging out the back of it!!!

  • Crossfit thinks it invented Olympic lifts

  • @loopba Lol...no, but there starting to bring them back, and expose them to people who would have never even thought about trying them. There awesome when it comes to fitness, CFrs like doing and talking about them. But maybe they should have asked your permission first...lol

  • this speaker is a smug piece of shit

  • @Luntofwar Of course he's a crossfitter.

  • take your shoes off and no shrugs babe

  • What does deadlifts works for? I dont include them in my routine. What am i missing?

  • @Demmitri: Deadlifts work your posterior chain, everything from your calves, up through quads, hamstrings and glutes, then erector spinae, finishing off with traps and rhomboids, with your abs and obliques playing a major stabilizing role.

  • @Demmitri: The first phase of the lift is an anterior to posterior motion, as you use quads to get the bar up to around knee-height. Then it shifts to being a fully posterior motion as the glutes and hams drive the hips forward to generate lift, and then ending with the erector spinae fully upright, shoulders back into a locked out position.

  • @USMCM1A1 So basically to do a deadlift correctly you to push off with your legs up to your knees and then use your back and glutes to lift the rest of the way?

  • @ninjarain1022 Basically, yea :)

  • @Demmitri:

This is a complex, whole body movement that makes you functionally strong picking things up. Also, for people who tend to emphasize anterior lifts like squats and bench press, this is an important lift for balancing your body's front and back.

  • Shoulder's are in front of the bar, that's about rule number one of what not to do when deadlifting...

  • OMF enough with the preacher-man... yeah, crossfit invented the deadlift... not.

  • dam! fit chicks got some nice round asses

  • Why is she doing shrugs at the begginning???

  • damn shes thin and high!!!!

  • crossfit seems like a cult.

  • @SkeksisRule haha, it does a bit.

  • that bitch is huge at 1:20

  • Holy shit, crossfit trainers are so fucking pompous.

  • Know any good Spine DR? Whipping the neck like that will cause neck and low back problems, Head movements independent from hip drive should be save to max effort only

it is obvious from this Video that ALL C-fit DL key from their Hip flexors TOO much

I give this one 1 star

  • This vid would be better if that asshole would just shut up

  • There's a statistically significant proportion of women to men in this video.

  • Crossfit is for girls.

  • Crossfit... Crossfit's like a lot of stuff. Want to get all the girls pregnant, want to herd all the guys onto a bus and push it off a cliff.

  • Nice footage of the deadlift, but would someone please shut that man up? Yes, we know deadlifts are good, people have done them for years. Who the hell are you, the fucking Shamwow guy? Thank you for putting so much work into selling an exercise that has been done for 50 years, I forgot that you invented it. Honestly...

  • improve swim times? Did i hear correctly? I will tell my wife about this, she wants to get better timing in her swimming.

  • @maquahuitl it doesnt help swim times, weights of any kind have little benefit to swimming

  • why are most of these pretty fine and/or jacked chicks wearing running shoes?

  • proper training shoes helps your feet, knees, and most joints throughout the body, it displaces the weight properly and what not..

  • i understand that but the best way to go about that is to use a flat sole, chuck taylors are the perfect example. this gives you the best support asides from doing the lift barefoot. doing a compound lift in running shoes is similar to doing the lift on a mattress

  • @skunkbutt1 would it be better for me to use 'street soccer'/'futsal' shoes rather than running shoes?

  • definitely i checked out a pic of them on google, those'll work perfect.

  • @skunkbutt1 Thanks =D

  • Loves this.

  • spine should be kept in neutral. head isn't supposed to move, don't keep trying to look at one point.

  • The girls at the start are lovely. :-D

  • haha hot and strong, she can protect you at night and keep you warm at the same time =p

  • Really excellent video. Do you have one showing Sumo style?

  • perfect deadlift the first one, havent seen anyone doing this absolutely correct! good tutorial

  • you haven't been looking in the right places then

  • The second giril is doing stiff legged

  • No she's not. A stiff legged deadlift doesn't bend at the knees.

  • It's a stiff legged deadlift, not a straight legged deadlift. There is a difference. The only requirement for the stiff legged deadlift is that the legs remain in the same position as you started the movement and end the same way.

  • good video. the first girl is an oly lifter, you can tell because of her perfect form and she shrugs the bar at the top of her lift... the second girl is just doing RDL's not the deadlift.

  • Big Squats Lead To Big Deads, Stay Tight And Push Through The Floor

  • deadlfting is the shit

  • ...

  • Good explanation, but that first girl is setting a bad example, you don't shrug at the top of a deadlift

  • I freakin love deadlifts , but in my DNA , they re not

  • People with trainers are never in very good shape.

  • That was a very ignorant comment

  • Can someone tell me how many reps I'm supposed to do in a set? Should I work my muscles to fatigue with each set?

  • well it depends if you want to tone your muscles and lose or fat or just gain muscle. if you want to tone do a lot of reps with a smaller weight;for more muscle do less reps but with more weight. hope this helps!

  • this depends on your body type

  • Should we keep our feet flat on the ground during the entire motion, or can we push off w/ our toes?

  • too much back and not enough ass if you end up on your toes. try to drive from your heels to bring it max hip

  • You should never be on your toes. You always want to be pushing thru your heels.

  • wait...only some of them.

  • these chicks aren't putting their asses down far enough. they're gonna hurt their backs that waaaay.

  • you guys are fucking doing it right.

  • That's what I've said - it should be close to your body, not sliding aside it.Maybe you need to watch it again

  • There's no harm in sliding the bar down your thighs. It's just putting less horizontal stress on the back.

  • The worst deads I've ever seen! You're not supposed to slide the weight down your thighs but to lower it slowly, barely touching them! Some pros.

  • worst deads youve ever seen? please.. the closer the weight is to your body the less strain is put on your back..

  • i see these all the times in the 'globo' gym.

  • All good things come from deadlift!!! LMAO

  • no need to instruction, just watch and copy, cause its the best video ive ever seen on deadlift execution

  • I have been to a crossfit certification, and all of these people are olimpic weight lifting certified. So before you speak, might want to do some research. They are right on! Ohh, and let's see your form. I'm sure it's awesome.

  • its funny all the girls happen to be attractive with big asses

  • lmao, they got the asses doing the lifts

  • The first girl, and the last guy had too much shoulder movement. The rest were spot on. I wish everyone was lifting with this kind of form!

  • 1:17 is disgustingly skinny

  • Dont forget these woman have never deadlifted in there life. This is the first time.

  • Id have to agree. This is a pretty piss poor demo

  • i know. where was the instruction.

  • it says introduction not instruction

  • Holy cow this is atrocious. Every one of these individuals demonstrates some significant flaw in their deadlift form - some demonstrate several. For an organization that touts its focus on technique, this is pretty shameful. As weights increase these flaws will turn into injuries if not corrected. Some teaching from someone with a substantial powerlifting background would be in order here. This video should be called "How Not to Deadlift (CrossFit Style)"

  • where's your video? anyone can talk about deadlifting....most of you don't actually have the balls to do them though.

  • You're a moron.

  • Couln't agree more buddy.. technique is vital in the deadlift and if its not followed then injury is inevitable..eventually.. especially as the weight increases!

  • WTF is the commentary?!

  • why do we need to have diffrent grips for both hands?

  • You only really need a grip like that with high weight. easier to hold on to.

  • That grip is for a light and moderate weight.

The other grip which your palms is facing you and the other is facing the bar, is for heavy weight.

  • I think the deadlift is the only excercise in which proper form looks more awkward than improper form. Maybe im just used to doing it wrong:P

  • its just cus girls are doing it

  • they ALL do it with correct form, ive never ever ever heard anyone say any bullshit about dont lift it til its above your knees

  • The one starting at 41 sec does a good job.

  • That one has poor hand position, is yanking out of the bottom, is unevenly touching during transition, is not fully extending/locking at the top or tucking the hips in, and is pulling straight up instead of back. She's a wreck.

  • Wow. Every single one of these people demonstrating deadlift form have bad form. None of them wait to get the bar above the knees before driving the hips forward and because of that they're all trying to lift the weight with almost 90% back and letting the weight pull them forward. This works, obviously, with the weenie weight they're using, but once you start hitting proper weight your spine'll crumble into fine powder. This video should be deleted.

  • My favorite exercise....also the best one out there.

  • just don't try to lift your 1Max for 2 ;)

now i have a month without deadlifts ;( or cleans ;(

  • Bad form on the first girl. She breaks with the knees... And shrugs the weight up which is bad also.

  • Quite right! and the second girl her feet are too close together! People putting 'instructional' videos on the net should make sure they are at least qualified to catch bad form!

  • Foot placement is an individual preference. The closer your feet are to being under your hips the better for maximizing power. As long as your heels are carrying the weight and not the forefoot and your back is protected.

  • the deadlift also adds 3 inches your your penis!

  • lol when i look in the mirror, my erector spinae are almost non-existant... i should prolly do these.

  • yep

when I was really into the gym this was my best lift

my erector spinae are STILL over developed compared to the rest of my back :) strong cables there

  • lol i know someone who looks like he has a jetpack under his skin because his erector spinae are so huge.

  • bet hes strong as fuck

  • What does he say about the knees when he's talking about the downside of deadlifting?

  • the only downside is the name not the knees.

done correctly there is no downside of deadlifts

  • deadlift, squat, bench press holy trinity of working out.

  • don't forget clean and jerk

  • that too. but trinity means three not four

  • Amen brother

  • lol those are the powerlifting events, clean and jerk are the olympic events i think...

  • there is no reason,to be alive,if you can not do the DEADLIFT!!!

  • that was epic ownage my friend

  • i dont like to put anybody down but this is useless watch Andy Bolton DL Videos or Jon Pall Sigmarsson Videos and you will see how to do a good deadlift

  • Please make more videos!

  • Deadlift is one of my favorite lifts and this was a great vid on it

  • Fantastic video.

  • i didn't like the first person's form. i liked the second, and everyone elses.

can you please clarify the difference between russian and romanian styles?

why do some people say that this way (as you show) is the only real deadlift, and the other way is just a squat?

    thanks.

  • deadlifts are not genetics lol this helped me with my deadlift quite a bit

  • the first girl has excellent form...

  • It's not clear whether the video shows the students learning to do it (possibly incorrectly) or whether they demonstrate proper form.

  • two words

    sex

  • No, just a clarification. I'm not selling anything.

  • what is this, an infomercial?

  • The "Health Lift" has two points of differentiation from a Dead-weight lift.

In the "Health Lift" machine, as with other variants ("Reactionary Lifter" "Adrian P. Schmidt's Automatic Exercise Device"), the palms of the hands are facing each other, approximately at mid-thigh height. The vertical movement is only a few inches and the weight is centered automatically, not on axles out to the side of the body. This allows for enormous weights to be lifted.
