This why you go with torrents.

First you download. then you convert video to a proper video format for device (recommended), then upload to device. Done. All free too. I happen to use the Microsoft Zune, because I say fuck Apple. It has a pretty good size screen and 120gb storage. Can't beat that. Costed less than $2.50 a gb too. I keep my calling and texting separate on an actual phone.

Don't like that advice? Then at least GET A UNLIMITED PHONE PLAN FOR FUCKS SAKE!

You can turn off data usage in settings ., u got to settings then general then network. Then you can turn roaming off and data it works great then u no for sure I r on wifi and your not being charged, and when u need to use the net when your not near wifi you can turn data back on and use it if u like..then turn it off again when your done it works great . Sometimes if u have data on and u r using wifi u still get charged data because if there is any interruption at all your data plan will kick

So for people with no data plans, it isn't wise to get an iPhone. But what if you really don't have a data plan and you're using an iPhone? It's pretty dumb to NOT download any apps if you're using one, but what should one do if they're in that situation? Is it possible to turn off all sorts of data usage within the iPhone's native settings (and just stick with Wi-Fi instead)?

Its not something that needs to be resolved, if your moronic to waste your data plan downloading/doing stupid crap, then your going to be charged out the ass. Use wifi when available and dont download crap like its going out of style. if you want to download episodes of tv shows then use your home computer to do so and transfer them onto the phone.

Im looking at a Plan for 50$ with Bell Mobility in Canada. I want a iPhone 4G, it would be 200 Minutes and between the 5 Features I would like either: UNLIMITED Calling, Texting and eMailing. I won`t Text Much but I want Internet everywhere I go. Im only in my 15th Month of being 13. I WILL NOT GO OVER THE LIMIT. The activation Fee is 35$, New User Prices, Taxes and iPhone 4G 16GB 199$. The Second Time and on will be Cheaper because I would NOT have all the extra New User Features.

Are you sure you only use WiFi? Make sure you WiFi icon is active when downloading/browsing in the top left corner of the screen instead of the 3G or EDGE icon.

Also disable roaming data in Network settings, however I'm not sure if this is very effective, I've got mine disabled and when my phone switches to national roaming sometimes data is still active, could be a bug!!

Have you been going crazy with data, especially downloading Apps? If your carrier provides the ability to check usage, make sure you do so, otherwise try resetting the "Cellular Network Data" counter each month when your billing cycle restarts, while not 100% foolproof, it should give you a pretty good guide of how much data you have left on your plan.

Go to: Settings --> General --> Reset Statistics each month and you'll know how much you've used

Basically, yes. As long as you don't exceed your plan's data limit you shouldn't be faced with bill shock.

If you have the option of using WiFi, do so as much as possible and save your 3G data for when there's no WiFi.

Also if your carrier provides a facility to check how much data you've used throughout the month its worth checking every couple of days or after any larger downloads or video streaming sessions.

it's weird, I Have an iphone 3g and i always use 3g, i can even tell you that in 9 months i use only 3g of my iphone in my apartment, but never tethering, I use around 2 gb per month and never have an over charge, it's weird, I never have fees or something.

The bottom line is to not go crazy with your downloads and then there should be no problems!

I believe the guy with the massive bill from the UK started downloading while at home and then stopped the download when he flew to Germany and then didn't realise that the download automatically resumed when he got reception again!
