@fafnir242 Actually is a brand new ES44DC with the all too typical GE engine fire. Flex fuel lines are not properly torqued, come loose, and spray fuel on the manifold. This is actually a rather small fire of this type. They get MUCH worse.
Moisture sensing automatic drain valve on the main air reservoir. It "spits" when water is detected allowing for drier air for the brakes. Completely normal.
Why is it that everytime I hear about a train fire its always a CSX like no joke I think its kinda funny because CSX sucks at maintaining there trains lol
@MrRgreer With comments like these is it any wonder railroaders do not want you guys on their property. Nothing but negative comments about issues that you know nothing about. CSXT doesn't maintain anything? Huh? They are a profitable railroad moving incredible tonnages over vast distances. And yet people like you write "CSX doesn't maintain anthing". Pathetic.
@MrRgreer Do not need to check "the news" I work in this industry and have for 30 years. Give me any source that proves your point that "CSXT doesn't maintain anything". Just one. Show me any industry stat that backs you up.
Um.. putting water on a locomotive? Really? That machinery is mostly electrical. The diesel only runs a generator and the brake acts as a turning motor to provide electric back to the batteries. Never mind the fact it is also DIESEL.. hydrocarbons and water.. yep
The turbo charge's Hiss from GEVO (ES44) Train sounds aggressively bad as electrical sparks since it was on fire. Jeez that's very dangerous. Poor GEVO. Every of these trains like gevos always as unnatural gets accidents
GEs are are fire prone. EMDs are superior in pulling power and last a lifetime. GEs are however cheaper than EMDs and make them more attractive to railroads.
Im surprised it took that long for them to decouple the GE from the EMD... Loco fire- one of the first things to be done after stopping would be decoupling, no??
I'll tell you what caused the fire. It was a turbocharger fire, and of course the locomotive in question is a GE. (ES44) They can't seem to get away from turbo problems, LOL. Just look at the EMD SD70MAC sitting there, idling away like nothing's happened. xD EMD units have always been more reliable than GE's in general.
WHAT JUNK!!! THAT "LOCOMOTIVE" IS A PIECE OF SHIT!!! LOOK AT THAT BURLY AS HELL EMD BEHIND IT LAUGHING ITS ASS OFF!!!!!!!!!!

GE's went to crap when they quit making the Dash 7 lineup, those older u boats and dash 7's hardily ever caught fire
sawman090 7 months ago
Well, I will vote EMD for the sexy engine sound, while GE (esp. Dash 9) for its cool outlook (I love how GE puts the radiator wings at the back).

I love EMD's- GP40-2's SD40-2's SD50's 60's 70's 80's 90's & mac's ^_^
