Daniel Lavoie (too bad story made him as sadistic torturer who just wanted one-night stand with Esme!), and Alain Cuny (unfortunately those screenwriters also made him as responsible of Esme´s torture and robbed the dungeon scene). Don´t understand me wrong, I love the musical and 1956 version is very good, but it would have been great to see that duo without these changes.
@olcia0123 When I read your comment something clicked in my head. I completely agree; either would have made an incredible Frollo, especially Rickman.
call me crazy but i will have to go with the disney version of frollo even though they made him a little more kid friendly and i love tony jay's voice!
I'd have to concur about seeing Alan Rickman as Frollo? But definitely, Daniel Lavoie. My favourite Frollo. The Frollo he plays: quiet, tormented, passion flickering within.
Very close would be Alexander Marakulin. That Frollo is nothing but torment and passion- and beautifully done.
The sign Frollo beats out of his way at 1:21 says "Le Roi" (the king) - he would just go beyond anyone and anything to get that gypsy woman...! Nice detail! :)
I LOVE IT!!! Thank you so much for posting this! Do you know how to get the non-French musicals of Notre Dame de Paris on DVD, btw? I've been looking... or at least soundtracks. ^_~
I've never actually seen the bald Frollo, but I thought I'd seen all English versions so now I'm gonna go rent that if I can find it... again, THANK YOU!!!

Quick question: Richard Harris played Dumbledore before he died right? I keep telling my sister that but she doesn't believe me.

@Darkknightress Yup, he played Dumbledore in the first two HP movies if I remember correctly

My favorite is the Disney one because of the song sequence that he sings about his lust for Esmeralda.

Peter Cushing should come back from the dead to play Frollo. He was PERFECT for the role. Forget Alan Rickman.
LightStijn 1 year ago
Alan Rickman would be great, my personal favorite is Daniel Lavoie. I read somewhere Sean Connery is an interesting suggestion

Tony Jay and Alexander Marakulin were the best Frollos ever for me. Both have unique, dramatic voices that suit the character perfectly.

@ElisabettaVS Yes! The Tosca end sequence was awesome! Wonder if its the allusion to the way Frollo had ended his life.

I love Brandon Hurst in anything he does so he gets my vote (1923 version). He was a brilliant and underrated actor.

Personally for me, my favorite Frollo is definitely Hardwicke's. I think he was very sexy, handsome and quietly convincing.

Tony Jay actually. He is the best for me. His voice is very haunting. ;)

Alan Rickman would be a rocking awesome Claude Frollo. Richard Harris just freaked me out because I'd close my eyes and see wizard.
I like Kenneth Haigh--he had some goofy facial expressions, but he was pretty alright.
kierkegaardwife 2 years ago 20
@kierkegaardwife lol, I get what you mean about Richard Harris - but I also think he was too old for the role, even though he is a brilliant actor.
