  • To my understanding, the factors came together just right to create this phenomenon. My question is how often does this plant create snowfall of any intensity? Does this happen every year? Does this happen only if the winds are from the southeast? I think this video is so cool.

  • I use to live on the same road as the power plant I rember a couple heavy snow falls I also rember people calling the news stations because they saw the steam it put out and thought it was a tornado

  • We get stuff like this every winter, and it S U C K S

  • powerplant-effect snow: emits a little yellow/green light :p

  • unbelievable

  • Wow! Very cool! Thanks for posting. And for those of you asking, PowerPlant snow is just that. Snow caused by the heat from a power plant. Very similar to lake effect snow but on a much, much smaller scale. Very rare. Factories can also cause this. Cool vid and 5*

  • powerplant-effect? whats that Oo? (im not american so...don't call me a ignorant...or call with you wanna have a painfull death!...)

    \o/

  • what is powerplant effect snow ?

  • lolol that is just flurries for us here in the upper peninsula of michigan

  • Nice.

  • Huh, it looks like snow can come in sideways too...

  • @Skaarjguy ...Snow can come in sideways because of one main reason: strong winds. That's how snow falls sideways during blizzards.

  • Dammit, I should've known that would go over someone's head, lol.

It was a Forrest Gump reference XD

When I said that, I meant "Rain isn't the only thing that can come in sideways," in reference to when in the movie, Forrest was talking about how when he was in Vietnam, there was little rain, "big ol' fat rain," rain coming in sideways, and rain coming from underneath.

  • wish it was here,

    no school for me :D:D

    great vid 5/5

  • |Guesss what ? WOW lol good vid ace snow :-)

  • Come on dude get off the weed and into reality .

  • Waw, what a strong snowstorm, excellente capture on video, 5 Stars !

  • I never thought about power plant effect snow....wow!

If it's from a coal burning plant....isn't it dirty? A nuclear plant would just be steam...and produce pretty clean snow....right?

  • u call that a blizzard...in canada we call that a light dusten

  • @sharinggon456 same in lithuania

  • this happened at a small coal fired power plant east of here a couple weeks ago..wind was comin out of the north west and blowin the moisture from the cooling towers across the hiway...hence, a 200 yard strip of snow across the highway :)

  • Some of you seem to be missing the point that the heavy snow is caused by the moisture coming from the power plant cooling tower, not just that it's snowing heavy.

  • THATS FREAKIN SWEET!

  • thats cool

  • I live in Manitoba we get this kind of weather all the time. We have polar bears...need i say more.

  • @manitobasuntanner Yeah well that Canada for ya

  • yes that's Canada...the winters here suck, but the summers are nice.

  • HI Dude ya Im Canadian to , Im in New Brunswick , in the northen Part of Atlantic Canada .Anyway Yeah we know whats -36 Celcuis and Snowstorms with a total Snowfall of 10 ' + .

Unlike this joker ... that was funny ,its like never seen snow before eh c ya ....

    Reg

  • One of my best friends is a Canadian!

  • I heard of Lake Effect Snow but not Power Plant Effect Snow could the Cooling Towers cause Power Plant Effect Thunderstorms in the Spring and Summer Months too

  • @garyhstorms09 lol

  • looks like volcano ashes

  • That snow isn't horribly bad, we get way worse up here in Kansas. It gets to where you can't see headlights 20 feet away.

  • awesome reminds me of the anarctic snow(know i didnt spell that right)

  • global warming is a hoax, ma made emissions do nto have a noticable impact on our weather

  • @tremer88

    Amen.

  • O_O

  • Epic WANT.

  • thats cool...power plant snow

    aka man made snow!!!!!LOL

  • i'll admit it's coming down pretty good but i've seen far worse

  • I have seen it snow so hard you would have not been able to see pass the hood of your car. Google it 1978 blizzard in Ohio. My barometer went to 28.38 yes I said 28. when it started back up temperatures went below 0 and the wind was sustain at 60 to 70 and guest to 110MPH. That is still the lowest preasure record in the USA other then a hurricane.

  • i don't think THIS is to be considered HEAVY SNOW!!

  • Very neat.

I always laugh at what you guys call heavy snow though.

  • crazy! In my town in Ontario we are supposed to get a natural gas plant put in, we are right by Lake Ontario as well, would that have the same effect as shown here?

  • @egyptianlily unlikely... MOST storms go west to east in Ontario. The people in NY MAY get some... but usually lake effect snow happens along the shores of lake Huron etc In Ontario, usually unrelated to anything man made.

  • cool thanks:)

  • cool

  • in virginia beach we had school out today and tomorrow (:

  • That is very interesting.

I just have to point out.

This is a weather even caused by human activity, in this case one power plant. After seeing this, will global warming deniers still say that all the factories, power plants, and internal combustion engines running 24 hours a day all over the globe have NO effect on climate?

  • @getplaning

yes, we will still say that because its not caused by that. O_o idiot.

  • HAHAHAHAH- Your logic is impeccable

  • Very cool.

  • not bad by us in germany snow it everyday

  • they should put a power plant next to every ski resort!!!

  • i love you guys btw when does tornado season start

  • Got to love a bit of severe weather. London UK is rubbish for that.
