no guys the fifthys and sixthys are in america's histroy forever 70 and 80's ok but the classics never die and as long as we have youtube it lives forever
This is was the very first r roll song I ever heard in my teen years. That sound thrilled me like nothing before. I just couldn't stop swinging with it.
I'd say "the whole purple gang" has learned with B Halley. This man really was the first one.
On July 9, 1955, this song hit #1, which began the Rock Era. On November 25 of that year, this song hit #1 in the United Kingdom, becoming the 6th #1 song of the Rock Era in the UK.
when me and my class danced this song for our barn dance we totally enjoyed it but now that i've seen this video i feel a bit embarassed that i danced it
Every Kid should have manditory Education in all Schools, all Colleges, and all Universities on all Rock And Roll Singers from the 1950s,1960s,and Early 1970s. Elvis Presley,Bill Haley And The Comets,Chuck Berry,Jerry Lee Lewis,Buddy Holly,Carl Perkins,Johnny Cash,Little Richard,Bo Diddley,The Everly Brothers,Fats Domino,The Beatles,Etc should be the Main Performers every Child must have manditory Mathmatical and Historical back of their Head knowlege of from the time they are 6 years old until
Voila un des pionniers du rock and roll : Bill Haley sans oublier les autres étoiles, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Richie Valens, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis bien sur et j'en oublie. Avec aussi d'autres moins connus comme The Kalin Twins, The Everly Brothers, etc etc
July 9, 1955. The day that the music scene changed forever. It was on this day that this hit by Bill Haley and His Comets was declared the #1 song in the USA. It also hit #1 in countries around the world. It would finish at #2 at the end of the year, falling to the song that it knocked out of the #1 spot (Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White; Perez Prado). Clearly, the Big Band Era was over and there was a new sound on the scene. Bill Haley, the Father of Rock and Roll.
How could someone think that he "failed" by knocking over the mic stand? He had the crowd in tbe palm of his hands! ...I see Mr. Picky made no comment about the music,,,,And that's what it's all about..............GREAT VIDEO
After Bill Haley and the Comets visited England, this caused the English to get into the Blues and ramp it up, later causing the English invasion to America...
No offense but it sounds like they are saying "The Key! "The Key is back!" at the end: Do they mean the bathroom key? Actually I figured out what they were saying.
im 24 yrs old, and this music is so great! i wish music was still like this! I hate modern music! Well after the early 90s any ways. i like my Ac/dc and styx! Alice Cooper etc. But without bands like Bill haley and his Comets and A lot of others, Ac/dc and company probably would not exist! Everyone knows....ITS OK TO ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK because ROCK AND ROLL AIN'T NOISE POLLUTION!
Wow! The lead guitarist Johnny Kay was my guitar teacher for almost 5 years, starting lessons with him about 10 years ago now. I've played guitar now almost 15 years and he was the single most influential person in my life when it came to, not just guitar, but music as a whole. If you live in//around Delaware than you still may be able to look him up and schedule lessons with him. I couldn't suggest a better person. He even sold me one of his guitars! Here is his website: jkrockets(DOT)com
Bill Haley is known the world over as the Father of Rock ’n’ Roll. Haley was the first white artist to combine elements of rhythm & blues, western swing, and hillbilly music to produce the upbeat, danceable, and infectious sound known today as rock ’n’ roll/rockabilly.
I was 9 years old when this song came out. It was first released in 1953 and fell on it's face. TOO RADICAL. The it came back as the theme song for the movie "Black Board Jungle" in 1955. The movie starred Glenn Ford, Sal Mineo, Sidney Portier, Anne Francis and couple of other "unknowns". It was a overnight hit and the rest, as they say, is history. Even today a 10 year old knows this song.
If you like this song please take a look @ my channel where I have videos of me singing this music plus 29 other songs including Beatles plus other music from 60/70s. If you like please pass on to your friends & subscribe.
Number one 7th jan 1955 36 weeks in the charts and the only record to return to the top twenty on 5 occasions ,and at this concert BILL blew away Chuck Berry Little Richard who was booed off after 3 songs and Jerry Lee Lewis.
"I don't remember adding any corrections after your last reply?? I loved both the Movie and the Song! When I saw the movie, and then saw Bill and his comets at the Gaumont England; I was a fan! Us Teddy-Boys loved all Rock/Roll!"
In 30th of April 1977-In Pontiac, Michigan, Led Zeppelin did a show to a crowd of 77,229. The gig set a new record for attendance at a single-act concert. In a few days it will be the 34th anniversary since this tremendous record. Because of this, we fellow rockers like YOU will be leaving negative comments, disliking, and flagging on JUSTIN BIEBER song:BABY on Saturday 30th April 2011. The aim is to have more dislikes than likes. Post this to every good ROCK VIDEO AND THUMBS UP TO KEEP IT UP!
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens? to real music, thumb this up, then copy & paste it to at least five videos. Don't let classics die.
@walter4092 "I can never understand you jokers? 'Never hit the charts!' And what the hell do you know? I saw this guy and the comets in 1957 LIVE! in England. I was also one of the first to see his movie 'Rocker around the clock. When I was a teenager we used to dance to all this Hip-music! Why don't you buy another book??"
@Grifiki i did mean that when this record was released in 54 it didn t hit the charts , but 2 years later after the movie where the song was played this record became the record where the young ones were waiting for aand in trhe usa it became a hug hit , but in Europe where i live ( and that s not my fault ) rock n roll was not in ,the people here were not ready for that new sound , and by the way i have the britain hits 1952-1999 ,
@Grifiki google and see , rock around the clock has a valse start in 54 , in juli 55 after the movie it became a top 3 hit in the usa and 17 in Britain , with all respect , i see that you are 71 years od , maybe born in 40 ,
i never said that Bill Halley was not a big star , he was

The man said it all. The KING! That's my opinion as well.the no#1 song of rock-n-roll?ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK!!!! Long live the king,Bill Haley.Long live Rock!!!!!!
Bill took tired deadbeat hillbilly to a new level and genre and for the record move it on over is a copy of Little Brother Montgomery,s Vicksburg blues after Hanks death when ROCK AND ROLL came along it was reissued with heavy guitar dubbed on to cash in Hank was well know in all the states having toured in 45+ of them.
I was 9 years old when this song came out. It was first released in 1953 and fell on it's face. TOO RADICAL. The it came back as the theme song for the movie "Black Board Jungle" in 1955. It's not a good idea to go to biebers video & click the dislike button cause every time we go to his video he gets payed a few cents cause his vid's sponsered. Instead we pick songs like this & get as many people as we can to watch so by the 1st of march on biebers birthday all rock videos will be most viewed on youtube charts. This will get the younger audience to listen to good music & might have good rock bands form again.PLEASE SPREAD THIS MESSAGE!
Who did not record rock and roll or play it till 1955 4 years after Bill and for the record at this concert Bill blew away Chuck Jerry lee and Little
Actually, I'd like to say it was Hank Williams, in which Move it on Over which this song was pretty much copied off of. Hank Williams is arguably the FIRST recorded rock song of all time, so my hats off to him imo

Bill took tired deadbeat hillbilly to a new level and genre and for the record move it on over is a copy of Little Brother Montgomery,s Vicksburg blues after Hanks death when ROCK AND ROLL came along it was reissued with heavy guitar dubbed on to cash in Hank was well know in all the states having toured in 45+ of them.

this song really loses all it's power after listening to "Move it on Over" by Hank Williams in 1947.......
still good song, made history. Maybe without this song and others that got inspirated by Hank Williams, we would never had known Hank Williams

The first king of Rock n Roll.

@Herniuspictures

PLEASE READ!

Actually, I'd like to say it was Hank Williams, in which Move it on Over which this song was pretty much copied off of. Hank Williams is arguably the FIRST recorded rock song of all time, so my hats off to him imo
